because he used meter and its first round? ken doesn’t even have 1 bar of super going into second round. what ken did there wasn’t ‘smart’ either. it was his only choice to not die. i don’t even know if an ex shoryu would have saved his ass there but doing that when he parried would have been ‘smart’. instead of just taking it.
what you said is why no one wants to play 3S. that attitude. the people watching are having fun and enjoying the awesomeness of the match. if stuff like that happened more often, and people didn’t just see chun v chun doing low forward they might actually want to see what 3S is all about.
Ryan played like he was really rusty, and True Might got way too greedy. His problem was that he didn’t plan in advance: there were moments where he wasted a full Gigas(for example on a stunned Ryan with only 10% health left)*, and he also got too predictable with grab attempts, especially when one grab could seal the round. He’s good, but his mind games were lacking.
I know I’ve said before that it’s usually okay for Hugo to blow Gigas after almost every round since he can build that meter back, but there are also moments where if you have a very commanding lead then it’s best to save it.
I will say this though, it’s always fun to see a crowd get into a match. People have also cheered for much grander bullshit:

Ryan did play smart, but it wasn’t until around the second half. He made some pretty bad decisions in that first round you were talking about: getting within throw range(regular throw and 360), wasting meter on EX Tatsu without saving up for Super, getting HIMSELF cornered, not utilizing Ken’s better far range pokes. That last part where Ryan parried the Clap MAAAAY have been smart if he did an instant Shoryu, then try to build back the meter he spent before the round finishes(whether he wins it or not doesn’t matter too much, it would’ve been uphill for him anyway). It was for the most part True Might’s game, though.
Like i said the cheering was mostly because 90% of the crowd were supporting True Might, this was a kind of Nica KO VS Ricky Ortiz match if that makes sense to you
Oh and he KNOWS that blowing meter on gigas is stupid but he wanted to put on a show, anyway this is a good video on what not to do (in the first game) and what to do (in the later games) against Hugo
Euro 3S is great. I wish there was more stuff more often from the UK, France and Italy communities.
Too many good players over there that people aren’t nearly as familiar with as guys from Japan or US.
Yeah Ryan was very rusty, i’m still amazed at how quickly he adapted and came back from the brink, just goes to show that all that tournament exp really does count even if you haven’t been rinsing a particular game
I like to see a Grand Finals with Hugo and Q in it.
Did Circle Masher use Hugo earlier in the tourney? Hugo mirrors are still more refreshing than you know whos.
Well True Might and Circle Masher are brothers so True Might was very much prepared for the Q matchup and Circle didn’t use Hugo because after playing a million Hugo mirrors against each other they hate that match
Just saw this, yeah True Might and I find Hugo mirrors boring as shit haha. Even Hayao and YSB can’t make it look exciting.
I’d agree with you if it weren’t for the fact that True Might is my brother and I know how his mind works a lot more than you. True Might is far better and has far more experience than you realise and his mindgames are certainly not lacking (what a bizarre statement). As Deemo has already said, he was on home turf and loves using explosive BS to get the crowd on his side and to try to psyche his opponent out (it very often works). Yep Ryan Hart was (and is) clearly very rusty and it’s a testament to how strong RH is that this stuff doesn’t faze him for long. True Might will be the first to agree with you that on paper some of his shenanigans are highly questionable, but there’s a reason why he does so well and you’re not seeing the complete picture.
I’ll take your word for it. I was just observing based on what little knowledge I have of UK players, so I’ll admit I couldn’t have seen the bigger picture.
He did hype it up though, and looking back I guess his tactics could be seen as mind games. Sometimes the wackiest shit can mess up some of the most focused players.
No worries, didn’t intend to come across as terse so apologies if I did. TM does a good job of shoring up crowd support which is part of his tournament mindset against solid opponents to try and undermine them. Should have seen the atmosphere when he took the first fight from Momochi’s Yun at the UK 25th qualifier haha, the whole place EXPLODED. It’s a real shame the cameras and mics didn’t pick it up properly.
