Elena vs Twelve is pretty stacked in Elena’s favor. I watched Thongboy Bebop’s Twelve video once, and he mentioned that Elena can beat pretty much all of Twelve’s poking game with Back+Roundhouse…And, as an Elena player, that’s very true.
Actually, Twelve can do pretty well if he can get very particular distances - like, at very certain angles, an IAD Fierce Punch can beat Elena’s B+Hk because B+Hk doesn’t actually have hitboxes above her, only in front of her. Also, Elena doesn’t have an effective way to deal with Twelve’s Crossup J.Hk aside from just blocking. Lastly, Twelve’s dive attack can give him very, very limited success.
Personally though, I think this is a lopsided matchup that no one really thinks about, cos I mean how many people know Elena matchups that well? This one is stupid-easy for Elena when she just uses one move, don’t forget the rest of her repertoire.
The best guy at our 3s machine plays a very good oro. He turtles like crazy, and has the unblockables down to a science. I can poke and slap a good deal, but I can never get close enough to do any real damage.
Hugo vs Akuma
This one is pretty self explanatory. I’m just a huge target, although no where near as has hard as oro.
I also play Q. Hugo is my main man, 360’s for life. So no matter who I pick out of my characters, its always an uphill battle. That’s what makes it fun.
Definitely agree with you Ultra. It sucks but it is a fun challenge ( . . . for awhile)! I have learned that playing Q is very different. I have had tons awesome matches with Q that I ended up losing. All the guys give me crap because I always try to get better at Ken, but Q should be my main character . . . so now he is!! Well back on topic . . . that is what I believe is the worst match up, followed closely by Akuma vs Hugo :arazz: ( . . . parry . . . parry . . . dead).
I’ll stick out random c.LP and c.LK’s to keep her from randomly dashing in, ALWAYS try to parry her j.MK. Stay out of the air because all her air to airs will beat yours. You -can- get air MK off from the right distance, same with HP, but they have to be max distance and she has to stick something out first.
In mixups I like to jump buffer parry which beats grab and overhead (but not tick overhead). You can’t random wakeup super, cause she can grab you out of it, but you can super punish a blocked Hayate (errr whatever he dashing punch thing is called).
Or you can just be a fag like me and choose Ken when faced with a formidable Makoto
Yeah…that is a pretty bad match. Especially if they pick SA2 Oro. They can play the match really gay and just zone you with fireballs and fireball super all day long.
I hate hate hate Q vs Makoto. Yun is also pretty hard but I haven’t had nearly as much problems with him than her. Good Chuns are also very frustrating…
Q has some bad match ups ! Like the others mentioned, I would also say that Makoto and Yun are one of the worst, but imo Ibuki is also a very big poblem for Q (9-2 imo).
I played one year, as Q in Japan and I got used to fight and win against good Makoto and Yun players , but Ibuki is still a problem for me ! Ibuki’s rush is so fast, that there is no real chance for zoning ! Good skills in Red Parry helps to get out of Ibuki’s poke chains, but it’s not easy!
Disreguarding Sean, some of the more fucked up matchups I know are:
Hugo vs Elena
Hugo vs Ibuki
Twelve vs Elena
Alex vs Chun
Oro vs Chun
You don’t see too many really good Elena players out there, so I think a lot of people don’t really know just how fucked up some of her match-ups are. She really shuts Hugo and Twelve down completely without much effort.
