I wouldn’t even touch the JL movie as of now. If I’m them, I’m focusing on making better subsidiaries, like the Flash. The good news is, like I said, Ryan Reynolds was the ONLY good part (allegedly) of the GL movie…and if they did a JL movie, they’d only need him. But if they can’t show they can do a non-Batman movie well, it’s not even worth the risk. Which sucks because they need this outlet. I dunno how things are going on the comic front, but they don’t have NEAR the animated dominance that they held with the DCAU. Young Justice is great, but Marvel has CANCELLED more great shows than DC has put out recently. Somewhere they have to establish dominance.
I’m on the fence about Marvel. I mean i’m pissed they took off Wolverine and the X-men but i heard that was more so financial reasons which is understandable but I think they could continue where that show left off if they wanted. But they are riding high on the Avengers cartoon which is a good thing.
But DC is fuckin up big time on the comic front just cause they are rebooting EVERYTHING into #1’s come September. Barbara Gordon is gonna be walking and be batgirl again and Dick Grayson is going back as Nightwing.
…Okay, in that case, DC’s REALLY in trouble, did not know that they were fucking up on the comic front.
So Comics…they’re losing
Movies…they got Batman which is nice…but a great critical success is not as good for business as multiple good successes. So business wise, they’re losing.
TV/Animated: Well…they could’ve been winning (as it’s basically Young Justice vs. Avengers)…but when you release your newest episode in a long ass time…over the internet…not good. And Avengers is about to kick off the Secret Invasion (of course it’s RIGHT as Cap is establishing leadership…but I digress) which can be really hype.
Someone hit the DC alarms.
EDIT: Okay, maybe they’re not losing on comics. Okay, seriously what’s the general response? Are they doing better, worst…or just similar than Marvel?
The General concensus on the comic front at least from various message boards i’ve been to is that its the worst idea ever. There only doing this to “gain” new readers which is bullshit. I mean i’m not a big dc comic reader (Marvel all the way) but even i know this is bad because it negates all the good stuff they’ve done over the past couple of years just to reboot everything back to normal. Hell the Batgirl thing is the biggest slap in the face. So yeah Marvel is definitely winning at this point.

They are alienating old readers and trying to establish a new young, hip crowd. It’s also the same song and dance you hear with reboots: some pissant comc writer is lile “back in my day comics were better and so and so was still X character” bitching and whining leads to reboot, and thus most character evolutions were wasted.
I think this time it was the female writer, Simone I think, really pushing for a reboot this last year so Barbera could be Batgirl again.
From a marketing perspective I don’t know how they can get new readers unless they do television and magazine ads and show off some stuff newer teens enjoy. Because unless I was already curious about comics, I’m not going into a comic store.
I could be wrong but it’s what I am hearing in the grapevine. I like DC over Marvel but I haven’t touched a comic since Feb and neither major company is compelling me to do so.
To keep on topic, GL still looks like ass and RR should have been Kyle Rayner. Bomb has been dropped.
So yeah…Marvel’s winning on all three fronts.
Excuse while I go back to watch Batman Beyond and remember the old days of the DCAU.

Marvel has a good animation program, a fantastic in house movie line and an alright comic line. So yeah they are “winning” but it’s not to much of a competition I don’t think, they routinely compliment each others work and aren’t really dissing each other.
Only DC animated product I like right now is BaTB and their animated features (makes Marvel’s animated films look like complete shit), and the Morrison run Batman titles and Booster Gold for comics.
Edit to Rock: lol, touche.

True, I need to catch up on YJ when I have the time and give it a better chance. From the looks of that thread things are gearing up.
Avengers is godlike though, hope Disney doesn’t can it, they do that often.
No, I know that’s very true. The problem is…Young Justice is the only Animated DC series on currently (Batman:BatB ended if I’m not mistaken), and it’s equal IMO to the Avengers series (love them both). Marvel has other things coming out after the fact…not to mention…the animes…and Iron Man Armored Adventures, which is mediocre, is supposed to have a second season eventually (I believe…I remember raging that of all the things to get renewed, THAT got it over SSM and Wolvie).(which could be good, I’ll give it a fair shot, like most everything). I haven’t heard anything about any new DC animated projects coming out of the woodworks.
So just by math, two equal shows cancel each other out. Marvel has other stuff out, DC doesn’t, Marvel’s winning…

BaTB is on it’s last season, CN is milking the releases through the year but two episodes are downloadable through iTunes. One has Wonder Woman in the teaser, the second has Hal Jordan in the main adventure.
EDIT: DC is prepping a new Batman show when BaTB goes off. Said to be a darker more mature series inspired by TAS.
It is? I could’ve sworn it ended. If that’s the case, I take it back, DC’s winning on that.
EDIT: Ah, I see AYO. Alright. Well, at the MOMENT, I guess I can put DC in the lead…but once BatB ends…meh.

Yeah, I am pretty hype for it. I will be looking forward to footage or news of that and Batman: Year One plus future DC animated projects they have lined up.

The avengers cartoon will be 52 eps. Season 1 (26 eps) alredy finished and we saw some of what’ll be in Season 2.
Brave and the Bold is in its last Season but not all eps have aired on CN. You can find some eps on iTunes however.
As far as DC goes they just released GL: Emerald Knights which IMO is fantastic, their next release will be Batman: Year One IIRC.
Next year we’ll get a JL animated feature and another Batman animated feature as well.
Spectacular Spider-Man (cartoon) > ALL. Greg Weisman (YJ prdoucer) also worked on that.
Anyways, not the biggest DC fan. TBH I think most of their characters lack depth. But I really really like Jason Todd and the Batman universe in general.
I’ll be watching this cause I’m a comic fan.
And as far as the DC reboot goes, I think they should have just started an “Ultimate” universe and kept their current universe going.

reviews are improving. when I checked earlier, the average was 20%…
It was like 24% when I read the review…thats going down haha.
From what i’ve read of the reviews, the CG is good, Ryan Reynolds is good, the movie is only entertaining for the first 20 minutes and the last 20 minutes, and easter egg ending jumps the shark big time and makes no sense.

Even Ry-curious Reynolds isn’t enough to deter me from dropping $$$ on this.
So yeah, agreed.

IGN gave it 2 stars… and they fap over the very thought of franchise flicks.
So yeah - my hopes for this film are dashed like little baby Astyanax.
