Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- one of life's gilty pleasures

That feeling when you find yourself locked into an epic clash with Potemkin’s ass.

The hype kinda subsided. Its weird I was so ready for this game. Maybe console with additional character announcement will hype me back up.

Oh look Danger Time is still a dumb mechanic

I thought the more Xrd developped the more interesting it would get to me but I’;m not feeling it. At least I still got +R

They also said it would be a very rare occurrence.

Ok.

You would be surprised how many small clashes you can see happen without any Danger Time occurring. That said, I also dislike the mechanic, though I’m interest in seeing an optimized combo, as well as a ridiculously impractical situation.

Waiting for a console release here too. Arcades are populated by total monsters and very few noobs, training time is too short for the cost… can’t wait for the full Arcsys “training, challenge etc” modes.

Mind Games. Mind. Games.

Machaboo’s tier list.

I’m shocked that Potemkin is that low. He has looked pretty stout against this cast…hmm

He’s lost a lot of things at the moment. He can still win, but he definitely isn’t AC Potemkin. There are probably some things still to be found to make him stronger, IIRC at least on some characters, j.S hits low enough that it can hit crouching characters if he does at instantly from a jump, but I don’t see that used too often. Or I’m blind and it’s used more often than I think.

Well, you have to consider that he went down mostly because Machaboo inserted a separate tier for Venom. That’s probably just his way of saying that “Venom is worse than I-No, Slayer and Ram, but not as bad as Pot.”

EDIT: Also, the number of tier levels isn’t necessarily indicative of the “spread”, the distance between top and bottom. Seeing as this is GG, the spread most likely isn’t as wide as a five level spread in something like SF.

So the Eddie player who was angry that he wasn’t going to be top tier, can now rest easy. S tier in Arcadia and according to Machaboo. Not surprised.

Ramlethal and Bedman are so new, so I don’t think people know where to put them yet. So they are just thrown in the middle for now.

He’s a grappler with no Oki, based off f hsi worth incarnation, with even less options than he had back then. The character ios so butt even FAB is thinking of dropping him.

People considering Pot low is not surprising. I remember seeing FAB play Pot in AC. Dude was damn impressive. And I hate HATE HATE Potemkin and I couldn’t disrespect how good he played. In Xrd? Ha. Dude influences NO FEAR.

Only big things that I see he lost that are worth a bunch is Heat Knuckle drop down, cr.S reel-in, and the overhead. What he gained is a better normal throw that puts the opponent right beside him, a shoulder tackle move that needs to be tested on block more and in juggle combos, but it can combo into Flick and Giganter into Gigantic Bullet or cancel into Mega Fist YRC and j.HS air throw OS or empty into low/throw/command throw. His ICPM allows him to convert into a knockdown air combo that puts the opponent right beside him, but +R Potemkin could already do that with the spike down with j.S into ground combo into Heat Knuckle.

I think Potemkin still has juice and there’s other unexplored stuff with him, but he’s not immediately dirty or scary as other characters could be, not as easy to win with in a cast filled with strong characters. I like the potential of his moveset and an “inevitable” patch should make him better. Just giving him some of his +R stuff and making that new explosion move useful as a reversal/anti-air/power-up could easily elevate him back again.

So far, I’m not that concerned. My main Venom is put down so low but I really don’t think he should be put there and players aren’t fully utilizing his moveset or the new YRC mechanics with him. I bet players didn’t think much of Chipp until he started to get fleshed out by players like Samitto and started using YRC creatively.

I think with Potemkin, players could gatling and hitconfirm then make their way back in with new 6K then tick into throw/command throw depending on the frame advantage of this move, or cancel 6K into Mega Fist YRC or Hammerfall feints/YRC.

Oh well, for my intents and purposes I won’t be playing/can’t play this version of the game. Arcsys is gonna put out console Xrd later this year most probably with more characters and with balance adjustments and the minute particulars would have changed by then.

Venom is underrated for sure. His AAing is better than +R but his mechanics, ball setups etc. changed a lot so controlling space with needs to be explored all over again.

Indeed, CGWorld’s only strictly interested in practical production details, stuff like release dates is irrelevant to them since the arcade version’s already out

lookin good there, Sol! A polycount forum member scanned the article (of course it’s all in japanese): http://www.polycount.com/forum/showpost.php?p=2063637&postcount=185

I think the biggest problem for Venom at this moment are matchups. Most problematic being Chipp, who is always bad for Venom, and is especially buff in this game.

So the article does confirm alot of things that we were guessing. Like how there’s not tweening/interpolation between each frame of animation, etc.

I know there was that arcade update that made it so bursts were throwable again, but I still hadn’t seen it (since it pretty much does less damage than blocking it and punishing it, but its still cool to see!), but I finally found video of it!

If I-no’s air throw still allowed a combo after it, I’m sure I would have seen it before though.
