Weblord is another perfect fit for the ol’ discard deck. can’t wait to run them and Loatheb starting next week. The hard part is going to be figuring out what to omit.
I just think it’s bad design/over simplified. If you have any sort of critical thinking skills it should take 1-2 tries to beat this boss. I didn’t even know she did the ability every turn, i just saw it was buffed and went for the extra heals, then once i figured that out i just sat there and won
The AI sort of needs to be dumb…the abilities and other effects are broken. The challenge is constructing a counter to its behavior. Maexxna would be near impossible to beat if it made smarter decisions on when to bounce and what to attack.
If you want to beat Maexxna, priest or paladin is your best bet. I would use this based on what I learned beating her:
You basically do everything you can to force them to have 7, 1 hitters and abuse life gain, silence, and peacekeepers to keep them in check while you stall. You can win either by gaining 7-8 life per turn and swinging with charge minions, or you can actually fight her by stealing minions with mind tech, turning threats into 1 hitters with peacekeepers, board wiping with consecrate, and playing enough guys per turn to offset the bounce. Leeroy and Alex are not required but make life easier, Leeroy being awesome since it gives 1/1’s away.
You can do Priest with heals, but peacekeepers and guardian really help. Priest gives you more sustain with the ability, shadow madness, and better early spot removal. Overall I prefer the Paladin build because you have cards like Truesilver and Holy light that you can put out to help sustain and wont worry bout it getting bounced and maxing your hand when you want to dig for answers. My original priest deck I won with was very dependent on fishing for Leeroy, alex, 2x earthen and/or voodoo doctor ( i ran no charge guys besides leeroy…cuz i was apparently insane at the moment). It would also auto lose if i ran into an early Sea Giant or the new 5/5…so peacekeepers are really good for fixing that.
I’ve been getting into this game lately too and I must say that Naxx a lot of fun although I managed to beat everything in one night. I beat heroic Anub and Faerlina with zoo (w/ eggs) and Maexxna with a custom priest with witch doctors, farseers and bunch of aoe/mind control. Anub was definitely the hardest for me.
Also got 12 wins the first time in arena a day before Naxx. I got druid without swipes but had great mana curve. I could definitely see why that helps a lot.
Hmm, comes down to whether you’re willing to buff 1/1’s with Argus, Bloodlust, Flametongue and the like, or leave 'em for something juicier. I can see how sometimes, a Creeper a turn earlier can save something, or maybe your deck has too many 3’s, so you switch those two for a better starting hand. And then there’s Rivendare…but yeah, agree on the Arena draft. You never know what you get. Standalone, Golem is definitely a better pick.
But man, Nerubian Eggs…fought a Mage with my Rogue. Turn 6 Egg…dude was so mindfucked whether to Flamestrike or not. Ended up delaying it an extra turn, got some extra hits in the face, took the game. There’s something mischeviously satisfying about seeing them rely on this to reset the tempo and then have their plan crumble in front of them, as this card gets played.
Even better that I can just backstab the eggs whenever the hell I feel like.
Made a rogue arena deck, 2 prep with no eviscerate, no back stab, 1 shiv, 1 fan of knives. Oh well.
I did get a Web spinner, with prep and cold blood I can get big early presence that’s hard to deal with. Started 0-2 though, made it to 2-2 and gave it a rest.
