Halo Reach: Always Out Numbered But Never Out Gunned

Are the ablities balanced?

Only going from the beta but they seemed like it. Armor Lock gets extremely annoying in team games though and I wonder if they did anything to it. Didn’t really have a problem with any of the others.

ITS ARRIVED :encore:

limited edition packaging is sexy, going to open it
cue Guile theme

Yeah most people use jetpack or sprint though. The shield ability seems kinda pointless in matchmaking all you gotta do is wait for the person to come out of it the bang…kill em. The hologram one seems handy…

In FFA it was no big deal but play against a team that uses it and you see how annoying it is. Most good team players stick relatively close and the amount of time the shield gave them made it easy for someone else to pop up and kill you. But like I said, I don’t know if they tweaked the time to it or something but I never liked using it myself.

Picked up the Legendary Edition, and WOW, it’s quite mind blowing. The detail on the figures is amazing, and it’s far bigger than I expected also. The only problem? My 360 gave me the RROD today…yeah, TODAY. The day Halo Reach comes out…so I have to sit on this game for who knows how long.

I actually got tricked by the hologram lol, after saying it was lame. I still killed the guy but I could have sworn that was an Elite barreling at me, pretty cool stuff.

I mostly played Invasion when I got my copy, I really like the mode. As an Elite I did a barrel roll under a shotgun blast to get a melee kill, thought that was cool. Just got the standard edition, would have gotten legendary but got hit with money problems this month. The customization now is really a nice treat.

 Man that really sucks!

Ever since Halo 3 I’ve had a huge problem with the control schemes, even during the Beta I did my best to make sure Bungie heard my complaints. Well they didn’t give us the option for customised controls but atleast they listened to my woes. I’m using south paw now, fire button is switched to left trigger so no more misfires or spazzing out under pressure whilst sniping. Both the melee and AA are also assigned to the shoulder buttons

I played reach today at a friend and it is sick!

you allready had southpaw at halo 3…

I play bumper jumper.
with BJ you can jump and leave your thumb at the right stick, and melee while leaving your thumb on the right stick so it gives you an advantage.

but with reach they nerfed melee to much imo.

edit;

In pubs yeah, but I think this changes with team play, when you play 5vs5 (or whatever) the player with shield can try to absorb a lot of the damage and when he’s allmost dead use shield, this way your team has an advantage with health.

Yeah, don’t like what they did to the Active Camo either. Can’t use it to effectively creep up to the ship on Boneyard when you’re an Elite, like you could in the beta.

49 games of TS later and I can safely say that Reach shits on H3, by a long shot.

About an hour and 10 minutes until Arena playlist opens too

Yes, yes they did but equipment and melee where still on the face of the pad. Now they are assigned to the shoulder button which makes a HUGE difference. I used bumper jumper in halo 3 but since jump has been nerfed in Reach it’s not as important to me as the AA’s are. This is especially the case when you have to fly and shoot at the same time, having AA assigned to the shoulder is essential.

ah, I see.

haven’t played MP yet but I see your point.

A buddy let me borrow this today. I played it for a couple hours, just the multiplayer. Its aight. It feels like the other halo games did. Im glad I didnt fall for the hype this time. I would have picked it up and stoped playing it after a few months. Just like I did with the last two halo games. I should play it more to get a better feel of things but I dont think I really need to. Maybe I’ll rent it sometime.

Tomorrow I’ll play a little bit of the campaign. Ive always liked the single player portion of halo.

played Campaign for 6 hours straight then 2 hrs of multiplayer last night! Loving this game. My new control scheme is working wonders, first Snipers game K/D +17

^ ill send you a fr

ok got it

had some classic plasma grenade moments last night: had one gold elite rush me down, it tried to melee me with a karate kick and i backpedalled and let fly with a plasma grenade and stuck him in the nuts. was great. Another time i was sperated from the other spartan on the mission who was trying to take on 2 hunters on his own. and i didn’t realise that a dropship had dropped off a trio of elites, 2 of which were cloaked, so i’m camping leaving the other spartan to chip the hunters and trying to line up my sniper to take out the one elite i’m aware ofwhen i see my screen warble as one of the cloaked ones whiffs a melee attack in front of me! Flanked, felt like jurassic park. i let fly with a plasma and stuck him on the back of his head, he rolled into the other cloaked elite and took out his shields alowing me to headshot him. Was brilliant bit of luck, normally my plasma grenade placement is piss poor.

Overall I’m loving it gameplay is quality, i think the narrative is a bit weak, sometimes i find myself wondering what exactly i’m doing in each mission aside pressing forward and raping everything i come across.the weapons feel good, l;egendary isn’t very hard so far

i dont like the way the AI spartans can’t die, they should be out of action for 5 mins if they die, not that they actually do much but still. i am strugglin with the controls, i keep trying to run up to the enemy and instead of punching them i change grenade type. And when you stick an elite with a grenade or a sword lunge on legendary they don’t die! Thats mean

Armor lock seemed a little bit better then jet, sprint, or camo since not only can you cancel it at any time but more importantly it releases an emp once you release damaging anyone who tries to clock you so an opponent will have to shott and coming out of armor doesn’t leave the user with any disadvantage hope it wasn’t changed in the retail version.

Whats wrong with camo?

Are you talking about the night level with Jun, lol yeh those invisible elites suprised me aswell lol, after dieing I ended up sniping 1 of them as they jumped out of the drop ship. Love the rag doll physics in this game. You are right about the narrative, I do spend some time wondering around then stumbling into the objective.

I have no problem with camo, it hasn’t changed that much from the beta. You just got to move about using crouch and you are fine.
