does OTK even play anymore? i thought i read several times that he quit…if thats the case can you even really bring him into the argument. since this is the last year for cvs2 at evo i’ll definitely go
just watched that chang match…and i refuse to believe that was a real match the guy didn’t even block. choi wasn’t even being sent in hi low mix ups he just sent choi then small jumped him…i may be wrong but don’t you block both of those standing? either way it was very amusing to watch
The mixup is either low jump rh (choi hits), combo of your choice, or low forward (choi hits), combo of your choice. He was also close enough to get a command grab off there also, so that’s another mixup element.
As someone who plays Chang every now and then I can tell you that people block low or wake up RC/wakeup uppercut about 75% of the time. It’s not outlandish that he would guess low and then mess up something in a row like that.
3 options that are done 75% of the time…2 of them that should be blocked??? so what do you do???
in the corner chang is scary, i look for 2 things, one is a jump, the other is the early throw out choi to bait a block so you can command throw…you can react to both from crouching (which eliminates the high low game and now becomes the high, command throw game)…with the choi bait into command throw being the easiest to react to…
Depends on the character. Blanka’s RCs that aren’t electricity let me hit him back at that range, so I go for throw Choi, command grab more often (timing is gross on this, but it’s worth figuring out).
On a character like Sagat who’s reversal options leave him open I like walk forward block as my default option. It gets the added benefit that if they guess block high, you can try and sneak a low in there and maybe you’ll get lucky and get the hit (then sweep afterwards and hope you can repeat).
Also if guard bar is low, I’ll just block almost every time. Then jump in fierce, low forward after Choi hits for a nice chunk of bar.
So I guess my most common option is walk up block but that’s because I play wrong. I do walk up block with Yamazaki in mixup situations too often also.
