soo… I got a question, would it make a difference if I bring my own controller (ps3)? or do you guys only set up 1 TV+console? also, let’s say i arrive at 2p.m., pay, play a few games/watch, but I want to leave at 3p.m. to get food and come back, do I have to pay again to re-enter?

That’s because there are unblockables in the game…nah not really but it is tricky when you gotta option select tech throws and ambiguous jump ins and cross ups.

Friday nights are the alternative nights for casuals usually which I need to confirm for the new year so I can take my shifts off those nights to come play.

Bringing your own gear always helps, there’s a good number of pad players that show up as well as people who play on stick as well. Just make sure you label your controller in case you put it down or someone asks to borrow it while you’re not playing. Jon and the guys at HW are pretty cool, just be sure to pay the $5 fee and you’re good all day/night.

Haha… the benefit is that you had U2 and fireballs to zone him and keep him out. But… Rose’s fireball is balls so much. Slow and lots of recovery (I’m spoiled by Guile’s gdlk sb recovery…).

But yeah, I’m thinking of getting XBL sooner or later… after I get a copy of SSF4 for $20… from Amazon/BB on Boxing day lol…then we can train on X360/PSN.

Hey guys! hope ya’ll are having a wicked holiday! i’ve been crazy busy, so i haven’t been checking the thread as much, but here are some quick updates
**
-Closed today (boxing day) - reopen Monday 12pm to 6pm
-Casuals are on for this coming wednesday (Dec 29th) 2pm to 9pm
-if you gotta go and eat, that’s fine i wouldn’t charge you twice for that )that’d just be tight!)
-january schedule hasn’t been done yet…i don’t know if fridays will be returning as we’ve got some events going…but i’ll see what i can do
-please bring your own controller if you wish to use one…i could provide them…but controllers get dirty faster and are harder to keep track of so i want to avoid bringing them
-we usually have 4 setups on wednesday at least…i’ll try to have at least 5 this wednesday…looking for ppl to bring ps3s as i only have access to one this week
-no sale on joysticks…only fightpads (10% off). Margins for fight sticks are too low for us to discount them…but if your really serious about getting one pm me or hidey and we’ll see if anything can be done
-i love wun yan’s ideas here…i’ll try to add a more “serious” session if ppl are interested (looking for ppl that want to teach AND learn). Matt gave me a mini level up type session last time i played. but you do have to take time to practice as well! I can even try talking to TOSF HQ and see if JS and company would come out and run a session at the shop for their normal rates

I explicitly only really only trust Wun for dual mods, sure Dragon Center’s Arcade Prower provides dual mod services but after seeing their prices on “custom sticks”, I would fair that their dual mod wouldn’t be as quality as what Wun provides. I know someone in the tech section in part with Akihabarashop.jp has released a dual mod compatible PCB that works with the Hori Wireless/Tekken sticks.

99% committed on coming down this Wednesday, just depends on what time Patrick can go(we usually have lunch first). With me and him coming down, I will be able to provide 2 PS3 pads(just cleaned off Patrick’s pad), two sticks(though I think people have been intimidated not to use the VLX for some reason) and a PS2 pad + converter for the 360.

After the New Year, I should be able to dual mod my VLX as well as test out the custom graphic for it as well. I’m thinking of a late gift for my figure deal in Halifax so SSFIV and Madcatz Fightpad should do well. I wonder if Robin as an ETA for the equipment from akishop as well.

The closest I could get for the VLX template in measurements are in Centimeters, hopefully that won’t be too much of a difference when it gets printed out(gonna print it on 3 pieces of standard 8.5x11" paper and tape it together to see if it comes close).

And Jon I’m always trying to share knowledge on the game when I’m playing. I main Sagat and yet that doesn’t stop me from telling people how to get around his tactics, even if they don’t ask me.

Even minor things go a long way, Hidey’s Dhalsim got killed by a Raging Demon and I just mentioned that the benefit of getting beat by that Ultra is that it builds two bars, Hidey didn’t know that and now he does. Anywhere is a good start. Even with Rahul the Ryu/Goken player I was telling him the distances he could jump safely without being hit by Sagat’s U2 AA.

I enjoy the sessions with Fadi because I am terrible against Guy, and he has a tremendous Guy and he helps me out a lot. He shows me guys mix ups and resets, ambiguous cross ups etc.

Each session I get better because my reactions get much better playing with live competition. I know exactly what I have to do because I know Adon and Sagat inside out, I just have to execute better.

Do you mind taking pictures of the innards of your stick? I want to see how they did it.

FYI, warranties on these things are kind of useless… Either it works or it doesn’t. That’s the benefit of electronics - not to downplay their services or anything. But yeah, its good to have insurance.

I’ve heard from Ben that he is $10 cheaper than what you charging(still doesn’t make a difference for me and Jon), I get paid on the first of January so maybe I’ll either leave my VLX with you this Wednesday(if you’re going) and pick it up either after I get paid or the next casual if there are still held on Wednesday.

I’m still happy with my Qanba, BTW, did you take any pictures of the VLX you previously modded? The thing looks like it can take 10 mods lol!
