When the next version of this game comes out I think they should give him a long-range special poke that when it hits, it slows all opponent’s movements ala baiken for 15-20 game seconds. This would add a lot to his drive. Also he needs some kind of tool to keep zoners from just flying around all the time. Something like a screen-high, middle-of-the-screen barrier that he could set up to lock opponents in a half screen position. like an opponent is only allowed to be on one side of the barrier until it vanishes. NOTHING gets through it except hakumen. No projectiles, teleports or counters. These moves would use magatama as well.

He’s one of the six heroes that killed the black beast for crying out loud. He really needs some more additions(even if they aren’t what I posted). The arakune match-up is ridiculous!

Also, he’s low tier because he gets brutally raped by the top 3 (Arakune, Rachel, V-13). He actually doesn’t far too bad vs the rest of the cast.

I think changing his dash from a hop to a run would improve him a lot actually.:sweat:

His dash ins’t bad, i think its the lack of invincibility that kills him, but that’s what parry is design for.

I disagree. 6a is upper body invincible. 6b is lower body invincible. 214b in the air is completely invincible for some frames. His counters off invincibility.

It’s not invincibility holding him back, it’s his inability to get in on certain characters that holds him back (mostly just the top 3). And there’s no way you’re suggesting to give him invincibility frames on his dash, because that would be insane. haha :smiley: I like Hakumen though. Def my fav char.

Arakune should have a meter for his bugs when in curse mode ala zato-one. he’s way too free for what he’s capable of. I think the only thing they need to do to rachael is make it so she can only activate one staff at a time. meaning she can have three out at any given time, but they won’t all go off at the same time.

and at above: i think what would be good to balance it somewhat better is.

  1. tager starts out with full or half magnetism bar.
  2. rachel starts out with empty or half wind bar.
  3. arakune’s bugs decrease curse bar MUCH more, and landing a drive attack will only add 1/4 to the bar.
    4.haku-men starts out with 4 stars (omg 8?! >:O)
    5.nu has a sword bar (that recovers kinda fast), and damage is scaled down JUUUSSSTT a bit. tiny, really

Quick question; how do you get it where Hakumen can repeatedly assault someone with his down C motion while in the air? For instance right now it happens twice, but I can’t continue it like I see in some videos.

EDIT: woah guys. does anyone notice Haku-men’s voice is off. In the english voice his jumping voice is really odd. and in japanese, his astral and mugen seem to sound off. especially mugen. he seems to “scream” mugen. Odd? I"m crazy? It was supposed to? just wondering…

Most of those seemed fairly useless, but one I particularly liked was going into the j.2c combo from 663214b. That one seemed pretty dang useful!

It’s probably useful. But make sure they’ve already bursted. If they already have you’re pretty much guaranteed a kill. *unless you screw up execution! :[
I personally never use mugen. I’m always spitting out random combos and crap :stuck_out_tongue:
I can see it being useful against a Nu that likes to burst early though. (or late?) You’ll get tons of stars from IB’ing stuff

well it doesn’t HAVEE to be Nu… but yeah you’re right. I don’t see Nu doing jump-ins… in fact i don’t even think i’ve SEEN a jump-in Nu attack. What’s it look like? xD

2a, 214b, 236a, 6c does 2278 damage for 3 stars. Didn’t charge 6c.
2a, 214b, 236a, 6c, 632146c does 3975 damage for 7 stars. I didn’t charge 6c or the super.
2a, 214b, 236a, 41236c does 2366 damage for 6 stars.

2a, 2a, 214b, 236a, 6c does 2157 damage for 3 stars.

That’s 121 damage less than just one 2a.

2b, 214b, 236a, 6c does 2715 damage for 3 stars.

That’s a noticeable increase from 2a, but remember 2b has slightly less range than 2a and is slightly slower. Ironically, it being slower means it’s easier to hit confirm.

623a, a, 236a, 6c, 632146c does 4153 damage for 7 stars.

I’m done playing around for now.

2a, 2a, 214b (1), 41236c, 3c does 3275 damage for 5 stars. That’s 244 less damage thatn just one 2a.

2b, 214b (1), 41236c, 3c does 3883 damage for 5 stars. That’s 364 more damage than 2a.

2b, 214b (1), 41236c, c does 3837 damage for 5 stars, but lets you continue the combo like so…

2b, 214b (1), 41236c, c, 236a, c (near corner only probably, I just did this accidentally so I figured I’d record damage just cause) does 4536 damage for 6 stars.

Worth noting, to hit the c after the 41236c requires stricter timing on canceling the first hit of 214b.

2b, 214b (1), 41236c, c, 236a, 6c does 4749 damage for 6 stars. Mmm.

2a, 214b (1), 41236c, c does 3472 damage for 5 stars.
2a, 214b (1), 41236c, c, 236a, 6c does 4447 damage for 6 stars.

Note, the timing for these combos off 41236c have way stricter timing than the earlier combos. I sometimes had them able to tech the 6c, and once the 236a missed after 5c, not to mention 5c won’t hit if you don’t cancel 214b really early.

Next time I might play around with adding 623a, a instead of 236a.

Hrm, I just realized I was in mugen maybe for one of the above combos, but I don’t know which one. I might not have been, I’m not sure. I wasn’t paying attention because I had forgotten mugen increased damage dealt. Check my math if you want! I’m lazy.

2b, 214b (1), 41236c, 623a, a does 3710 damage for 7 stars. I don’t think any combo off of this is going to be worth it damage wise.

2b, 214b (1), 41236c, 5c, 623a, a, jc j.c did 4636 damage for 7 stars.

Keep in mind, for 7 stars you can get 4153 with the much easier 214b, 236a, 6c, 632146c.

Which means doing the easier combo loses you 483 damage. That’s actually kind of interesting because 2b, 214b (1), 41236c, 5c, 623a, a, jc j.c wasn’t hard at all.

Keep in mind supers aren’t burstable, and the longer your combo is the more chance your opponent has to burst. Plus, if you have 7 stars, your opponent probably doesn’t have max life and will definitely burst during this combo, so it might be worth it to keep it short and use the super to guarantee your damage.

what’s the benefit of super jumping?
I can get the falling down C and stuff down pretty well now. But i have no idea what kind of motion to do to do a super jump. sometimes i just do normal jump and it also works. but other times he’s not high enough so super jump is required. Is there a well… easier way to do the super jump? i do 2c, then i have to go bak to 5 and then 2 9? My thumb is so confused ;_;

As you said, 2C529 is how you do the superjump. Ain’t no other way. This ain’t SF4, letting people do whatever they want and still get a DP. And like you’ve already seen, a regular jump will sometimes work, but a superjump will always work.

You might not got as many reps of j.2C with a normal jump, but I don’t know, I always do the superjump.
