The guile definitely isn’t all that great, but the match had a few pretty good moments. The guy one is definitely my favorite, so if you were to watch just one that’d be it. There’s a Cammy one I have that’s pretty good so I might upload that later. Let me know what you think.

Hey got some new videos from me playing on srklive today. Shown are some not so impressive but decent hakan play, and me trying out some new things as well like the backdash to 360+k uncrouchable setup RealPolitix showed me. It’s works like 75% of the time, best 360k setup IMO. So good. Not shown are the like…12 times prawr beat me. (exaggerated, but I did put one of his wins on here.) this one bibson dude who beat me, and some troll fights.

Had some very interesting matches this week.

Another post OS empty crossup into U2 FTW against a very tough Ryu.
Obvious brain fart against Blanka in round 2. Had numerous opportunities to finish the match and decided to get cute and almost paid dearly for it as a result. Won’t happen again.
Had to make some adjustments against Juri’s safe dive kick pressure especially in regards to landing U2. Definitely need to reevaluate this matchup.
Very difficult to find decent Goukens online so my experience with this matchup is kind of limited. Much tougher fight than I had anticipated.

WTF is OS empty crossup? you got lucky the Ryu jumped after you did ultra (you can clearly see this on the input data, you don’t even need the input data to know this is what happened)… and the Ryu didn’t look tough, you where doing unsafe stuff. Like for example wakeup slides after the body press instead of safe jumps.

I beat this guy only like 2/12 (well, after I got warmed up, I beat him 2/8. The first four, I had no chance). Maybe you guys can give me some tips to take this guy out more effectively.

I replied to your comment on Youtube, but I’ll put it here. You had the right idea. This match-up is just plain tough sometimes, but you used a lot of? twd.jabs, which is exactly what you’re supposed to be doing. This is just theory fighter here, but I think after you reset him from dive kick with twd.jab though, maybe follow-up with a s.fierce, twd.strong, or even j.roundhouse when you have enough time (swatted from very high). The match might become a little easier if you make him block after a reset. Also, I’m sure it’s not the best thing, but I really like to use a couple s.jabs into s.strong a lot in match-ups like this. If it hits it’s decent damage, and it’s a great, safe block string. Someone else maybe has good advice for scoring more knockdowns on Rufus? More knockdowns = more wins!

Basically you’re trying to keep Rufus out of your no-no square. Think of the matchup as vs a more mobile Gief.

-Keep about a 2 Hakan-width of distance between you.
-Anti air everything with s.fp or f.lp.
-Keep an eye out for c.fp. When oiled, you can fadnc it into shoulder xx slide or f.rh.

Just a couple of tidbits. Really, unless the Rufus blows his meter, try not to do a whole lot on his wakeup (that isnt safe from ex messiah that is). Play it extremely conservatively. You did a relatively nice job of zoning him in the final round of that vid; now you just have to get to the point where you’re able to do that consistently.

Thanks (to Andy, too). This sounds like good advice. Also, it’s nice to hear that I did well in the final round, because I was a little worried it was just luck. ha ha. I really do have to develop an ability to anticipate that Messiah kick. Watching this vid a few times and those several games along with a few games to let it sink in might help. Very annoying move.

If you’re that worried about messiah kicks, use j.rh style wake up games more so he simply doesn’t do it, or he resets you. Once that happens a couple times, he’ll stop doing it, because you’ll be doing a lot of damage to him for trying.

Also, I haven’t tested this yet, so it’s just theory, but I’m pretty sure there’s a certain distance (max range-ish) you can jump at him with j.rh and he can’t really do much about it. His anti-air isn’t bad, but it is fairly limited and specific if I’m not mistaken. I plan to look into it, but it’ll be nice to know, so when you do make the right spacing happen, you can apply some possibly safer form of pressure.

We’re maybe in the wrong thread now though no?

Really you did pretty good in the end there. Like Andy said, it’s mainly about keeping him out of your bubble. Hakan can do it pretty well, so just get the feel of swatting dive kicks away with St.HP. If he switches up to j.HP you can slide or f.mp.

If you can get slide, take it. The post slide cr.LK > j.HK safe jump/cross up is too good to pass up.

I ran into a solid Hakan player named “red larry” in an endless tonight. Anyone know of him? He’s very good, I think I have 2 or 3 replays of him I’ll try to put up.

No problem Realpolitix, I visit a few character forums from time to time, and it just seems like more Hakan videos are needed. I’m not great at the game, but I want to do my part lol… <.< Just let me know when you have more you want to share.

Thanks. I guess that battle was a pretty good one. I have fun fighting Chun. What I liked was that 'rog fight you had. That guy’s BP over 20,000. Nice dash, f.j.hk, OS oil dive after the oiled hp rocket. That was awesome! Not many Hakans are going to pull that off too often. Also, way to eyeball uncrouchable oil dives. I have trouble with that. I’ve been looking to f.mp 'rogs jump ins, followed by lk uncrouchable oil dive on the air reset. Either way, Hakan v. Balrog is a lot of fun, I think.

Hehe, thanks! I LK Oil Dive OS on most of my post Rocket or Slide jump-ins, but it’s usually to stop the backdash. And for the uncrouchable dives, I actually just imagine the time it takes to do a fwd.MK and try to follow that timing as close as I can. Hakan vs. Balrog is indeed fun, usually because of the challenge it takes to beat him.
