Just adding my opinion.
Agreed. Yeah, it is better than the original.
Additionally, as Sirlin said, how much is the grade of this game, as it is a remake? Should it be A, as the original is A? A+, as it is better than the original?
Or SS/100, as it is better than the original, and it has been like 12 years since it’s first release?
I think it should be the maximum. A game that survived so many years, with a few tweaks, works like a brand new with the old but good flavor.
outside of the bugs (and me realizing how much I suck) it’s the best fighter out until 2/17
Og ST>hd remix. I’ve seen so much glitchy shit in hd remix. Hd remix is fun, but the og st is better inho.
No offense to whoever worked on HD remix, But I cant stand the game most of the time. It can be hella fun but the glitchiness of the game is a MAJOR turn off. Original ST is far better than HD remix
I agree.
The music is ok, but and some the characters look ugly. (Too cartoon-E)
I feel like I’m playing a Super Nintendo game… port on to Sega Genesis.
AKUMA Is BROKEN if you Can Raging Demon on Command(like your Raging Demon skills have an 80% execution rate)
Anyone with Raging Demon Skills Should have no problem cheesing.
cammy was supposed to be a beast, but failed. sagat was beefed up a bit. HD remix…didn’t do its purpose for me…
The music fucking sucks in HD remix imo lol
They spent all that time on graphics and the shit still looks like shit, Id rather look at the old sprites. At least they left that option in the game because the new shit sucks ass. I dont even know what they were thinking with akuma to be honest.

Cosmetically, the Original ST is superior in every way. The original characters, music and backgrounds are much better than STHD. The gameplay on STHD is much better than the original. STHD is still very fun.
OGST’s controls were retartedly difficult.
I like HD better than OG so far, but goddamn… This is one fucking buggy game. I’m playing on PS3, and I get nothing but match drops, connection errors, kicks to the lobby, and outright freezes on some nights. I even deleted it and re-downloaded it. That helped a bit, but not enough. Most of my friends play on 360, and they have the same problems. The game got ‘Backboned’, and it’s starting to affect how much I enjoy the game overall.
In addition to the weird graphics glitches and connection errors, the game constantly forgets my stick configuration, which is probably the worst thing it could do. I drop into a ranked quick match and find out that, hey, my fierce is suddenly not where it’s supposed to be. That’s sort of a problem.
I read that SSIITHDR has moved nearly 300 thousand sales so far. Hopefully, Capcom will patch it, as it’s clearly a success, and hopefully, they’ll keep Backbone out of it from now on.
EDIT: Oh yeah: Honda is a fucking BEAST now. Does he even have one bad match up?

Edit: I like STHD but it needs to fix some bugs. Thanks Spuddlyff8fan I did not know that would be a consequence of rolling.
You can be banned for rickrolling.

After playing the game a lot since its release, I’m going to have to go with the crowd and rate it thusly:
Gameplay: A+
Coding: F
No game is perfect, and some things could still be ironed out (such as Akuma not working as intended), but so far it has eclipsed ST. As far as balance goes, HDR is not just a little better, it’s much better.
However, HDR is probably the single most buggy game I have ever played, out of hundreds. Even the first day, it was glaringly obvious that the game had major issues. I cannot believe how much of a mess it is. Every single thing one can think of is bugged in some way (or many ways, even), whether it’s the (dis)connections, the menus, the HUD, the graphics, the music, the voices, the sound effects, the inputs, the leaderboards, the balance, and much much more! I can’t believe it, I really can’t. It’s a complete fiasco.
We have paid to play the second beta test of a great game. I just hope the inevitable patch will truly fix all the issues that have been pointed out (even though there are new bugs being found on a daily basis), and not make it a third beta.
This is the goddamned fucking truth.
Also true. I’d rather look and listen to the SNES SSF2 NW.
Gotta disagree here. Fucking gay ass new motions and character nerfs can suck a dick. Not you got all these people trying to use T.Hawk and Zang because they can finally do a SPD (scrub pile driver) with the pussy motion. I also had NO issues with Fei’s original kick.

Definitely like this one better than the original. All the changes and tweaks that i’m aware of so far seem like they were for the better. I still suck nuts at this game though so take my opinion with a grain of salt like fries from Wendy’s.
Im Digging it. At first I wasnt going to get it, but once I got it… its been a blast.
Pros: they made it even easier for 'Geif, T.Hawk and Honda to grab fools!
Cons: conditioning my mind to either command grab the vanilla way or the Remix way.

I’m still not getting all these “buggy” critics. Aside from some lag issues (which seem to be MUCH more present in tournaments than casual matches), I haven’t actually stumbled upon too many bugs, and if they did, it seemed more like a rarity than the actual norm.

The health bar glitch is absolutely stupid.
Its even worse that two people from the same console, even on different Xbox live tags, can not be in the same online games.
Also, Im not able to join certain friends even though they live down the street from me. We spent all night trying to fix the problem but nothing was solved. Whats weirder is that we were in the same party but couldnt get in the same game.

I don’t care about the graphics, or the balance, or the soundtrack, or whatever. The new easier controls mean this is the only version of SF2 I’m playing.
Yeah, the multiplayer is buggy as heck, but so is Gears 2’s multiplayer. And that’s also a really fun game. Hopefully there’s a patch due.
Try running an offline tournament. Doing button config from the options menu is pointless since the game doesn’t always (if ever) save it; you have to start a match, set your buttons, then quit and go back to character select.
Another major problem specific to PS3 (the console everyone uses for tourneys, remember) is that if you unplug a converter and put a different type in its place, you have to reset the game. The home button still works, but the game won’t recognize any of the directions or buttons until you reset.
Online, I’ve gotten the lifebar glitch a few times and had days where I kept getting disconnected from player rooms. And I’m one of the recipients of the 0 rating bug.
This game seriously needs a patch if it’s going to be at Evo. The shoddy programming makes tournaments take far longer than they should.
