not talking about reacting to high-low, that’s definitely trouble. just that personally, it’s not too hard to recognize when a setup is DP-safe. DPable, fuzzyable becasuse the ball isn’t actually meaty, backdashable, all that stuff. like for example, right here. ball goes out maybe far enough to barely scrape ky, but it’s easily backdashable. you can backdash through deeper balls too, but you have to be careful for raven catching your backdash. although getting hit by say one 2H then air teching out is better than getting high-lowed.

i could also just be guessing right a lot, but i doubt it’s that? just need to play better ravens and see how they do things before i can be definitive about what i say and think about him, so take anything i say about him w/ a grain of salt

DAT PERFECT KO

Oh, no, that I definitely agree with. It’s not all that difficult to recognize if the setup isn’t “real” with him.

Is this now the SFV refugee thread?

Not really?

Although if you wanna play Xrd rather than SFV, I certainly don’t blame you.

Will shelter you with warm milk, cookies and a full size Dizzy pillow:

We r/Kappa now

Voting for the GodsGarden tournament has started (the 2 players with the most votes will get their travel cost paid for and automatically qualify, the rest will play for a spot). You can vote everyday, 5 times per day and you can also give someone a “negative vote” which as far as I can tell takes a vote from them. I’ll be casting for Daru since he is playing my character and he isn’t from Jp. Anyway, here is the link:

Do you know when the voting ends?

I’m actually not sure

Daru gets 3 votes and FAB 2 from me.

So, I got this a bit ago and have been playing it when I can (which sadly isn’t as often as I’d like since I work evenings). Got my first taste of fighting Haehyun tonight and I was like “wtf is this character?”. It’s weird because the character seems to be so simple with just either 1 fireball with 2 levels or 2 different fireballs and damaging normals, and somehow she just seems so overwhelming. And with it being like 2/3 your health is gone from a 4 hit combo, it’s like…yikes.

Now, granted since I’ve been playing Jack-O, I may not have much of a right to speak of potential bullshit, but damn…I don’t really know what I should be doing.

So the topic of “worst character” came up maybe a page back or so. Obviously it’s a bit early to say something like “x is the worst character” considering the recent rebalance. However, a character that nobody seems to be mentioning as bad (and for whatever reason, people vehemently oppose this view) is Dizzy. It is obviously really early and it’s entirely possible she just hasn’t be “unlocked” yet, but atm it seems to me like she really doesn’t have much going for her. Her setups seem really fake and chicken blocking/jumping out of her oki is just way too easy. She has decent damage and if she can get the knockdown she can get a decent zone going, but something seems to be missing. It’s almost like she is missing an end game (or maybe people are approaching her in the wrong way). I compared her to Ram before because they both seemed to have suspect neutral, but with Ram if she can get you into the corner it’s pretty much lights out, with Dizzy…not so much. Thoughts?

Funny you should bring that up; earlier today tweets by Kazuki and Daiji were going around where Kazuki basically said Dizzy is worse off in this game than she was in Slash, where she was either bottom or really close to it. He said that she lacks a “weapon.” Something where the player says, “if I can land this, I win.” Kazuki feels like with Dizzy right now he’s basically losing no matter how he approaches a situation. Daiji then added that at least with Ram, you can potentially win off a single Dauro because her oki is that good. But with Dizzy, the opponent just “bounces back.”

They also mentioned her having problems working within the system mechanics, which probably to an extent references the fact that she can have some trouble dealing with blitz. She obviously uses YRC really well but she’s almost dependent on it. This kinda makes sense. Again, really too early to say, but right now it just seems like most of the tools they gave her were made a bit weaker than they should have been with the expectation that she could just YRC them to invalidate those shortcomings and win. That doesn’t seem to be how it’s playing out just yet so I’m interested in seeing where she goes from here.

I don’t think that assessment is wrong tbh, it really feels like she lacks an endgame to me (full disclosure: I’m by no means a master of realizing a new character’s full potential). Blitz absolutely blows her up; IB, air throw, and, as mentioned before, chicken blocking all seem to be really effective against her as well. It is definitely too early to say for sure, but I think she at least warrants a discussion. For some reason on the Discords if you even mention Dizzy being weak you get sentenced to an auto-da-fe.

I think the Discord thing is just a result of that one dude in the Dizzy Discord (I believe his name was Carthage) pretty much using the server as a live blog to complain about how bad the character was. He ended up being kicked from the server. It’s okay to voice your opinion of the character, whatever it may be, but when you’re just shitting on them constantly and lamenting how much you’re struggling with them, you’re no longer contributing to the conversation for its intended purpose: the growth and development of the character and those who play her. At that point you’re just creating and encouraging a culture of excessive negativity, so it’s really no surprise that those guys are more sensitive to “Dizzy is bad” talk now.

As for Dizzy herself, I’m not really qualified to talk about what she has and doesn’t have in great depth because my experience with the character is limited to some training mode sessions and watching Twitter clips. Her more “legit” setups look to take some execution, so I wouldn’t expect to see Dizzy players busting those out consistently just yet. Overall, most of the people playing her seem to agree that she’s very technical. There’s usually loads of potential in characters like that, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see her acquire that “weapon” Kazuki is talking about, but right now, it’s not looking too pretty. Only time will tell.

Sounds like the people crying about SFV Juri. Put some elbow grease into the character for a couple months first.

Dizzy NEEDS a hard knockdown air combo-ender (or two).

Dizzy’s projectiles need better and more unique properties. like they should play on the fire and ice aspect more in a sort of status effect way. They also need better block-stun. Ice could weaken the opponent’s defense (also slower burst refill) and fire could weaken their offense (also eats away tension) as an example. Right now, they just hit with flashy effects for nothing. Allow more control over where the bubble projectile travels and the guard-point (defensive) fish should be more deceptive and cause immediate stagger to help against blitz shield and dead angle attacks.

Dizzy’s mirror Overdrive needs to make up it’s mind what it wants to be. I’ve seen it trade far too many times with non-projectile attacks to be wasting half your tension on. Her ground wave Overdrive needs to be how it was before: Instant. If you’re in front of her and not blocking, you’re getting hit. Wish the casket Overdrive also made a return.

I know i’ll get flames for this, but the circus has trained me for this.
