Confille doesn’t mean anything in French or nothing that makes sense. You may see it as a made up word of “con” (idiot - literally “pussy”) and “fille” (girl) but it wouldn’t be very nice. Some sites report “Confire” which means “to comfit” but could also be an alteration of “gunfire”.
Interesting enough, there’s a handmade shop in Japan called “le confille”, so one should try to see where they took the word from.
In general they don’t use many French words in the game. AFAIK there are only three moves with French names: Déjà Vu (but the word is in nearly every language now), Génoise (a cake/biscuit) and Calvados (both a French district and the name of a spirit drink stemming from it). There’s also “éclair” (in Ky’s theme Magnolia Eclair) which is a classic pastry, but the most likely meaning is “lightning”. So overall they seem to like French food and drinks.
At least they actually try to use German words that make sense. Well, maybe not “engraved dignity” or whatever “wachen Zweig” is supposed to mean, but “sharp orb”, “cruel impulse”, “iron storm”, “cold drift” or “steel whirl” are very fitting.
There’s a feeling though they just use google translate to create German names that just sound cool because nobody in Japan understands what they mean.
Yeah the buttons thing was just a joke/jab at Chipp players. He is one of those characters that you just need to fight a lot before you can really understand what is going on. However, even when you do understand what is going on, he is still extremely hard to catch.

Someone needs a safe space?
This is SRK… You’ve been here two years and haven’t realized this shit?
Go get triggered. O_o
As for Chipp…
Umm… He’s weird because logical breakdowns don’t work. I get the most mileage by mashing Venom’s 2H. In blockstrings, it beats all his overhead options except teleport high, so once you train them to teleport high, YRC the whiffed 2H, eat their out-of-teleport input and air throw them.
This doesn’t work against Chipp players that are more adept with their character than relying on speed alone to overwhelm people.
Also, fuck Bears… Dude’s Chipp is so fucking strong.

I’ve watched some of Bears games because I tried to understand Chipp, but right now it’s basically like when I watched SF pros when I started SF, it helps me a little bit with the flow of the game (and it helps me a lot if I watch Haaken because I can steal stuff) but I am at the point where I loose to stuff most good players don’t even do because that’s probably just gimmicks and bullshit you do to noobs.

If you’re looking for Americans that are on a more modest level, try finding matches of Sarvets and Uchiha, and maybe Boschio but they’re not going to be easy to find
Kedako has started streaming on Twitch. He said that, contrary to what some people said, May can’t get an air knockdown from Ensenga midscreen (this disproves the rumor that ensenga still knocks down, but sends them full screen). He also said that Rev2 May feels much less interesting than Rev1 May, a theme which imo holds true for most characters. These changes are honestly quite depressing.

Machaboo playing Ky again <3
You mostly don’t react to Chipp. He’s just too fast and has too many options. You generally have to pre-empt his stuff.
I think people are overexaggerating how bad Rev changes are, and are forgetting that it’s just a loketest

So, how was Final Round XX?
I think people are using the “it’s only a loke test” as an excuse. It’s true that in the past they have done a few changes during a loke test that didn’t ever go live, but I can’t ever remember something of this magnitude being tested, let alone tested and then reversed. I think you’re kidding yourself if you think most of these changes are going to be rolled back.
Regarding overreactions, I disagree again. Numerous top players (Dogura, Kedako, etc) have expressed that they feel like they are just making changes for the hell of it; just to be able to say “look, this is basically a new game”. The vast majority of the cast is less fun/interesting now. Furthermore, many of the changes don’t make sense; strong but not top tier characters like May and Sol get bodied. Also, top tier character in need of a slight adjustment (Bedman) gets completely wrecked, etc. It’s just hard to see what their goal is. It’s really a shame

I’ve heard that Rev2’s balance is no longer being directed by Pachi. I don’t know if those claims are true, though I do recall a publication (forget which) citing someone who was definitely not Pachi as game director. Having a different captain at the helm would explain why the changes seem to be so drastic, and if that is the case, I have to agree that “it’s just a loketest” is really not valid here. Yes, some changes can and will be rolled back, but this new balancing philosophy is here to stay. So, if your character got massive changes, I think we can count on those making it in. A new game director isn’t making these changes just to play around; they’re making these changes because they have their own vision for what these characters should and should not be doing.

So I’ve figured out why I’m worse at this game than even other 2d fighters specifically. I can’t do air shit. I can handle ground strings, even if long combos and weird roman cancels aren’t my forte. But as soon as I have to start jumping and air dashing I’m fucked. Yes, this also includes Dust homing jumps.

That’s easily solved by practice. Took me some time to adjust to as well, since air combos weren’t really a thing in games I had previously played.
Start with generic air combo strings which is something like [opener - normal - normal - jump cancel - normal - normal - ender]. Generic 5D8-combos are generally the same, they just add on 2 more heavy normals before the generic strings. Expand from there once you’re comfortable with that (given that your character even has more advanced air combos than that).
The tournament as a whole was run better. I managed to make it to losers semis of my pool so I’m kinda happy.
Everything else sucked tho. Not a lot of casuals setups/no BYOC, and the two main hotels were really spread apart and made afterhours casuals impossible. Xrd top 8 being pushed to funkyp’s stream also sucked, especially since he wasn’t supposed to be streaming that day.
But FR staff tried. Larry came over on Sunday and personally apologized. I hope next year does better.

On the other hand, @zenzen made top 8.
That’s interesting. I hadn’t heard that before, but it kind of makes sense. However, the fact that Faust got buffed into SS tier makes me think Pachi is still involved, he’s just getting his Sirlin on. I’ll say again, the reason imo for all these retarded ideas is so they can market the game with “completely new moves/balance”. The hilarious thing is, some characters didn’t even get the promised new move and only lost moves.

Do you have any reference to where ArcSys explicitly said “one new move for everyone”? Because to be totally honest I don’t recall them every making that specific statement. At one point they said “new moves” and at another time they said only a few characters would get drastic changes. Obviously that is not what is happening either, but the point is, I don’t think ArcSys ever made that specific promise.
As far as the changes go: this discussion has pretty much been done to death at this point. I don’t like them. A lot of people don’t like them. There’s not really anything else to say about them until either we get another loketest or the game goes live, and that’s the way it always should have been really. Not really much to say until we’ve tried the changes out. Of course, there are some changes that are so blatantly good or bad that you can get either an ecstatic or sinking feeling for them immediately, but I think on average a lot of characters are in a sort of gray area where the nuances still need to be worked out, and that’s not going to happen for another two months.
