I mean the fact of the matter is you’re going to break her heart no matter what you do at this point. And that’s partially not your fault.
Look, if you don’t want a long term relationship with her, you just don’t want that. You can’t MAKE yourself want that. You’re not forced into it. You just have to tell her, and that’s a hard conversation.
Let her know that you’re there for her, but you can’t be in a serious relationship like that because it’s not you. It’s going to suck, but you can’t sacrifice your happiness for everybody else’s. There are always exceptions to the rule where you have to accept responsibility for shit you’ve done-- but here you haven’t done anything to warrant that. So I would have the hard conversation about it and then be there for her as a friend for a bit.

So I finally talked with her and was completely honest. I told her that I enjoy spending time with her doing many things, but that I am not interested in long term relationships with her nor any other woman (mostly because I am a workaholic in my career and personally prefer being alone). I don’t want to short change a woman because I put too much of myself into work, because it would be unfair to her.
She said understood, and she said when she returned to Japan she would try to find a guy similar to me (which made me feel kinda bad, but I’m not exactly sure why).
I then asked her if she was ok with us basically continuing what we were doing, and she said “yes, of course!” and that it didn’t bother her, even knowing that we wouldn’t be permanent later on.
So everything worked out
