I’ve got a buddy that collects stuff like that. He has the money to buy nice guitars, but he prefers these pawn shop acoustics and electrics and some of them are actually pretty good.
I’ve played gigs with it and it did what it was supposed to, and you can find them less than $300 a lot of the time. Decent guitar for that price
That’s one thing I found when I worked at a music store is that you can get a pretty good guitar for around $3-400. It might not be the prettiest thing out there and it won’t play as well as one 2-3x the price, but it’ll play pretty well and depending on the brand, it’ll be really well made.
I worked at this guitar warehouse for a few months before my production business went full time, and Yamaha used to pay us to destroy any B-stock or damaged instruments that got out there. Those things could take an absolute beating. We’d be smashing them on a cement floor and you’d have to do it several times before the thing was what I would consider “broken.”
This is absolutely insane! I’ve only every heard good things about Yamaha. Josh Homme and the Eagles of Death Metal guys used to all play AES 1500s and they’ve raved about them in interviews.
Why not just sell it at a reduced price or have giveaways? That would do more to boost their brand. weird
A buddy of mine let me borrow his JHS 73 Ram’s Head. It’s a boutique pedal that mimics the circuitry on vintage Big Muff Pi, what Gilmour used on Animals and The Wall.
Those vintage Big Muffs are tough to find these days, and even the one he lent me was a limited run so they’re hard to track down, too.
There’s another version of the 73 Rams Head made by Vick Audio that seems to review well. I’d like to try it out if I can find anyone who had one in my town.
