In Mexico, this dude Quique (a friend of my half-brother’s) used to play KOF 94 all the time. We’d never really beat him because he had played SF before and we had no idea what the fuck to do, but when we eventually did start beating him, he’d always either try to turn off the machine on us, or he just would. This became pretty prominent in '96 when he couldn’t stop shit like Iori and he’d shut that shit down in a rage of scrubdom.

Speaking of which, D wanted to beat the shit out of me the first time he ever played me (we had no idea who the other was). We both found out who the other person was after we discussed SVC appearing at Flippers and then him going “yo there was some scrub that played Terry that only did buster wolf all day” and I’m like oh shit are you that asshole that did df+C everytime I jumped and he’s like “HAHA YOU FAG.” Good times knowing I barely escaped getting the shit kicked out of me!
we have a arcade downtown here with really NOTHING but oldschool games, and suprisingly dispite having third strike, alpha3 and super turbo. hyperfighting is by far the most popular game there. most of the players are kinda mid level to scrubby though so when you play they get REALLY pissed at throws…espessially throws out of block stun. many many times I’ve had to chill on my usual gameplan because the guy is getting too pissed off.
in many ways its lame. but…man do i love it. its so nostalgic when u get that feeling the guy next to you is gonna punch you because you just kicked his ass…to get that feeling in modern times, its just beautiful tear

back when i used to play xmvsf in junior high the only way u can touch the arcade was if u had skills or if u where down with a crew. Shit was crazy back then. If u where a newcomer and beat a arcade “favorite” u had better “hope u had your nike’s bro”. Niggas on my block used to be spazzing out in the pizza stores and barbershops in bk that they had to remove every arcade system that was along cortelyou rd. Man it was wild back in the day, people couldnt stand to lose, especially in a big crowd. I remember one time i went on a small 6 game winning streak against this guy in xmvsf and he was on some shit. dude was breathing all heavy and shit like he wanted to knock me out. luckily that was when i used to play football in junior high so i was sort of a weight lifting junkie. I dont know wat he wouldve done if i was a little dude.

Anyone ever have an experience with the “Michael Jackson” a.k.a the light your hair on fire while you’re playing strat. back in the day? I remember back in the day at the corner store when my bro ran Dhalsim all day on SF2 and he simply wasn’t being fucked with. So somone got jealous and came up from behind tryin’ to pull that shit, he probably got destroyed physically afterward. But yeah, shit was personal back then too.
when i was like 10, street fighter 2 was new, and i would hang out in this liquor store in downtown oakland chinatown to play their neo geo machines. this place was mad grimey, with fucking tags on the walls and shit and they would just sell any 5 year old cigs and a bottle of whiskey. anyway, one time there was a bunch of taiwanese kids playing some viets, and everyone was getting so mad it was just a matter of time before something jumped off. so one of the taiwanese guys starts spamming hadoukens, and next thing i know, with no warning at all, the viet who was playing just punches the monitor and stabs homeboy in the fucking chest. i was like WTF LOL ZOMG and ran away. then i went back later and practiced hadou’s. but i made sure nobody was around.
I somehow managed to come out unscathed by the golden age of fighting games.
I had finally reached the point of getting more wins than losses. Having been proud of that, I took pleasure in getting streaks beyond 5 wins. But my gut would always tell me that something was wrong when I got too many victories. Depending on where I was (or who was watching), I would:

[]occasionally look out the window of the place where I was, as if I was waiting on a bus, then leave when I saw a random bus, letting one of his friends take my game.
[*]lose, watch, and ask if I could play one of their rounds/characters if they’re having difficulty playing. Depending on their response, I would know if it was safe to challenge them again without the looming threat of getting jumped on by him and/or his friends if I won again.

To me, it was just a game. To others, it’s an extension of one’s manhood. As with any form of competition, no one wants to be on the losing end, especially against a random stranger, and in front of his own entourage. So, for my own safety, I tried never to beat them more than twice each, and never beat them on their last quarter if I sensed hostility.
Ah, those were the days… Who would have thought that putting a quarter in a machine could put your life in jeopardy?
usually after 1 person losing like 7-8 times in a row…then on the last one they lose brutally…then the loser says ‘‘ill kick your ass in real life’’…from there it goes into fuss fight then into a push then into a brawl.

well, i feel the point on, "it doesnt matter if its a game or if your in a club, disrespect is disrespect. now the level that you take it to is dependent on you. the dude was blatantly scared from your version of the story, so beating him up to the point that he was knocked out cold and supposedly sleeping in a pool of his own blood, is just to much. you were also talking about you having to tell your friend to leave the pistol at home, and that if you didnt stop it, dude would have basically been killed. how fucking ignorant are you? very, if you didnt know.
