Henshin A Go Go, Baby! Viewtiful Joe Thread

Unfortunately, that would be way too cool, neat, interesting and stylish to be considered in a modern game.

Just like down + taunt lets Guile put shades on?

I could believe it.

Capcom’s not anywhere near as stylish as they were in the 90’s but I could totally see this.

They just did that because they wanted to make Guile players feel like they didn’t just ignore him.

Going out of their way to add an extra graphical twist for the fans is just not in style. I guess it’s because then everyone would want something similar for their character.

You mean the 1-Second Booms, comboable Guile High Kick, retweaked Ultra 1 and decent Ultra 2 wasn’t enough?

But hey, Guile with Shades gave us the anthem of SSF4. FK>FADC>Shades

they’ll just make us pay for a visor version with all colors

I honestly wouldn’t even be surprised if this happened.

It’s not THAT bad yet.

Capcom’s been slacking on the corporate greed department, where they’re usually an industry pioneer in such a category. Arcsys charges you 5 bucks for a couple of fucking pallet swaps in BBCS, I’m sure Capcom won’t let themselves be one-upped like that.

I feel like they did it to get people to stop saying “Guile only has two moves! This needs to be fixed!” etc etc. So you give him a new move that makes him no different and MORE AMAZING!

OK seriously, what the hell is Joe doing at the end of his slow hyper combo?

To be honest I have played through both Viewtiful Joe games but I have never seen that animation in any way. From what I can recall putting someone in SLOW just means you have to dodge an attack (or attacks).

While I like the idea of SLOW it would be much cooler if they took out Mach Speed’s current functionality and gave him a Seiei Enbu type super instead because that’s pretty much exactly how Mach Speed works, shadow copies coming behind you to add tons of extra hits. I guess that would be too good in this game and would lead to unblockables. Still… it would be so cool.

That’s actually a better explanation. I’ll use that in the future.

IMO, it would just be redundant. If he had a Seiei Enbu, it would be no different from this except more chances at hitstun dropping and damage scaling. This way, you’re still faster and still get those setups (since he’d be blocking slower as well so switching would be much tougher, of course this is theory, but I think this is true) but you don’t risk dropping combos courtesy of the IPS and damage scaling. Plus, Damage is plenty high in this game, so it shouldn’t hurt you too bad.

Hitstun scaling’s a bitch!

Also was this video posted already?

Yeah it was, just not in this thread.

Yeah, I actually just finished VJ1 this past Sunday. The animation looks like he is tugging/pulling at the character (insert happy ending joke), but I honestly have no idea what he is supposed to be doing.

Seth mentions that instead of calling it the God Hands, it’s now the Viewtiful Hands. Was there a move in VJ’s 1 or 2 that was called the God Hand?

Probably a reference to the game God Hand since they are both Clover?

oh man the combos i’m imagining with this guy. 60 second long combos. not only that, but the combos you probably can’t do on him.

Look at the bright side, if you land it on a female character… it means Joe’s going for gold.

Well my team setup so far is Viewtiful Joe / Amaterasu / Iron Man. Unless another character that I really think is truly awesome shows up this is probably the final setup for me.

While it might be awesome to use both V.Joe and Ammy’s slowdown supers in a DHC setup, I think it would be a huge waste as Ammy’s Mist doesn’t last nearly long enough to be used effectively in tandem with SLOW. I wish the Mist lasted longer.
