Yeah, it’s tournament standard. It’s also been verified by people in the game industry that the PS3 has an inherent 2 frame delay, and even though both players are equally at a “disadvantage of 2 frames, or 0.03s” people have an issue with it. However, the tests to the industry used to prove this was the 2 frame delay it takes for the system to register a button press at the XMB dashboard. As far as I have seen, there has been no evidence debunking this claim inside a game title. Lastly, I heard through the grapevine (so take it with a grain of salt) that the Japanese players were upset with the PS3 use at eVo, and this claimed delay issue is the reason they all use the Xbox 360 for their gatherings/streams.

In support of the system, it is just easier to deal with in tournament running as it offers a wide variety of controller/joystick options and is easier to manage the assigned controllers with the profile system - unlike the Xbox 360.

and lets face it… the ps3 doesnt have a tendency to crash for over heating like the xbox i believe we tried running tournaments with the xbox one year and had problems with it… not saying the ps3 doesnt die but it is more reliable in that regard

Eh, the “overheating” issues have really died down (cooled down?), especially with the new systems. But yeah, bridges were burned there.

The only games that use the 360 in tournament play are those that require it, or those that use the VGA adapter to work on say… an arcade cabinet or something.
