Likewise, especially with UMvC3 coming up. Speaking of that game, I heard Doom’s projectiles have quicker start-up speed this time around in the game.
Whatever the juice is, I hope it stays in Ultimate.We dont want to have the whole Vanilla gen catastrophe where an important part of his gameplay (the focus parries) was found literally like 3 months before Super came out and then was completely removed from Super along with alot of other stuff.
Doom buffs to beams, and jumping Laser Gun sound good! I hope Ghost Rider and Doom make for a good duo.
If that’s true, then they probably have worse recovery or something to balance them out. I say this because his projectile game already includes frame traps and near-guaranteed chip setups (blocking a L Photon Shot already guarantees that the opponent will have to at least block a follow-up Plasma Beam in most situations). If they made his projectiles start-up faster without them taking longer somewhere else, it’d be practically impossible to approach him.
Maybe Capcom saw how ridiculous it was for Magneto to have a better zoning game (with less tools) than Doom. I also been hearing stuff about Dormammu’s zoning tools having less startup as well.
Well, that certainly happened as fLoE confirmed that Magneto’s Disruptor was significantly slower in Ultimate.
I’m not saying they can’t make Doom better at zoning. Adding faster start-up while increasing the recovery period of his moves would still be a buff to his zoning game unless they add a disproportionate amount of recovery time. All I’m suggesting is that any noticable increase in start-up of his projectile attacks while making no other adjustments would make it his zoning game unapproachable for many characters.
Skillian was talking about the secret doom technique on the capcom stream just now. He thinks that clockwork knows it and is going to use it at EVO. Skill says its very buggy and it is removed in UMvC3.
I spammed the Unity stream just now while Seth is answering questions.
“What is the secret Doom tech you mentioned on WakeupSRK?”
Seth said watch Clockwork out at EVO, he “might” have figure it out.
Seth then repeated what Sven said next to him that this “secret tech” doesn’t work in UMvC3. He was saying this is due to something being buggy that they fixed.

im kinda in agreement that its not going to be that great a discovery…but i guess to be optimistic, we can hope its something good…im just hoping it isnt something like doing an immediate Xfactor after a grounded plasma beam and jumping so that the beam jumps with you…because i wouldnt really call that “secret tech”…let alone technology…its just something you can do once in a match that looks unintended (as far as i know, he’s the only character that can do this and have this type of effect, but ill admit i havent done extensive testing on it with the rest of the roster)

True…but then again, Phoenix isnt always in play and utilizing Xfactor (whether its because she got snapped in and killed before getting 5 meters, you pop it to save yourself from a bad situation, pop it to get rid of “the problem”, etc.) so its not exactly unreasonable to think that whatever this secret tech is involves using Xfactor. That said, i do agree with you that it seems unlikely (because Phoenix is on his team) and im actually hoping it doesnt involve Xfactor…but you gotta weigh all the possible options to figure out what this hidden tech is
lol I got caught off guard with UMVC3. I knew it’d come out but I didn’t expect it to be this soon. I think Doom’s overall technical ability has been exponentially increased with the addition of air x-factors and overall speed up. I’m also really liking the buff to his air :h:, the seems to travel a lot faster.
in addition, some other changes i noticed are…
his air throw forward in the corner causes a hard knockdown, making it even easier to maintain corner pressure and resets… just forward throw otg H into corner loop instead of trying to throw backwards and put yourself into the corner.
i could be mistaken but it seemed like his j.S causes a hard knockdown in air-to-air conditions even outside of launch/aerial rave state. at this rate he wont really need haggar assist as bad lol
That technology is stuff that characters in Guilty Gear can do like regularly without meter so I hope not. LOL.
The fact that whatever technology this is, is getting patched makes me care less. I hope whatever it is works solidly enough to use until Ultimate but I’d rather just improve my ability to play him as anchor and just keep him as a strong assist character otherwise. I’ll only need him to clean up a team and Dante and X23 + Doom beam lost without killing a character then something is terribly wrong and that’s why I’m fine with him in the back.
