imo the hardest one to learn is smash. between the execution of wavedashing and shit like shit combos and the wild oki mind games the whole thing is just outta this world. thats my thoughts
How did no one mention Super Street Fighter 4? The savior of the fighting game genre?
ST, in my opinion.
For me it is MvC2. I enjoy fighting against the computer or my brother, but when I try to fight decent people online I lose badly. Game seems to consist of things that are improbable or impractical to the regular rules and mechanics of most fighting games. I guess my problem is is that I’m trying to treat it like an SF game.
For me anyway, VF took some time to get down. ST, MvC2, those games I quickly picked up on in like I dunno…a week or two.
LOL don’t laugh at me but
RF (Rumble Fighter): It really was the first “Fighter” I was ever really good at. It was
also like stepping stones for me to get back into street fighter. I used to play SF a lot when i was younger. Around 2000-2002,
yannno, when kids actually liked fighting games.( i was 5)
and
MvC2
ST took me a great amount of time to adapt to, However its
King of Fighters (mostly 2002 & 98) for me. I like it more then any other fighting game but taking a long time to adapt to it.
I got a good amount of BnB’s down but IDK maybe its the Short Hops and quick overheads, also the game at times can be so fast pace that it feels like marvel(i kinda like that). Im still learning though im not quiet there yet. Been playing kof hardcore for like a Year and a half. I main Yamazaki , Vice, And Mature.
P.S. them kof ggpo players are crazy good. I’m getting better by just playing them.
MvC2 was definately a hard game to get into. hell, I’m still trying to figure it out. It really takes alot of the stuff from other 2D fighters, and kranks it straight up to 11.
but, it was also my first Capcom fighter, so that prolly didn’t help much. fun as hell though.
APM is the hardest fighting game because it has more mindgames and combos than any other fighting game, second hardest would probably be cybersport
3D - Virtua Fighter
2D - Guilty Gear

Weaponlord was my shit
multiple top players have came out and said that mvc2 is the hardest 2d game to play. Mainly because 99% of 2d fighters are 1v1, while the other 1% contain assists. IMO, no 2d game comes even close because of that. Needles to say that in mvc2 the execution ceiling is high, the defensive ceiling is high, even basic play is kinda high.
3d fighters are blah. After playing tobal 2 a few years ago, I still think its one of the best 3d fighters to date. TK\VF prevent you from being 100% 3d, tobal 2 allows your character to run\walk\jump 8 ways which makes TK\VF shit by comparison in terms of movement. Tobal 2 definitely has the better throw game than any fighter so far IMO as well. When I look @ tobal 2 which was made in 96 then I look @ t6, I kinda just shake my head @ what could of been. Where 2d games evolved from SF to mvc2, 3d games have remained stagnant if not regressed @ the tournament level.
Honestly if you’re a 3d fan go play tobal 2 and ask yourself why some of those mechanics were never stolen and implemented into future 3d games. Its one of the best fighting games you’ve NEVER heard of.
MvC2 seems impossible at first but when you learn the simplest things your game levels up like crazy!
id say VF would be the hardest
who cares
