i’m a low-tier scrub moving down to california into the folsom area from “sunny” Minnesota.
any competition over there? there seems to be an arcade about 4 miles away from the Intel site, but how’s the fighting up there? everybody i hear about is over in the san jose or bay area. where’s the closest action spot?

oh right. not sure what the tradition is when trying to find peoples in new places, but here are my general regulars:
3S: obviously in it for the sexy Hugo. occasional tachi’s for the win. picking up Necro/Dudley for non-grapple support.
cvs2: A: 2Ken/Sak/2Kyo/Todo/Iori/Vice/Raiden… some arrangement of those (i can only half-competently play A-Ken and A/P-Kyo… the rest are kinda works in progress…)
P: Ryu/Zangief/Raiden/2Kyo/Gouki
ggxx: Baiken/Bridget/Johnny/Potemkin/Axl
#reload: Bridget/Johnny/Potemkin

Goteku: For #R, the best comp in Nor Cal= Davis. Berkeley is good, but they hardly play anymore. Reno occasionally visits Davis tournaments, so you may wanna check out their thread and ask around.
Davis, best comp in Nor Cal? Is San Jose not considered Nor Cal? (Not being sarcastic here.) San Jose players > Davis players, minus Tanaka Force.

from other posts around the norcal area, it doesn’t seem to have a lot of 3S competition… or am i wrong? it seems that norcal is mostly cvs2 and marvel2.

Dude…SVGL=3rd Strike competition…Emphy is TOPS, Dudley Dave, Akumar, Hugo Chris, Cyanide Assassin, Andry, Choi, PyroLeezy (shameless plug), Venkat sometimes, that guy who rapes me with Makoto, those two Elena guys, random Asian dudes who like Ken, that guy who owned me up with Necro (a.k.a. Ryu Guy)…there’s still more. It’s actually pretty nice 'cause there’s hella different levels of players, so it helps if you’re trying to get better, like myself.
But yeah, CVS is pretty beastly here, and Marvel is just silly…especially when Salinas drops by. Oh yeah, those guys play 3S too.

To the original poster, my bro plays MvC2 at UCB once in a while. He’ll be a sophomore next year.
dang. svgl is in the san jose area. that’s about 2.5 hours away from folsom. stupid job… offering in a place that’s so close to good competition, but just far away to be a weekend trip-type of situation… like the carrot in front of a horse. those bums. well, i’ll have to see if there are any console people around that area if the arcade scene is billions of miles away. thanks again for the info!
