There’s a tournament at Lovegetty on 07/07. I’m going to attend it after popping into York U to settle a couple things. I’m going for the Accent Core tournament and want everyone to join. The tourney is free (paid for by Getty) and after getting peaced out, we can go eat KBBQ in the same plaza. I’d be willing to drive and the tourney isn’t until 5:00pm so we wouldn’t even have to get up early. You guys want to go?
Working…no KBBQ for me.
Sorry, can’t make it out, got work.
I’m going to Wonderland that day.
IMPORTANT NOTICE CONCERNING NOMINATED GAMES AT T8
If you’ve been lazy so far, I suggest getting on the ball if you want to save a lot of the games from being dropped.
THE T8 REGISTRATION PAGE IS OPEN
Please sign up. If you need to add or subtract games, please re-do your entry exactly as you had it before and fill the form out again except with the changes. We strongly encourage everyone to register. It’s very quick and would greatly help out the staff.
T8 in less than 48 hours:nunchuck:
Who is showing up to this?
Besides me/Jamie/Vanny/Justin/Darko.
Somebody pillage Jimmy’s setup. AKA get his DC -> PS2 adapter and his USB -> PS2 adapter. It’d be a big help.
This is probably a great indication of how well I run at Formac(whine whine cry cry). Went into the tourney today cause I was craving poker. Sorry to Vanny and Justin for not showing tonight BTW.
I get into a limped pot with Q9 with about four people in the pot fairly early on. Blinds I think were 50/100.
Flop is J 10 8…all diamonds.
It gets checked to me so I bet 300 into a 450ish pot to see what reaction I get. Guy to my left raises up to 800. Everyone else bails so it gets back to me and I couldn’t put him on the flush so I called. I suppose I could have put a re-raise in here but I really wanted to see the turn first mostly considering I didn’t want to see a fourth diamond.
Turn is another J. Paired board. Not a good card. I check. Guy, who I saw slow playing a full house earlier checks behind me which doesn’t make me happy.
River is a 10. Wow, the board PAIRED TWICE. I’m acting first, so I make a bet of 1000. I guess this is the part I’m debating more than anything…not sure if this was a good idea. I guess I just wanted to make it seem like I was value betting a J or to just take the pot down in case he missed or if he just had the A of diamonds and was looking for the flush all along.
As soon as the guy starts going into the tank, I’m already convinced his check on the turn was another slow play of a full house. Sure enough, he goes over the top all in after posturing for a couple of minutes. It takes me only a few seconds to fold the Q 9 face up. The guy turns over J 10. Not just a full house but two sets of sets. Must be nice.
You know what the hardest thing about poker is? Sitting there and only winning pots with middle pair or by stabbing while the two guys to your immediate left are hitting boats, straights and flushes like there’s no tomorrow. When I finally got knocked out in a race(AQ vs 66) where the same guy with the J 10 rivers a Q, I had to seriously go outside and just almost scream my lungs out.
Oh well, if anyone wants to make fun of me, add constructive criticism, tell me to stop wasting my time at Formac, ignore me, by all means go ahead. I’m just posting this to vent. :wonder:
Oh well…fuck that, time to have fun at T8.
The hand was over after the flop. I don’t think it matters how you played the hand after you got raised and only called.
Well, I am playing someone who had shown a couple of times that he slowplays the nuts. That could have been used as evidence that raising meant he had something…but not a flush. I’d have been a bit more concerned if he’d just called. So I thought my straight was good at that point(and I was right) but had a good chance of not holding up(and yeah, it didn’t).
But yeah, I’ll just run and hide everytime I see three of the same suit on the board now. That makes a lot of sense.
Justin is right as the hand is over after the flop. What that means is that, you should be making a decision on the flop, and shouldn’t have to be thinking about anything on the turn. This is sooooooooo read based.
If you think he is drawing or doesnt have a flush, you shove/raise.
If you think he has a flush, fold because you are dead.
The hand is OVER after the flop. There are so many scare cards that you have to push your edge if you believe you are ahead. You push your straight if you think you are right, you lose, you go home.
PS. The river bet was the worst bet in the history of value towns.
T8 was fun, no more tourney’s til T9 for me, maybe longer.
Thanks to John for hosting and taking us around all weekend. Asian food run ftw.
Spicy bites were over-rated.
KBBQ was fun.
Me: Hi i’d like a ginger ale.
Waiter: huh?
Me: Ginger ale please.
Waiter: ginger?
Me: COKE!!
Waiter: oh, ginger ale!
Waiter comes back "here’s your ginger ale"
Gives me a coke
oh and seeing the rolled over transport truck on the way home was crazy:looney:
Yeah, props to John for housing us. Fun weekend.
Fob Waiter owns Rey for free.
good night out nice to see you guys again
More comedy at Formac from me for your enjoyment…
Blinds 50-100, Larry raises in early position for 500, I’m on the cutoff and look down at 10J off suit and decide to call. Keon in big blind calls.
Flop is 7 8 9, rainbow. Larry bets out 500 into 1500 pot. I call. Keon folds(he said he folded AK).
Turn is a K. Rainbow. Larry bets 500 again. I raise to 1500. Larry reraises putting me all in. I call.
River is an 8. What’s worse is I dealt it. GGPO me.
Larry had 99.
Go ahead and mock how I played it to your heart’s desire. I really don’t care.
I just need to stop flopping straights and two pair. Only thing I ever win with at Formac these days is middle pair.
Oh and congrats to Teddy and Matt for Thursday…good shit.
EDIT: Oh yeah, and on the bus ride home, as I was leaving the bus, the door shut on me and it hurt. What a day.
It’s a bad call pre flop but your post flop play couldn’t have been any better. That’s just bad luck.
Fuck, that bus door owned me hard.
tyty, I wonder if anyone mentioned my awesomeness call with 2-5 os against Larry. God I’m good.
