good for any char with a bad reversal
It’s really sick and seems to work as a frametrap and buffs Hakans normal throw game too. It took me a little to get down because to do it that fast and consistently without getting f.lp isn’t easy at first.
What Infitration was doing was pinning down with st.lps, which are completely safe, and then going for the dash cancelled ones, and so what was happening was the opponent was either getting counterhit by crouching teching, or they get a button through and so he just mashed SPD lol.
I don’t think it should be reserved against just Dhalsim…in the corner against certain characters without meter like Rose, Makoto, Fuerte, Gouken, Abel, etc, it’s a pretty godlike way to put pressure on.
Also of course congrats to Infiltration for winning EVO! Of course we didn’t see Hakan, but man his Akuma just outplayed everyone. Respect has to go for arguably having the best Hakan, Gouken, and Akuma around.
I’m off to go beat people up with st.lp
Infiltration is playing on a completely different level than all other players. People are going to be analyzing his gameplay for the next year or so.
Been messing around with the st.jab pressure in some matches, man it’s amazing! Against Vega you can completely lock him down in the corner without meter, also tried it on makoto, fuerte, cody, and meterless rufus.
The awesome thing is it resets people trying to jump, so you can keep going until you feel like going for spd, shit is godlike lol.

Infiltration told me it’s 9-1 for hakan vs sim. I have no clue how to deal vs hakan of that caliber. I lose in every position of the stage.
yea i’ve been trying the [ s.lp > f.dnc~s.lp ] alot recently as well.
And like Drew said it doesnt really limit to a couple characters rather we can abuse it to many characters when they are meterless and or in the corner etc.
But its easy to lose track of your oil sometimes and if you dont convert to reset, then you are left oil-less close up which may cost your advantage situation.
its really fun though
the thing had me thinking is that does the range of spd changes with different strength?
(i thought it doesnt but just had me wondering again thats all.)
funny hakan facts LOL

9-1!? Damn, I would maybe have said 6-4 at best, but that’s an eye opener for sure! Looking at the match though it definitely looks to be a one sided match up, but 9-1? Infiltration is just on another level, it’s crazy. So much confidence in his play, it’s no wonder he thinks Hakan is A tier.
Yeah it’s awesome isn’t it, you almost feel a little mean doing it because some characters just don’t have an answer lol, it’s just infinite pressure as long as you have oil. I know what you mean about the oil running out, but I feel like it’s something a lot of us need to do, keep track of how much oil we have. And if you’re in the corner and run out of oil you can maybe sneak in a cr.mk > EX oil cancel lol
Hmm, I swear LP rocket has a teeny bit more range, because sometimes that thing hits from ranges that you wouldn’t expect! While HP sometimes whiff when you wouldn’t expect it, it can’t be much difference though…
Kimos first match at EVO was on stream, check it out, it was a thriller:

I’d like to know how he got on afterwards…
wagh, I think, don’t know if this helps, but if safety of being oiled is the thing kimo is after, if he does uncrouchable to people you get time for mk oil afterwards compared to not doing it and only lk oil and further wait - up game. Not only do you get a longer duration oil after dive but you have the chance to make people nervous for being put in corner.
That it was. A good El Fuerte is the worst to fight. Anyone ever experiment with oily EX dive against tortilla, by the way? I suspect it might work out well.

I just hated how sloppy Kimo looked in the first few rounds. He clearly didn’t know the matchup. I think if it would have been 3/5 he could have taken it.
Good thing that it wasn’t against IPeru.
It’s interesting because I usually go with u1 in that matchup, but everything seemed to change when he went to U2. It basically forced Kai to go for slides all the time, which is never a good position for Fuerte against Hakan, because he can get EX oil grabbed, SPD, or you can do a neutral jump and airgrab jump attempts or start your own pressure against whiffed throw. Unfortunately there were some poor u2 reads against the slides but I agree with the switchup…
The reason I used ultra 1 is because it’s easy to whiff a move in front of Fuerte on wakeup so when he does the EX flip on wakeup you can punish with Ultra 1, and also because you can CC under tortilla and splash and Ultra 1 too, and I guess you can ultra 1 slide? Hmm i’m definitely thinking about it now though…
I think he was nervous at the start, but I agree with Ultradavid I would have liked to have seen him dictate a bit more, when Hakan gets going against Fuerte the match can be over real quick.

So, what has priority if both are done at the same time: Slide, or Oil Slide?
I played a Feurte last night that I had trained to block my own oil slide. I won the match by sliding short from across the screen and immediately popping U1. Twas satisfying.
Fuerte’s St.RH usually shuts down random slides
Not sure how many people have seen this, it’s a vid from Super but one of my favourites and is kind of hiding on youtube. I loved watching Wildcat when he was forced to rely on fundamentals to win, when I watch him now something’s missing I feel…anyways enjoy

thanks for the support guys. evo was fun but im really bummed that i went 0-2. i am experimenting with other characters at the moment but i will continue to use hakan as well. i managed to talk to some of the capcom people about another possible balance patch because i believe hakan still isn’t strong enough. they gave me a very ambiguous answer so it will probably never happen.

Sorry to hear you went 0-2 at EVO Kimo. The pressure of playing at EVO along with the fact that you are going to play against players who play nothing like what you are used to is quite intense. I cracked under the pressure and lost my first game to a Chun-Li that I should have bear mauled. I don’t think that looking at other characters, or asking for a balance change is the right direction to take. You’ve worked on Hakan so long that it would be disappointing to see you mirate to someone else.
Hakan is stronger and has more options in 2012 than ever before, however he requires intense execution and no mistakes to unleash his power. Having a hit confirm into slide combo and starting with 10 seconds of oil is exactly what I think he needed. The oil dive buffs are a nice bonus, but in all honestly I think it has distracted so many players from fundamentals because they are too excited about uncrouchable dive set ups. I can’t really think of anything more you could ask for in a reasonable manner.
I think that many gamers have gotten this sense of entitlement thanks to DLC patches. If they get the game and don’t like how their character has been treated, they want a balance change instead of trying to lock down the current play style. However, I am sad to say that I am fairly confident that we will not be playing v.2012 at the next EVO.
I think in order to beast with hakan. You need nail down 100% backdash cr.Lk. like bacillus brain is doing. Also do U1 to get huge damage. Blocking good is an issue and people can frame trap, tick throw is another problem for me. I am definitely not good in blocking long term so when I feel opponent is going to throw me. Mashing U1 makes them piss off. So for the next round, they tend to neutral jump a lot. You can also fake mashing to make them jump for dives or air grabs.
