Hello, from Arcade-In-A-Box (10% Off Coupon SRK10)

OK, so here are my thoughts on the buttons colors. Since everything is labeled now, it makes sense to just offer stock options like Red, Blue, etc . Since everything looks good with the greyscale overlay.

This will effect pricing as well since I can get items much cheaper in bulk At least for sanwa. Not sure about seimitsu yet

For Sanwa Buttons.
Red and white

Seimitsu
Black, Red/Black, White/Black

Happ
Blue, Red, Black, White. Convex and concave.

Thoughts?

I have a HFS3 in my storage that I dont, er, WONT use So if those would work better, I can send it to you Ed.

Also, you never returned my email about the custom job with the MK2 => MK3 control panel. I’ll just return the last email you sent to refresh your memory.

I think the sanwa Black/dark hai buttons are pretty propular no?

Are those the black/grey ones? Aren’t those snap in only?

I’m going to be closing the web store until the 8th to allow me some time to get this all fixed up. I feel I am confusing people more than anything right now.

I think you should maybe get some green Happ buttons too, because the standard Capcom color layout is Red, Green, Blue. Just an idea. Have that color set a standard option since a lot of people probably don’t care what colors they get.

yea but dunno bout snap/screw in, they would look great on the black layout.

Yeah, I think this is what I am going to do.

Have 6-10 models of joysticks with preset colors. Then have a few custom joystick options where you can still pick the colors and upload your custom overlay.

BTW, no surprise, no word back from Capcom today.

Also, I hope you guys don’t mind me talking about all of this stuff. I work alone at my shop, so I don’t have anyone to bounce all of this

Hey I was going to get one of your sticks but I had a couple of questions.

  1. Should I get the regular or slim. I know people say that slim is for your lap but I have never had a home arcade stick so I’m not sure if I “should” have it on my lap.

  2. I’m used to the bat stick and concave buttons from the arcade but I hear that the sanwa buttons and lollypop stick were better quality.

So should I go with what I know or learn to play with better stuff. Also I’m used to the standard button layout but could see how the staggered Japanese button layout could be better.

Thanks!

Umm, I’m not anyone that really ‘knows’ anything about sticks either, I just know what I like.

For all of these questions, it’s really a matter of opinion. The thing I would recommend is playing on a japanese lap-based stick, and break the overall experience into your three parts.

For the first point, you’ll want to see if you’ll be comfortable playing on the floor, as if you don’t have any good place to put the thing when you’re out at tournaments and such, that’s where it (and you) will be.

On point #2, this would be something you’d have to try. Personally, I can’t see the craze about japanese parts. I can’t execute on the sticks, and don’t like how they feel. I’m used to American sticks and buttons, and that’s what I’ve always been on, so that’s what I prefer. Your conclusion, of course, is probably going to vary.

Third… again, it’s what suits YOU best. Like above, I’m used to the American-style rectangular layout. I’ve seen cabinets where the buttons angle upwards in straight lines as well. Didn’t like them, but tried my best to use them like that. I’ve had (older, non-arcade) sticks where the buttons curved. Threw me off way too much. So, the straight layout is my preference. What works for you? Only you can answer that.

It’s a good idea tarzan, for some customers. Many just want a cookie cutter :).

There are some ideas a brewing :).

Thanks.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with doing it cookie cutter. MAS has been doing it for years and they are fine. And even as cookie cutter as they are it STILL takes them 2+ months to make a stick and they still get a lot of orders. Boggles the mind really.

Yeah, I was kind of floored that it took them that long. Of course they do superguns and other stuff too, right?

This copyright shit is really pissing me off.

I had so many good ideas…goddamn Capcom.

sighs

I dont understand why they dont let it go. They should encourage it to get this younger generation playing on REAL controllers, lol.

Yeah, so many people get away with it, why can’t you? I mean you could use capcom artwork, but I think it has to be customer sent and requested instead of just a layout option for you to sell. Or you could just not publicize it and make it a service only available to a customer who has paid.

Centennial,
That’s not the case, it’s stated very clearly in their letter. The problem with this is the internet. “Look at my new stick” “Who built it?” “arcade-in-abox” “sweet ken picture huh”.

See the issue :).

They care because they think I’m profitting off their property and they are not getting a piece of the pie. Plus, they probably have a stick coming out like the SFII Anniversary.

They did state that consumers might get confused and think my product is a capcom product. That one is BS

Wow that is friggin bullshit. I mean they give out their franchise on shitty stock sticks but don’t give other stick builders a break. Even if it’s just the optional artwork.

 I don’t see the problem there. They’d rather your work not get confused with something using crappy made-in-China knock-off parts? :looney:
