I know this should be posted in the XBox Live section but it seems pretty dead. Can anyone here help me out? The wife and I want to get with the rest of the world on play online. I have a XBox and a credit card, what else do I need to get started?
Shouldn’t be too hard, you should check out xbox.com to get all the info but you only need: high speed internet, xbox live account (which you can get while your setting up), and a credit card. Other than that setting up is a snap since everything should be set to auto and it does most of the work for you. On a side note, xbox live has been pretty messed up this last two weeks so I don’t know if that’ll affect your signing up.
Ok, so what am I connecting my XBox too? I need an ethernet cable, right? If I play my XBox in my bedroom and my PC is in the living room, I would need to run a cable to my bedroom or buy a wireless router, correct?
Yep to all those. If you want to be able to use both at the same time (xbox,pc) then you need a router. There’s another way to do it with internet sharing but it’s not as good and you need your pc ON whenever you want to play. Set up a router have one ethernet cable go to the pc and one to the xbox and it should be set. Again this is all described on xbox.com under xbox live
