I remember when I was posting in here back in 07 talking about Marvel 2 and playing pad, I got SO MUCH hate for one button dashing. This thread was a lot more savage back then.

Yeah people are too nice now and there’s quiet a few lames who have infiltrated.

I dunno…I just seem to do better on pad than on stick, and I grew up in the Age of Arcades.

Does Dibbz allow you to bring pads? (I use a SF4 FightPad, btw)

i think that its idealistic thinking and it attempts to hide innate limitations of using a ‘tool’ by creating a pseudo perfect user. perhaps someone can play on pad just as well is on stick, but since they are different how do you know that they arnt on a level that makes up the difference between the two? what if the stick had a certain ceiling on idk, lets say input response that is shorter than on a pad and the said player is over exerting to recreate a similar effect on the pad as the one on the stick takes less work? also you take for granted that the pad was designed with fighting games in mind and not back engineered out of necessity for general casual (maybe casual) player-base by companies trying to adapt hardware to software?
i also dont think that it would be hard to count the pros and cons of both and tally them up in their natural form to get a consensus on which is better, of course that would not work out well for the argument that accepts one as not being ‘stricktly better’ than the other

None of THAT can be done on stick…oh wait…

EDIT: Damn, more posts in a week today.

that’s only because the game controls have gotten much simpler overall, like doing rom on pad in mvc2 vs stick with a macro, IS cheating. Fanatic with the 1 button dash as well, ofc his tri jumps are better using a programmable pad. Just one of those things.

Sarah the tools do make the player better, I’ve heard both latif and vangief say there are certain things on pad that are not possible on stick. Like spinning spd much faster.

Dibbz Friday Night Fight Night…$2 venue, $5 entry fee (venue fee goes into your entry fee, so it’s $3 to enter) for AE tournament that starts at 10pm, prize is cash payout plus Dibbz gift cards for 1st 2nd and 3rd. Looking pretty promising. Has new info updated. Fridays will work out a lot better for people.

edit: That xbl message is hilarious. Who wrote it?

I am in fact a male, I just wasn’t sure why it was being questioned or mattered.

30 / M / Baton Rouge (Formerly of NY state) if you’re wondering.

this has made my night lmao

edit: For shame! You’re a married man!

The previous XBL message explained that :stuck_out_tongue:

Also, to toss in on the pad vs. stick debate:

Either works, but I compare it to like a automatic transmission to a standard. Either will get you where you are going, but I feel like you have more control in general using a stick. I played a lot of pad in the early DC days (Marvel 2) before I could get my hands on a Green Goblin. I’m older than most of you, and grew up playing mainly in arcades. So I genuinely prefer them from a nostalgia / fun aspect. I do believe it’s preference in the end, but if you are going to dedicate hundreds of hours into trying to master (or even get very good) at a fighter, a stick is the way to go.

If you are going to play on pad, at least try and get one with a proper D Pad. The PS3 one might be fine, but the Xbox default pad is a freaking abomination to play fighters on.

Hey wasup! I know it’s been a second since I posted but i just thought you guys were wondering about the Fight Night @ Dibbz upgarde.

We are getting moved from Monday to Friday! plus we’re taking tournaments a little more seriously!

Have a look at the Facebook Event Page for more details!

hey…i actually like this

GG all, solder that wasn’t me fyi… LA trollin.

Shout out to me being the worst sf4 player in BR…period. But honestly from what I saw the last 2-3 weeks BR has alot of good/smart players Loyal Sol added to that also. Potential to get even better for alot if not all of you is there.

Mike No mvc3…? I was so looking forward to it after last week.

or maybe it was you…and you’re trollin him now

Exactly. Don’t believe him Solder. I watched him type out asking if you were a girl or not.

As someone who just came to LA I’ve found a very import rule: If something doesn’t make sense then you are being trolled. Everyone down here is smart, they just choose to use that inteligence for evil.

Higher entry fee for tournaments ? Now I’m interested in Dibbz again <3 !

u free dawg.
