Christ, if the response to every concern a fan brings up is “If you don’t like it, don’t buy it!” then there really is no room for discussion, is there? And I clearly stated that I DO like the comics in my first post, so what are you moaning about?
Anyway, I can’t comment on the events of issue #14 since I live in Belgium and we usually get a few weeks delay before the latest issues arrive, but at least I’m glad to hear Ryu is off to find Sagat again. I hope the man sticks to his path this time.
I’m not moaning about shit. What I DO find annoying is people saying shit that Udon has lost the plot and bitch about the comic and STILL go and buy it. While it’s fine and dandy for sales, it’s a bit hypocritical to me.
I also happen to think it’s gone a little bit past just minor critiques in this thread.
Still dosnt change the fact that you dont/wouldnt know what my “usual shit” as I just started posting here for the first time in like 6 months.
Also EVERYone sees this…

There is no “been ghosting here for almost 6 months” or whatever amount of time you want to make up, ie there’s no proof how long you’ve been here other then Mar 2005 (newbie)
Just because Ryu says he is going to find Sagat, doesn’t necessarily mean that he will do so in the next issue. Or even in the same story arc.
I predict that the third arc will focus more on Ryu’s search for Sagat. And hopefully a Final Fight sub-plot running alongside the main story. Those Final Fight guys NEED some exposure!
I can’t believe some of you have posted up to 16 times in this thread arguing with the most lame stupid ass posts I have every read in my life.
And don’t bother trying to bash me because this is probably the last time I will ever look into this thread and it will just make you an even bigger dick hole for posting again.
For the record, 14 issues are already out. If the comic sucked or went into the wrong direction then it would not have made it this far.
and your post is also one of “the most lame stupid ass posts I have every read in my life”. so welcome to the club twelve death
Even though SF2 is starting, the characters are horribly develope and thats one reason why I hate Rose in the comic book so far. Udon did loose its magic touch with the series storyline, so lets hope the 3rd arc will improve on this and actually drive the series in the right direction, if not, then get ready for a accident. like i say, i gave up on the SF story for now and just buying them for their art. but i havent given up hope for Rose yet:karate:
With Bison beaten in Issue 5 or so and Charlie dying around then and Delta Red Cammy coming in shortly after (two out of three of SFA3’s biggest plots coming to conclusion in only 6 or so issues), one could technically say that Alpha ended a while ago, anyways, and since then we’ve been in this bizarre intermissionary period between SFA3 and SF2 (well, I guess there’s still Evil Ryu that’s supposed to be resolved before SF2 but… eh, that one will probably be resolved during SF2 if not SF3 in the comic at this rate).
Not that the comic resembles the canon in the minuite details of chronological in-game storyline events, although as pointed out, the biggest ones (Charlie dying, Cammy going to Delta Red) were done. …a long time ago. So long ago in fact that I imagine that might be one of the reasons why the comic seems rather directionless to some people (like I said, Charlie and Bison dying along with Cammy going to Delta Red means the comic is in this bizarre intermdiary period between SFA3 and SF2 now). Logically-speaking, the plot will (hopefully) regain its direction once SF2 starts then.
Of course, this does bring to question what the hell Udon is going to do about the majority of the canon Alpha plot points that basically got left behind, although with the (ridiculously blatant, sadly) exception of the Final Fight characters, at this point I imagine Udon would just skip most of them if they hope to retain some semblance of direction in the comic, although many of them could be wrapped up or attended to in the SF2 arc, as well (Rose vs Bison and the Dolls). Some of them like Gen vs Akuma might not be touchable until SF3. And some, like pretty much every bit SFA character such as Adon, Birdie, R. Mika, and even Dan and Karin, are ones that could or will simply be dropped entirely.
I think Rose will become more important when she confronts Bison.
I agree with the fact that the story must be hell on the writers since thet got all these characters going in different directions. But you can’t please everyone. I’m sure if they didn’t bring out all the characters there would be hell to pay.
The first six issues were a test run right ? It feels like an bizarre intermissionary period cause now they are taking there time and developing the characters.
Actully intermission is kind of harsh. I don’t understand why everyone is acting like the characters got nothing accomplished. Vega got his revenge and Sakura learned the fireball. Cammy and Chun-li got to develope more and Bison was brought back to life. It dosen’t have to follow the canon to be good right?
If they kept up the fast pace of the first 6 issues it would be over to fast. I like the slow down pace of the issues 7 - 14 #
Of course maybe I’m just saying this cause Street Fighter and Walking Dead are the only comics I collect.
The story dosen’t have to stay in order to the video games to be good. The only thing I wishing for is that comic does well enough to finish the SF 3 storyline.
I just wish reading Tiamat’s post that they had kept it slow paced from the very start now. Still I suppose that came down to the contract limit, they had to try and make it in just three years at first.
I agree that it would have been nice if the pace had been slower for the first arc (second arc even). I remember reading issue #5 for the first time and thinking “what the hell?” But I also agree with gabrielzero in that the story doesn’t need to follow the video games “storyline” to the dot to be good. I like what Udon has done with Street Fighter so far.
I have to ask… am I the only one who wouldn’t mind an entire issue dedicated to exploring just one character? Say like the next issue just having Ryu think about stuff by himself and somehow tell a story that way (maybe similar to Issue #0). It doesn’t have to be Ryu, or it could even be two characters. Like maybe one section of Bison and the other of Rose? I think this would be cool. I also think it’d be cool if we could see more Evil Ryu and I’ve always liked flashbacks (within main story).
Just wanted to add, it never seems like any of the characters just sit down and think about shit, like one would in real life (Udon can even do this to introduce a character). Street Fighter doesn’t need to be all action. In fact, I wouldn’t mind issues going by without even one fight.
Another idea… how about nightmare sequences? Not flashbacks, but nightmares. Maybe Ryu having a nightmare about Akuma or Sagat killing Ken or something. How about Bison getting a hold on Ken and programming him into a Cammy-like killer? These can even foreshadow events.
They tried that already with Cammy, and everyone bitched and moaned because not everyone likes Cammy. It’ll be the same with any other character they try it with. It’s impossible to make everyone happy with this comic. There will always be someone who wants their favorite character to have more page time, and the current one to have less.
The rabid fanboy syndrome is always much much worse when it comes to stories featuring a huge cast of characters.
You just have to be patient. If you read my post in the SF #14 thread, I predicted they were combining the remaining Alpha plots with SF2.
Good point, Apathy-Inc. I think the thing with Cammy was that she is one of the characters that not a lot of people liked as much to begin with, plus she was already getting tons of page-time. However, I think there are still people that DID like how Udon did that, since it developed her character more. I think it would work better for introducing new characters (in Street Fighter 2), or just the SF2 characters, since SF2 seems to be the most popular. Even with the bitching from fanboys, I still think it probably makes a better comic.
The comic isn’t bad, but I definitely didn’t expect Udon to take the storyline in the direction that they have. I’m not sure if that’s a good or bad thing yet, ‘cuz i’m not really sure where they’re goin’ w/ the storyline.
