Guile: Q&A thread - Ask simple questions here instead of making a new thread PLEASE!

I thought I saw Yoshio do the backdash->sonic boom too. But now I think it was just walk back -> sonic boom. Guile’s walkback looks like a bunch of small hops for some stupid reason, so it can be misleading.

Hi guys I just had a couple of really basic questions, since I just picked up Guile:

  • Whats the difference (pros and cons) between jumping hp or using jumping hk ?
  • Whats the difference between starting a link with cr.lk, cr.lp, cr.mp / or cr.lp, cr.lp, cr.mp?

-cr.lk must be blocked low; cr.lp can be blocked from stand or crouch.

I remember reading something in a (translated) interview with the game’s producers about Guile getting some kind of buff in terms of combo damage scaling compared to the rest of the cast in Super. Since the game dropped last month I don’t think I’ve seen any mention of it on the forum, but I’m not the only one who remembers this coming up, right?

Question: I’ve seen back since the Super SFIV and I see a demonstration with Guile goes from moving backwards to dashing forward straight to his Ultra II. Another when somehow, a Guile does flashkick into Ultra I. My memory is fuzzy on the latter situation, but HOW do you perform the former?

Charge back, then F F B F + PPP. There’s a particular timing to it (you need to hit PPP as the dash ends).

Flash Kick into U1 works when you either hit someone at the very top of their jump arc or possibly a trade in the corner or something similar :slight_smile:
