Aww, that wasn’t directed towards me, was it? I know of my cities scene. I have a feeling they’ll be adding AC to the list of games to play.
Why can’t games without net-play be a mainstream fg anymore? were all so lazyo_O…Quite ecstatic for this though, considering it’s the only game I really play.
Got people back in my town wanting to play again.
We ever people looking up places to find/buy PS2s and getting themselves a copy of GGAC.
Luckily I still got my copy, and some of these guys actually went out and bought a PS2.
Still got my old PS2 stick too
I WAS WAITING FOR THIS DAY!! AND IT CAME!!!
Well a lot of people just can’t go to or make their scenes period.
Like I live in Farmington Hills Michigan, we got Marvin’s Marvelous Mechanical Museum, but they pretty much destroyed the hardcore group going there.
Beatmania III, Sunset Riders, Fully Loaded Ultracade, and Street Fighter III:TS all blown up in a month for ticket games.
While the Tekken scene is up in Oakland a hour away. The general scene is in Lansing that’s a hour and ten minutes away.
And atm, Detroit doesn’t have an arcade or public scene period. Even Fuddruckers and such pretty much moved 30 minutes away.
So for me, who’s current residence needs 5 minutes to walk to the other street and only close comp is 6 year olds or 60 year olds, is pretty much fucked.
Steals parents credit card
Luckily when I started playing guilty gear there was still a scene here in NY and when I started playing everyone in the scene taught me not only guilty gear from the ground up, but fg’s in general. I don’t know what kind of social experiences in the fgc you’ve had but I’m sorry if they have been bad. It’s just common logic that as long as you don’t act like a prick, you won’t be treated like one, for example; if your bad at a game, don’t talk trash, because if you do, no one will want to help you get better. The only trash talk during matches I ever really hear is between friends, but online it’s a whole different story because you’re not face to face with your opponent so people get away with a lot of stupid things. In real life no one is going to say something like; “ur such a noob all u do is thro fireballs”, because in “real life” most people try to avoid confrontation due to the subsequent consequences, unlike online where you can say just about anything and get away with it. I do agree that public places and online accessibility are an integral part to keep the fgc strong, but at least trying to make friends and not having a “fuck that” attitude(and not being lazy) will make it even stronger. Still, I am very happy for this announcement.
The meaning of mainstream has changed. Having a few dozen hardcore people at your local arcade or event is no longer considered mainstream.
A game needs to have a global reach and fanbase to be considered mainstream… and in gaming terms, even SF4 is barely there.
Sweet! I’m already practicing my combos and frcs. Online, fear my O-sol, Sol, Jam, and my other subs.
I’m not insinuating that you’re bad at games or mean, just that it sounds like you don’t have a lot of experience with social scenes or they’ve all just been bad experiences for you (please correct me if I’m wrong). I was giving examples of trash talk ect., not to insinuate that you yourself partake is such acts, but to explain that most of the time, problems like those don’t arise very often if at all. I’m not saying you are obligated to be friends with someone because they share the same hobby with you, but at events as long as you keep an open mind and are social-able you “can” make friends if you’d like to, it just sounds like you don’t want to be friends with anyone in the fgc because your to afraid we all steal and I don’t know what kind of scene you have, but here in NY there’s no “exclusive cliques” especially based on personality(within the fgc). You just make friends, those friends have friends, ect…Also I never said you had to meet at someone’s house with people you don’t know…Just to reiterate a couple of ideas; first off you’d obviously not be friends with someone you dislike, but a common interest is what usually causes friendships and just because one guy who plays your game is a douche, doesn’t me everyone else is. It seems you just don’t like socializing. Stealing is a relative problem but it does not happen very often if at all due to the fact that most players know each other, the only people that steal are the sketchy guys who show up very seldom and aren’t really friends with anyone else there.
What it sounds like, is you don’t want to make friends with anyone in the fgc is because you’re afraid we all might be douchebags with kleptomania…please don’t take this critically, I’m just trying to give a more open minded perspective and if you ever happen to be in NY you should stop by next level.
btw, do you even have a public place to gather? or you just never have which is why you have no social fgc scene?
That’s just how you start small communities, find a public place like a mall, bar, or w/e and make it happen. Nothing is going to happen if everyone is just so stuck to online that everyone is to lazy to do anything.
And that is how you kill an hour of your time.
lol, when this goes online on psn & live like 1 million peeps are gonna get utterly destroyed by 10 people.
seriously.
wait & see.
there will be pot monsters, tavern beasts, and arcade mages lurkin’ those rooms!
Squared, i’ll see you and the rest of the fellas at saturday’s tourney!!!
hype!
Because in the first place it’s a big struggle for a non-Capcom, non-Namco game to be considered “mainstream”?
i foresee 1 million people getting online for the initial 2-3 weeks, then dropping the game once those really great players start dusting everyone, then people will realize how execution heavy the game is, & how much of a steep learning curve there is…and the huge divide between a good player and a great player… and how if you wanna win consistently against people you’ll have to dedicate your entire life to this one single game for countless hours…and quit GG immediately, lol.
i’m callin it.
This news made my week, honest and truly it did. I fucking love Guilty. Crying shame its taken this long to come to 360/PS3, but fuck it! Better late than never.
Gimmie a release date Arc, so I can throw multiple dollars at you.
Just wondering if this will be a straight-up arcade release or will it (hopefully) have additional features from the previous console version (like Story mode, Mission mode, 3-on-3 Team Battle)
Either way, with this release having netplay I can get some actual fighting experience instead of just using training mode or watching videos
Calling it right now…gonna be seeing a lot of Sol and Ky online, lol
so basically its gonna be like when MvC2 hit PSN and everyone was getting hit by their first Iron Man infinite and giving up
More likely Testament, Slayer, Sol, Ky.
Probably lots of scrub Sol and Ky, I expect they’ll get bodied by the Eddies and Testaments that have stuck with the game
I fully expect this happen. A bunch of people won’t put in the effort at all. People rage quit all the time. Their poorly timed Bursts won’t save them either. I forsee rage quits when scrubs are being bounced off the wall with Sidewinder loops.
I’ve been on GG since PSone and haven’t dropped it, so I’m fully expecting a ton of free matches where I troll new players with Potemkin gatling loops.
In saying that, I’m probably going to pick up a new character once the hype builds up for this, I’m thinking Baiken, she’s always been pretty solid, only a couple of bad match ups.
Is Kliff as annoying as he is in the first GG? D:
Also, do GG combos convert over to this version?
