Hacking the ST rom

Alright, I’ve got the lifebar working. Now, I’m working on a little project, and I need to have input sent to MAME-RR trough lua. For that, I’m using the joypad.set() function in lua in MAME-RR, but it doesnt seem to be working (only Service Mode button works, I cant get anything else working)…does anyone know if joypad.set() in mame-rr is bugged?

Any chance this training mode could be ported to the ST conversion that works without a daughterboard? It’s based off the avalanche roms but the patches don’t work.

You can do this in modern versions of Mame, so you don’t necessarily need Mame-RR. I used Groovymame + Lua to create this rudimentary dummy:

Any way to hack ssf2 (not st) to support turbo speeds? I’ve always thought that it deserves more attention but that horrible play speed sucks.

hello,
I’ve been following this topic for a long time and I registered just to ask.I’ve seen some pretty amazing stuff in here and I’d like some help to hack the sf2/ssf2t rom.I know there isn’t much documentation about it at the moment, the best I’ve seen so far is the SF punishement and sheng long hack.
what I’d like so far is a background palette modifier.because to me the best version of the stages colois were the original ww,and capcom never made a free selection about it,not in hsf,not even in usf.
to push my request a little further,I’d like some fireball/sound effect/pallette modifiers.as for example, ryu would throw yoga fires, ken would throw yellow hadokens (sf1),guile could throw green tiger shots and wathever…
it must be possible in the phoenix M5 rom.just need some address pointers and documentation…
I had a lot of creativity with mugen, but it’s just cheap and limited overall.

nothing beats an authentic rom hack!

I’m not sure if there’s been a regression in the radare2 cps2 decryption method, but it gives me a different result to xcopy (file size is different).
