Hearthstone - That other, other, other Blizzard game

For every one of those spectacular packs, there are a good 10-20 packs that are just 40 dust. For me, it’s been really boom or bust.

I’m thinking of dusting that gold BGH. I already have a regular one, and two in a deck feels a bit like overkill, but I’m not decided yet.

I had 80 gold last night and was planning to do my daily for 60 gold and get 3 wins to wrap things up so I had enough gold to do an arena run today. Well, in the process I won my 1000th game, so it gave me 300 gold. Then I got 175 after winning 7 games and 225 after winning 8, so I’m swimming in gold right now. Kinda funny that my worst run of the day by far came with Mage.

Two BGH is something that I can’t really recommend in this environment, since there isn’t a whole lot of handlock or giants. Then again, I don’t really care about gold cards too much.

i opened near 100packs with no legendaries, then got rag and sylvannas in quick succession. i find sylvannas is pretty hard to use, she always works well if ur behind but if you’re ahead or its neutral i find her deathrattle is easily played around leaving her as a waste of mana spent, so she sits in my hand waiting for nothing

Whenever I play Sylvanas, I fully expect her to either eat a silence or a two-for-one. Worst case scenario is that I am behind, my opponent has some Shieldbearers/Void Walkers/Sen’jin Shieldmastas out, and Sylvanas can’t die fast enough to save my ass.

yeah she does 2 for 1 but usually a 2 mana straggler and a small spell. technecally there is value but i think a sunwalker or something usually does better for me.

Eh, if Sylvanas eats a 2 mana creature and a spell, and doesn’t take a creature, then you’re doing pretty well most of the time, since the board should either be empty or have a undercosted creature for the turn, since it was played after Sylvanas was destroyed. Sunwalker is a excellent replacement 9 times out of 10. The 10th time is you getting blown up by a stray Black Knight or Blood Knight, but them’s the breaks.

Speaking of Sylvanas.

Cairne vs Sylvanas has some interesting trades depending on who attacks first IIRC, might be completely wrong and depends on who got played first

Atleast when I attacked Sylvanas and both died, her deathrattle activated first; grabbing nothing, and Cairne respawned afterwards and I’ve heard cases of Sylvanas attacking and taking the summoned replacement.

Slightly confusing, gotta look it up again since there’s like 2 possible rules to look over.

my exp was the same, cairne owns, i wish i had him

Cairne trading with a Sylvanas on an otherwise empty board always results in Sylvanas’ deathrattle grabbing nothing, and you keeping your Baine. The same thing happens if a Harvest Golem trades with her.

My arena philosophy recently changed, and honestly it’s been a huge boon. I’m AVERAGING about 8 wins, and getting 12s pretty frequently now.

So what changed? I go to the face way more, minion trading when you can force your opponent to trade is no go, get your damage in. The second thing that changed is that I try to make plays where it forced my opponent to make inefficient plays to kill my minions. Keeping guys at 1 health constantly to force hero powers(though i’ll be more wary vs. druid because of swipe), and as the game progresses I’ll force my opponent to hero power and play some crappy 2 drop while I start slamming 5 drops. Lastly outside of a few key cards, I don’t really play around anything unless it won’t really hurt me to do so.

When actually drafting my decks I’m forcing less of a curve to an extent. 4 drops are so good, 1 drops give you a huge tempo advantage, and if you can make enough plays inbetween them with removal and maybe a few high value minions it’s so easy to go into t5-6 with a large lifelead. Also I stopped picking novice engineer pretty much period.

Was thinking that it was pretty lame, but then if you look at the wording. It says “a friendly minion”. Probably likely that you can choose what minion to buff.

That’ll be quite the secret, even if you can buff a hero power token to 4/3. Likely a buff to aggro paladin.

…actually this would be a terrifying secret if there’s a nerub egg on the field. Lawd jesus. If opponent kills the hero power token.-> now the egg is at 3/4. Too bad that hunters would still wreck these paladins with just flare.

Lastly. Just noticed that they released Poison Seed last week on march 23. So they’ll likely release a class card every week or so.

Looks really strong, 5 stats for 1 mana is nothing to scoff at even if it’s a bit conditional. Will be killer for arena.

Good stuff on the face plays, Veserius. I’m a bit of a conservative player, so I tend to think of the worst possible counterplay, which stops me from going to the face too often. For example, if I have a 3/2 on the board during turn 3 and an opposing druid has a 3/2 as well, I’ll probably trade, since their worst possible reversal could fuck me over quite badly (Mark of the Wild, coin into Keeper of the Grove, Mark of Nature for +4 HP).

Avenge…it almost makes me want to run Secretkeeper, now that Paladins have a secret to play besides GET DOWN.

You’ll lose a lot of games if you try to play around too many cards but that doesn’t mean you should be reckless either, play smart not safe. Learn which risks you can and cannot afford to take.

Yeah can’t wait to get wrecked on ladder by Undertaker + Secretkeeper Wombo Combo Paladins.

ves i got my first 12 win run last week, i felt so pro! then i went 0-3 straight after :frowning: my only ever 0-3, made me chuckle!

Been playing a control priest during this season and it’s starting to become my favourite class by far now (I also got a golden Velen yesterday

).

The cabal priestess is my waifu now, I’ve always loved the alchemist but she’s becoming my favourite card in the game and they synergies well with each other.

I think that @JuuM will like this one

There’s no way it will let you choose which minion, because they won’t stop the flow of action on an opponents turn for you to make a choice. It will be random, just given how hearthstone is designed, unless they introduce a new mechanic which delays it from going off until the beginning of your turn

Playing Zoo has helped me a bit in figuring out when to go for trades and when to go for face, which probably has something to do with why I’m doing better in arena. Speaking of which, I just tied my high with 8, and I’m still playing (with 2 losses). Yesterday morning my all-time high was 6 wins. Since then I’ve had 7, 8, 0, 1, 5, 5, and now 8+ wins.

The current run has been really amusing. It’s a druid deck, and in typical druid fashion, it has lots of huge stuff in the back. One druid of the claw, one yeti, two twilight drakes, two ironbarks, one boulderfist, one stormwind champion, one sea giant, and Hogger. I also have mark of the wild and mark of nature to taunt up anything else I have. I’ve won 3 games with less than 5 life in this run because they couldn’t get past my huge stuff in the late game.

The funniest game was in the previous run with shaman that I got 5 wins on. Guy plays Deathwing, wiping my board. Naturally, he has no cards since he played Deathwing. He has a 23-17 life advantage. I play a couple of minions and wrath Deathwing for 3, then get a taunt totem. He hero powers, deathwing hits taunt totem, plays his minion. I kill his minion, send the other one to the face, hero power, then play another minion and get another taunt totem. He uses hero power, smashes the taunt totem with Deathwing and plays another minion. I killed his minion, hero powered again, and summoned another taunt totem. He conceded with a deathwing on the board and me having 13 life.

Just got #9. New record for the 3rd time in two days.

And I’m at 10 now. And that’s where it ended. My reward was a pack and 350 gold.
