Happy Birthday Dreamcast

Games that weren’t released in the U.S.: REZ, Shenmue 2, Ikaruga, Cosmic Smash, Head Hunter, Samba De Amigo 2, Yu Suzuki Collection, CvS2, Space Channel 2, Fighting Vipers 2, PSO sequels

Games that moved to other systems, but were originally supposed to come out on the DC: Jet Set Radio Future, Gun Valkeryie, Shinobi, Super Monkey Ball, Odama, Billy Hatcher, VF4

System still had a good couple years left in retail, but the system couldn’t be appreciated like it is today. A lot of that is because how the console space is now, and what the future promises turned into.

I traded my n64 and games straight up for dreamcast. Single greatest decision I ever made

i love the dc this much bruh

I’m sad that I sold both my Power Stones to a shady dealer when I was strapped for cash. Them plus both Sonic Adventures and various N64 games for $10 (yes I am an idiot). I thought back thinking I was a big fool for doing it.

Funny. The last time I drove past where the store was it’s now an adult store where you can buy dildos and strap ons… I’m glad them bitches are gone.

JEEEET GGGRRRRRRIIIND RAAADDDIIOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Sonic Adventure 1 & 2, Sword of Berserk: Guts Rage (coz why not?), Fighting Vipers, 3S, MvC 1 & 2, Shenmue, Mars Matrix, Skies of Arcadia, Crazy Taxi, Soul Calibur, NFL Blitz, DoA 2, and the list goes on…

I’ve fond memories of playing House of the Dead on dc controllers with my brother. I never owned one sadly, so I still don’t know what those vmus were for.

when you say dreamcast on this site the mvc2 is silent

correct spelling is dreamvc2cast

Singlemost fun I ever had playing vidgames was with MVC1 in ‘crossover’ mode where you play tag team 2 vs two. Dreamcast was best system imo.

I heard Bleem! had a bootdisk for entire PS library, and they just started releasing individual disks to maximize revenue stream. Before long they got lawsuited. Anyone know if that universal PSboot disk is true?

um…SUCC MY BLEEM!

either way you’re getting screwed

One of the good games the Dreamcast had was…

But the GOAT as far as games go was…

The Dreamcast was the first console I ever bought on launch day. I still have it and bust it out once in a while to play some Shenmue, Grandia 2 and some Capcom fighting games. Man if only Sega didn’t fuck things up before the Dreamcast.

Grandia 2 was great. One of the few RPG games I ever owned

This is all you need to know about Dreamcast. Last year I did a blog on my ten favorite video games of all-time and Dreamcast had the most in the countdown at 3.

Sure it was only around for 2 years, but in those two years Sega and the game developers were able to produce magic in that time period, an it had the true version of the best fighter of all-time; Marvel vs Capcom 2. Best fighting game console of all-time in my book and by a wide margin.

Yes the Dreamcast flamed out fast and it didn’t have the longevity of the other great consoles but I compare it to Hendrix, Biggie Smalls, Salvador Sanchez. All of those artists and athletes produced magic in their brief careers and that will live on forever. That’s it I’m busting out the Jet Set Radio.

Ah, the Dreamcast, the system that made up my childhood.

Crazy Taxi, Tony Hawk Pro Skater, Vitura Fighter 3, Sonic Adventures, Bust-A-Move 4, The House of the Dead 2, Power Stone (demo), Ready 2 Rumble Boxing (demo), Sega GT, Tokyo Xtreme Racer, Ultimate Fighting Championship, and Virtua Striker 2. As fun those games were, I waste a hella of time with Marvel vs Capcom 2 and Phantasy Star Online.

I did play a little bit of MSH vs SF & MvC in the arcades but playing MvC2 all the time made like the Marvel Vs. series, in fact, had I not play MvC2, I sure as hell wouldn’t be getting back into FGs and wouldn’t appeared on this site. I think PSO may me stop playing MvC2 a lot and I always play it as soon as I got home from school. But I haven’t finish it and I’m mad about it because I don’t have the game and the Dreamcast anymore.

Fun Fact: My brother got the Dreamcast for me & my little bro and he went to live in New York for a year or two. When he came back, a friend of his gave him another Dreamcast with a VMU and two games; MvC2 & PSO. I barely realized a little while ago that someone from NY gave my bro a MvC2 game (the friend must of been a Marvel 2 player or knew a Marvel 2 player)

Anyways, I’ll never forget this intro.

man, when that DC intro kicked in, you just knew you were about to have a lot of fucking fun

Never got to enjoy the console because my brothers hogged it most of the time. I remember them playing marvel vs capcom while I just watched because the mechanics were too fast for me to comprehend; but now I bought my own copy and the arcade stick. I’m still pretty bad but I’m working on it. They released so many fighting games and shmups its crazy. I hope the prices for the games on this system don’t get too expensive. Project Justice and most of the shmups are already ridiculously expensive.

lol spawn???

wasnt that the game u could beat entirely, just by pressing KICK? Even bosses and shit?

edit: or was that the Playstation one, and the DC had the crazy battle arena shit?

DC was battle arena style.
