Chipp’s Oki was how he got around having the lowest health in the game. You just don’t see Chipp’s winning matches if they can’t successfully get the opponent in the corner, he can only play neutral for so long before his lack of health catches up with him. I don’t see him performing well without that.

If you’re talking about Evo Japan, Sharon used Millia didn’t he? I missed his matches, but I didn’t think he used her in tournament. Regardless, Sharon is one of the best guilty gear players in the world, it’s like saying pot isn’t bad because FAB does well.

It was wayy too strong though, especially combined with his other extremely strong neutral/defensive tools and his high corner damage (on a character that historically had very low damage; that was def not the case for Xrd Chipp). Once he got you into the corner (which tbh, wasn’t that hard for him to do considering teleport yrc, gamma yrc, the massive return he gets off various CHs and his generally amazing ability to win scrambles) you were going to die. He had like a 4 layer mixup, and even if you blocked it he was still right where he wanted to be and you were still forced to hold a hit/throw mixup or get pressured/whiff punished. Plus he had the ability to kill guts extremely well with his multi hit combos + super with absurdly high minimum damage. I honestly think he will be fine. He still has teleport yrc, gamma yrc, and kunai super shenanigans for the corner. Something had to give with him, because, like I said, his corner loop was just slightly less retarded than the UB loops from previous versions.

I also don’t understand the hate for Slash really. It was not only one of the best GG games, it’s one of the best fighters. It was such a fundamentals game that there were basically two tiers: those with a DP and those without lol
