bizclip? What is that. Yea i never really meant anyone in hamilton that knows how to play ssf4 at even a decent level but in toronto i know there a few beasts. JSmasters, solidryu, and a balrog but im not going that far. I probably should have posted here in the summer when i was really free. Also Who shows up and is it just a get together? i also only play on ps3 so my TE stick only connects to ps3 and i cant play on pa.
Bizclip is a studio downtown. That ESC is going to be running tournaments/ casuals out of. Team Lucid was running weeklies, but it kinda died off, unless your really into third strike or smash. The best bet is for Vince/RXS house, he plays at a lot of events and has played against some top players, hes probably your best bet to level up. Theirs a lot of other people but they are only interested in casuals. Also St.Kitts crew is relatively competitve so if you have a car or can find a ride, its worth checking out, plus they have a nice venue.

there’s plenty of Hamilton players, and there’s a few notable ones too that have won tournaments in the past. Most of the top players are older now and don’t play as often due to other obligations (kids, work, girlfriends etc). As for being a part of the wider community, i’m pretty much the only person who is actively making their way out to Toronto/GTA area to play on a regular basis from Hamilton these days. There are a few people who tag a long with me on a semi regular basis,but there’s always spots open.
As for Bizclip, nothing’s come up on my radar lately though that joint has been brought up to Hamilton players more than a few times to no fruition. I don’t mind picking a day and running casuals at my house on a consistent basis, just seems like everyone is too poor/lazy to bus it down to the east end.
And if you haven’t already, visit the IRC Chat channel, most of the local players sit in there and just chill. It’s easy to find online matches with locals there and casuals usually get setup there first. you can use http://www.mibbit.com to connect to server EFNET channel #GHSF
There’s a number of players in Hamilton that are down for playing offline, and are always looking for more people to do it with. I think a big part of why the Hamilton scene seems dead is the lack of communication between players (take Hidden Hamilton for example, is it really necessary to be “hidden”?). To be fair though, a lot of Hamilton players are currently hidden so to speak.
Having 3 different platforms of social communication doesn’t really help the situation either. Maybe we could at the very least post the IRC info in the OP of this thread so people don’t have to wait around for one of us to post it for them.
As RXS said, the number people travelling around the GTA/Golden Horseshoe area to play is small, but that doesn’t mean we can’t travel within our own city to play each other. It’d be cool if Hamilton’s players (myself included) made more of an effort to actually play with people in our local scene.
Anybody who wants to play offline (or online), PM me and I’ll give you my msn/email/XBL so we can at least be able to set something up without having to plan it days ahead on a forum.
That’s actually a really good idea. Not that anyone reads OP in threads on the internet these days, but within the next day I’ll turn it into something worth looking at for general info (IRC, facebook, etc.)
Just come out to RXS’s house, its nice and fairly competitive. I’ll probably be there this sunday, contact RXS for details. Its the only consistent thing in Hamilton for competitive SF. like I said their are pockets of gamers everywhere, but they don’t seem open to inviting random people and what not. Vince is the only one who has opened his doors to the general SF community. You could come out to Lucid’s hang out, but be prepared for like 5 hours of third strike to 20 minutes of ssf4ae.

I will post the next time team Lucid runs a 3s session. Their is no Hidden Hamilton its basically a funny inside joke/catch all term for the majority of Team Lucid plus any additional SF players in the area that don’t actively go to tournaments or casuals, but play competitively/casualy at home or online or with friends only. Hidden Hamilton was the name used to refer to Team Lucid kinda like Secret Sauga or something like that.
We called these Lucid kids Hidden Hamilton because they posted up out of nowhere after nobody hearing anything about them ever except one casuals session RXS went to months ago.
Also they ambush from holes and wear camouflage
