Well I meant to do charge db, cr.hk (during first hit of the cr.hk), d, d/f,d/b,u/f+ kkk. I can cancel into super after the first hit of the cr.hk, but never ultra for some reason.
Again this is just something to try in training mode and I kept wondering why I couldn’t get it to work.
Retardstrong, Ultras are never cancelable in ST4, as far as I know. Supers can cancel, but Ultras can’t. Ultras CAN link though, but Guiles only true link for the Ultra is off of the Super. Even then, (I find in training mode), you have to cancel something into the Super (for the Ultra to be link-able), and it can’t be a flashkick most times.
Slinkun, I don’t know what you’re trying to tell me… I’m just asking how its possible to throw out the Ultra/Super off a grab whiff. There was a video of a Guile throwing it out after a cr. Fierce, and PHB was asking why he couldn’t do it the same way with a grab whiff.
Besides that, he was saying he WAS doing it with the Super. I don’t understand how you can charge long enough to unleash a Super after a whiffed grab. (The video he linked shows a Ken unleashing his Ultra after a whiffed grab. But Guile has to charge :db:, and therefore can’t initiate throw.)
Anyways, I agree on the confirming bit. I don’t like to throw out random Ultras.
Umm…just to note, Dan’s Ultra is the only one that is actually cancellable in the entire game.
You can actually pull off one of Dan’s supers (where he shows off and struts his stuff) and cancel that into his Ultra. And yes, it does count as one complete combo.

(His Ultra Super Taunt Combo). Does some seriously massive damage too.
i remember watching a video, i believe by gilley (not sure tho), on an alternate way to do guiles ultra. I cant seem to find video again in threads, but would anyone know of alternate ways to pull off?..I believe it incorporated a tiger knee motion. Thanks.
Dan’s normal Super (the one where he actually attacks) doesn’t cancel into his Ultra.
Dan’s Super Taunt as well as his Ultra has special properties that no other character’s Super/Ultra has:
-Dan’s Super Taunt actually freezes time. Literally. What this means is that while the opponent is stuck in that little frame, Dan has .5 seconds to buffer in the Ultra. Just so long as Dan doesn’t get off his knee, you can pull the Ultra off.
-Dan’s Ultra also freezes time but has a more stricter or shorter window. When Guile or any character pulls their Ultra, the background goes dark for .5 second. That 1 second actually creates a window for Dan’s Ultra to override and snuff out anything that comes in Dan’s way.
Whenever I get out of this E3 crunch time, I’m gonna try to make some more videos of random things, like Airthrows/Reversals part 2, how to dash > ultra, and another one showing just how horrible Guile’s FK is.
I know you can dash foward into an ultra. But could I also back dash intio an ultra as well. I don’t actually have the game, so I really can’t test this.
could I also do a FADC into an ultra as well, or FADC backdash into an ultra? Thanks, I appreciate it.
Also what are some good ticks for Guile besides the obvious j.lk. Is cr.lk, cr.lp good ticks as well?
I’m really trying to conjure up some mixups for Guile. I can only try this out at tournaments, since I don’t own the game. But I would like know what is and isn’t possible.
I know for a fact that Guile can FADC into Ultra… I consider it much easier than normally dashing into Ultra, and is the only way I pull it off with much consistency.
About backdashing into Ultra, I don’t think its possible… I think the game specifically needs a :db: charge to initiate the Ultra, whereas the :df: can be anything between :uf:, :r:, and :df:. (Therefore, you can dash with :r:)
I could be wrong about the backdashing, but I haven’t been able to pull it off ever…
I’m finding actually if I do it more as an impulse/reaction it lands rather then when I’m trying to do it. It’s weird…
I was a blanka player that was doing rather well. I got sick of him though for some odd reason. So I switched to Dan cause his shenanigans are awesome and it makes for a fun game. But, not I’m realizing that Guile is a badass and I like how he plays. Tons of options that allow you to dictate the match.
