lol that would be sad
Joe- We’re having a session at my place on Wednesday. Try to see if you can come through.
laugh- I’ll play you for $$$
The problem with the US v Japan 5-on-5 is that you’d be watching a team tournament with the very same players you’re most likely to see playing the very next day. The real issue with CvS2 hype is that it just seems like more of the same to people (even if it is entertaining). This would only serve to reinforce that feeling.
The reality is that we do need different players to step up with different shit to breed excitement (read: I’d have to make top 8). If Poongko is really thinking about coming out, that’d be a huge help. If Iyo would come out, that’d be a great thing. If we see the usual suspects, or even somebody new using the same characters (like HAK in '06), there’s no reason for people who aren’t interested in CvS2 to become interested.

YOOOOO HOPE NO BAS/MAGO IN MY POOL THIS YEAR I WANT A DECENT POOL (Yeah right)
YEAH FUCK EVERYONE WHO POSTED IN THIS THREAD I HATE YOU ALL ESPECIALLY THAT JESSE GUY grrrrr
Yo this 5on5 idea sounds sweet. Make it happen guys
Marvel 5-on-5 would have the same players and teams, but nobody seems to see that as a problem with Marvel, since people seem to actually be able to discern differences in playstyle in Marvel. Seems they can’t do it with CvS2, so it’s more of an issue to get different characters up there (plus, let’s just be honest… Magneto is definitely more fun to watch than Sagat for most people).
I don’t think US v Japan would be a bad idea; I’d love to see it. I just don’t think it would solve what seems to be CvS2’s major problem with the general crowd.
We can play 3/5 or FT5 (which ever you like) for $100.
I like me, FREE, btw.
Anyone else wanna play for $$$?
I realize now…I really might have to come to Evo this year. The might being more of a have to, if people like Poongko, Kisshi, Gao are going to be there I definitely want to be about it. I think the general problem is that people just don’t have the attention span to understand what’s happening in CVS2 without seeing IAD’s, ROMs, or other flashy combos. And well, as its been said before the CVS2 crowd is rather conservative in comparison to the MVC2 crowd, which is fine by me–but I think that also is a factor for the casual spectator in terms of watching something entertaining.
Hopefully if new players step up there could be a better reception to CVS2. CVS2 really is a fun, challenging game and I’d hate to see it go.
That’s the funny thing… CvS always gets a great reception… people just see it as a spectator sport though, because you don’t see Makoto Mike shit in CvS.
So finals will be hype, but it doesn’t draw new players because it looks like the top players are just too good.
They watch Third and think (largely misguided) “I can do that”. They watch CvS2 and think “cool… but wtf”.
The fact that the same guys always place high only strengthens that feeling. It’s really simple to see.
Sounds cool. Fighting an opposing team with Bas, Kindevu & Tokido would suck, tough.
Maybe they should do something similar at Showdown Championships, if possible.
Bas is godlike obviously. Kindevu and Tokido can both get touched though. If those are the best players they can produce (which I’d doubt) they’d get raped in a RR.
Since CvS2 is pretty lucky to make it into Evo at this point, I hope the players take the opportunity to bring something fresh to the table. I love this game, but I am getting a little tired of seeing over half the players trotting out the same fucking A-groove characters in every match.
But then if you look at these videos :wow:

Also, will CVS2 be 2/3 then 3/5 for finals or gay ass 1 match and that’s it???
We need Yoon to do the commentary for everything, period.

I’m on my cell phone, so YouTube doesn’t actually go to the page; I just see the video, but that looks like Hirahira v. Deshi… which… um… doesn’t pertain to the conversation at all.
Unless I’m wrong (I’m not?).
Honestlly, if they came, and placed top 8 (which I wouldn’t see happening with either of these two, maybe Deshi, but definitely not both), that would be great for CvS2. They use very competitive teams, that aren’t filled with the standard characters.
As for the 5-on-5, I like Deshi over Tokido at this point.
What three character’s would you like to see…:wonder:
LooL yeah those vids were somewhat irrelevant to what was being discussed (still entertaining nonetheless). Itd be sick if those cvs2 players can come though…
but if theres a 5-5, and Gunter comes, which side would he represent? heheehe
Havoc are u and the crew heading to MWC?
speaking from experience…
cvs2 is gonna be 1 game. it’s been cut to 1 game pretty much every year now (i think one year it wasn’t?), so i’d at least be prepared for it
sure, cutting the lineup to 6 games means there might be more time run cvs2 but…
dont get your hopes up
but at least it’s at evo at all. and havoc is right: we need to see new talent this year more than any other. step your games up guys
