Guile Combo Thread: Flash Kick FADC *shades*!

Ok, walk up c.lk > c.lp > c.mp xx flashkick is sadly not possible. I couldn’t get it to work with a boom either but that could be my error. I was also unable to score a UDK > c.mp xx flashkick combo. I don’t think the charge time for a flashkick has changed.

Also, did anyone notice that hk super recovers much faster now? It used to be impossible to juggle an ultra after an hk super in vanilla, but it’s crazy easy to land U2 after an HK super. Definately gives some incentive to land that far s.hp xx hk super.

There should be enough frames to get a c.lk > cr.lp > cr.mp xx sonic boom. Especially if it’s possible to do a corner st.mp xx lp sonic boom > cr.mp xx hp.sonic boom.

Strange stuff happenned to me while I was practicing combos and links.

I was doing : Jump Strong Kick xx C.lp > C.lp > C.mp > Sonic Boom when I screwed up on my gamepad and super cancelled Sonic Boom with Double Somersault ( That was totally random ). I can’t do that combo again !

FA3 xx Forward Dash -> b.hk -> cr.mp xx lp Sonic Boom (corner) -> df.hk xx hk Flash kick works on:
[]Dudley
[
]Ibuki
[]Makoto
[
]Seth
[]Gen
[
]Dee Jay
[]Guile
[
]Adon
However at the correct spacing I believe j.hk -> cr.mp xx lp sonic boom -> df.hk -> hk Flash Kick works on everyone. The Sonic Boom has to hit meaty for the combo to work.

Note that I did a recording and used that to test.

FA3 -> b.hk hits meaty on Adon and Ibuki and I believe nobody else new.

That was my main set-up for getting the Super out in Vanilla…as a Guile player, you should have that one down as easy as your j.hk/hp>cr.mp>FK

Damn, wonderful find! As a few people have emailed me, this thread needs updatin’. I’ll give it the super update when I get a few moments. I’ll need to completely retest the damage on all these combos from scratch too since a lot of things got tweaked. Expect a completed revision in about a week.

It might be a good idea to post the SSF4 in the first few posts,(maybe add notes about important changes) and relocate the SF4 data in spoiler tags on your last post to preserve the data.

I didn’t see anyone mention it, but now in SSFIV guiles df.hk can be combo-ed with a non ex-flash kick. I use it all the time online, especially against any tatsu that flies over my head. Gets about 270 dmg with hk.fk.

Jump in HK > st.mp xx sonic boom > FADC > df+hk > “insert follow up here” works on ryu/Sagat/Abel midscreen. You can also subsitute st.hp instead of st.mp to get the crouching opponent to stand up.

Wondering if this combo has been talked about:

J.HK, Guile High Kick, EX Flash Kick

Yes, it works, try it.

I dont know where someone was saying that super comes out alot easier in combos. To some extend I disagree. In vanilla, I could do c.lp or c.lk>c.lp>c.lp>super>flash explosion very very often in online matches. Now I cant seem to link the super in the exact way I did in vanilla. The reason why I was so succesful in vanilla with this was because I didnt use the z motion from the last c.lp to super. I was using db,uf,db,uf in a very fast input + double tap mk. It was working very good for me.

Now in super, if I try to do this motion I can barely get it 2 times out of 10. I have to change the db,uf,db,uf to z motion in order to get it done. As a matter of fact, the z motion seems to have gotten easier and the db,uf,db,uf got harder. Maybe it is because I switched from flash explosion to Sonic hurracane, I might be doing a forward instead of an up forward(uf).

Holy crap. Yes. I used the same motion as I felt it was faster for me to do one quick “swipe” rather than back, forward, back, forward. I was pretty much at 100%, it was automatic. In Super I’m having a lot of problems getting the super and U1 out. It’s soooo annoying. I’ve been switching to the db,f,db,uf motion but I just don’t like it. Even with that one it’s embarrassing how often I can’t get it out considering I main Guile.

Revelade: oldest combo in the book, even worked in vanilla.

Apologies if this is already known, but I didn’t find it anywhere in this forum so figured I’d go ahead and share.

Against 80% of the cast, Guile can combo into :df::hk: after a Focus Attack. Odds are you’ve seen or tried it on big characters, but it works on smaller characters as well with the right timing.

I thought about this after doing Sagat’s Challenge mode. For some of his trials that involve an EX Focus, you need to wait for Dan to slump forward before doing the next hit in the combo. Same rule applies to :df::hk: after Focus.

To practice, I recommend picking Ryu, Ken, or Akuma. Hit them with a Focus Attack, dash cancel forward, then hold :df:. Right after they slump to their knees, hit :hk:. Based on my testing, this timing seems to be the same against every character that requires the delayed input.

First off, here are the characters that do not require a delayed :df::hk: after Focus:

-Dudley, Seth, Gouken, Abel, Bison, Sagat, Cammy, Dee Jay, Hakan, Fuerte*, Balrog*

*Doing :df::hk: right away sometimes whiffs on Fuerte and Balrog. I recommend delaying it a little to ensure consistency.

Here are the characters who do require a delayed :df::hk: after Focus:

-Ryu, Ken, Honda, Ibuki, Makoto, Akuma, Gen, Sakura, Guile, *Fei Long

*When I was testing it on Fei Long, the timing seemed to be harder and required me to wait a little longer. Personally I’d recommend against trying this combo on him as it didn’t seem consistent.

Finally, here are the characters that cannot be hit with :df::hk: after Focus:

-Dan, Juri, Chun, Dhalsim, Viper, Cody, Adon

Note: I tested this after lvl 2, lvl 3, and CH lvl 1 Focus against some characters, but not all. While using different Focus Attacks didn’t seem to make a difference, I can’t rule it out for certain.

Great info!

This is all very important because probably the biggest section that needs an update in this post is the FA section. Between damage changes and backfist hitbox changes, a simple df.hk > flashkick could do more or less than an UDK combo midscreen, depending on multiple factors (can I link UDK > s.hp easily? Can I backfist after the boom? etc).

On a side note, check out this disgusting, and yet practical combo vs a cornered sim.

Level 3 crumple > UDK > s.hp xx jab boom > df.hk > df.hk > EX flashkick.

or…

Level 3 crumple > UDK > s.hp xx jab boom > df.hk > hk flashkick xx FADC > Sonic Hurricane.

Nice contribution Zig

Thanks a lot Zigmover !

No problem. Speaking of UDK, I could combo into close Fierce the first time I tried it, yet haven’t succeeded in doing so since. That first attempt was against Dudley, so I was wondering: Is b/f+RH, FP character-specific? Or is the timing just retarded?

Generally only works either on counter-hit, as a meaty, or off a focus crumple. Focus crumple is character-specific and listed in the first post.

it works, damage is 340 at level 3 FA
but I will not change my s.hp FK after a level 3 FA, the damage is 348

A nice combo that I think is viable.

crossup j.lk>c.lp>s.lp>s.hp>s.hp does 206 dmg. I only tested it on Adon, Balrog, and Bison.

Doesn’t work on Ryu you only get one s.hp.
