It probably wouldn’t be if the ESRB rated it. If Mortal Kombat X can get away with an M rating when it shows very close up explicit gore with anatomical correct bodies with x-rays and the multiple slicing fatalities like Scorpion’s slicing the front of your skull off to zoom in close up of a partially severed brain and all that, what Hatred is doing is GTA level at worst.
haha, yeah… many times during that video, especially the sewer section… I’m wanting to yell at that dude for apparently forgetting he had about 4 or 5 grenades! Several SWAT guys all in one conveniently close-quarters situation shooting at him…he has 4 grenades and it did NOT occur to him to toss one of those sumbitches in their direction…he just keeps shooting…c’mon, son. After so many years of killing people in videogame-land this should be 2nd nature to all of us by now.
Just a few more days… hell yeah I’m looking forward to this.
I’m gonna own it just to make a point.
I’ve heard some funny things about the actual story of the game… only way to see if it’s true is to play it.
LET THE HATRED FLOW WITHIN YOU.
I’m gonna own it because I love 3/4 isometric view titles (starting with Syndicate, for me). And this game interests me.
Enjoying the game so far. It’s simple, mindless violence. I can definitely see some replay value to it. Definitely one of those games I will make sure my guests play or watch.
Only $20 on Steam. Eat a dick GOG.
Executing the innocent civilians regains your health.
…I wish I took the day off work today.
Watch the FBI monitoring this thread
I really feel like I was put on some sort of watchlist for buying it.
I think my only issue really right now, is shooting can be a nightmare sometimes (but probably cuz I suck), and people seem to be able to see through walls. Love watching a guy shoot a handgun into a brick wall one bullet at a time, trying to drill through the wall, just to hit me.
A fuckton of cops ran up on me, I went to toss a grenade out the front door to take out their cop cruiser, it bounces off the door frame, I run the fuck out of the room, the cops storm through the front door, grenade goes off. LMAO.
I’d be a terrible mass murderer, I’d laugh too often.

I like it. It’s basically a throw back to video games with shitty storylines where you just got around shooting at “bad guys”. Except you have a lot more NPCs who are innocent people in the mix. Of course it seems the only truly bad guys in this game are cops, so that makes you the the actual bad guy. Which means this is a good game if you’re one of those people that truly hate cops. It’s a rather ironic way of making a game for people who don’t give a shit about storylines and just want to fuck things up with some decent gameplay. I feel too many gamers need enthralling stories and connections with characters and that’s not really why I played games back in the 16 or 32 bit days. You just wanted an excuse to fight, race or blow shit up and test your reactions.
There’s been controversial stuff like this in the past any way. Carmageddon was one of my old favorite PC games and the whole point of the game was to purposely run over pedestrians and it probably got nowhere near as much heat as this game. Which in this game the monochrome visuals kinda detract me from the violent impact of the game. It gets you in the mood of what the guy is feeling rather than worry so much about shooting someone innocent in the face. Carmageddon was in full color and their bodies splattered all over your car and the ground when you ran over them. I’m assuming running over someone in this game is nowhere near as graphic.
I’ll pick it up. Just got a new comp and only 20 bucks.
Been playing it. Actually has a little challenge to it, surprise surprise.
Main thing gotta remember is to get to all the respawn points asap, and pour as least amount of ammo into the dumb civvies as possible.
Cause fuck the SWAT.
It’s a good game if you liked old school straight up shoot-em-ups, like Contra. You’re basically just running around shooting dudes with terrible AI (people just standing in the middle of a room in their house, doing nothing, as you go on a city-wide rampage), while running around finding powerups to re-heal (in this games case, dude’s you just wounded, that need to be finished off). I got to the military base (stage five or something?) and promptly got shot to shit trying to smash through the front gate. Gotta rethink that strategy. The end game seems to pretty much involve lots of hit and run tactics. Go and kill a bunch of cops/swat/feds/military, then run the fuck away, and find a civilian to kick down and execute to refill your health. Then go back and finish off whoever you left alive.
I still enjoy the game, but it’s not this genre changing game, nor is it worth the bad publicity.
Playing whack-a-mole doesn’t make me an animal abuser, and playing this won’t make me into a killer.

It’s not.
Also, it’s just a video game.
“B-But video game portrays–”
It doesn’t matter. It’s a form of entertainment and it can be whatever it’s trying to accomplish.
Hatred was trying to be a video game with endless violence, nothing more. Don’t try too hard to look into it, cause you’re not gonna find any deep meaning. Movies have done things like this in the past and they are never hated on. In fact, people give them their own genre title (summer movies or some shit).
And as mentioned before, in terms of how extreme this game gets, it’s very tamed. I remember playing Hotline Miami yelling to myself “oooh shit!” because of ways you can kill off people. I have oh shit moments in Hatred, not from the gore, but the stuff you can do in the game (like how destruction works in the game when derailing a train, or driving into a building and watching the aftermath, etc).
Also, LOL at dropping Extra Credits name. No one cares what they have to say. Literally, no one.
People bitching at something like this, when movies like Falling Down, or Crank are out there, showing virtually the same shit.
