Guile in Super Street Fighter IV (arcade version)

sigh what a disappointment. Guile, Capcom, I am disappoint.

I suppose I’ll still stick with Guile but I have a hardon for Makoto so she’ll be seeing far more action and potentially becoming a new main. I’m tired of working uphill for victories (then again, I may be switching to mak so wtf?) with so much lame-ness involved. Bison is still fun but with his nerfs and all, I’ll still use him but just not as much. I wish they’ed announce more characters so I can see who else might tickle my fancy. I am not even slightly interested in Shin/Oni-Akuma and Evil Ryu. Yun is too popular so I might try out Yang instead. Overall, I’m just board with the game atm.

They need to play with the balance just a bit more before they make it available as DLC.

If they don’t want Guile to sit on booms, i don’t understand why they don’t make his normals more suitable for offense? More stun on his crossup, more frame advantage on his jabs? Is that not reasonable?

Has anyone used Ultra 1 in AE yet? Any changes of note? Vortex? autocombo? Anything?

the damage on flash kick and back fist are both about 100 now, right?

@warahk (because you play tatsu) or anyone who’s played a.e, is vega as improved as it seems? cr.mk looks godly…not to mention the damage of an ex roll into cr.mp x inzua drop.

yeah vega is pretty freakin buff right now. the new c.mk is amazing. and yes, ex roll > c.mp xx ex izuna is ridiculous damage >_<.

vega’s buffest combo in AE is jump fierce > s.fierce xx ex roll > c.mp xx ex izuna.
if the damages on ex roll and ex izuna are unaltered it should do 445 >_< and izuna drop leaves vega in a good position. without his mask it should do 490 lol

No word on Opening Gambit?

another hidden nerf?!

i heard reports of guile taking counter-hit damage for a large duration of the sonic boom recovery. same as what was mentioned for Deejay’s airslasher in the development blog. can anyone confirm? is this the same for all fireball characters?

  • I haven’t noticed getting counter-hit on boom recovery. Maybe I haven’t noticed?
  • Backfist still has sweet range.
  • I lied. You can totally combo mk super > U2
  • U1 is still U1. But it does some serious damage on the last kick.
  • Quit bitching. Guile is still good.

I just looked in the blanka section and noticed that despite their reputation as getting the second worse nerfs, they actually seem to think they got some nice buffs they didn’t know about.

Is it possible that Guile got any buffs that weren’t mentioned in the blog?

I’m so glad I never got used to using U2.
Can’t wait till the local arcade gets this!

i think u2 will still be best against chun, ryu, sim, sagat, akuma and maybe gief/honda for mobile AA. maybe rose, but i think i would use u1 against rose because i crumple her slide fairly often.

i will probably use u1 in all other match ups.

after watching some videos, it appears that this is true. guile even took CH damage after his ex boom was a full screen distance away. it also looks like it’s only for deejay and guile. oh well… :bluu:

This vid at 3:52 seems to show it.

interesting

Wow. Really Capcom? I thought this was supposed to only be the case for Deejay’s EX-Air Slasher which made sense to me considering it has 2 projectiles and that DeeJay should sort of be more vulnerable with his projectiles but on Guile too? Out of all the changes I’ve seen this one does not sit too well with me.

EX-Tiger Shot, EX-Neck Breaker, EX-Blanka Ball, EX-Rolling Sobat… Viper’s everything, Fuerte’s everything… ughh the potential pain…

Not only do characters have multiple ways around projectiles, but now we get CH damage when they hit us out of a projectile. Maybe Daigo was right in saying projectile characters suck now.

joy

EDIT: I just realized that CH also does 125% more stun too, combined with Guile’s super low stun meter makes for fun times!

him switching from Ryu to Guile was not so odd, the fact that he switched from Ryu/Gule to Yun was a strong statement… I will still play guile, but will have to migrate to another character for a main…

i saw one video where ryu ex-fireball through SB for counter-hit, and right after guile ex-SB through fireball for normal hit. i then shed a tear.

still can’t believe you are open for CH for the entire duration of the long ass recovery for ex boom…

Ahh yes you see, this is where Capcom has cleverly balanced Guile’s meter usage. Since we will actually be scared to throw an EX-Boom from just about anywhere on screen now, we simply won’t use it much. And look! More meter! -_-
