Yeah to be honest since this was my first tourny Im not used to people over my shoulder and plus the fact it was streaming I was a little unfocused (not scared) so their was certain moments where I wasnt thinking. I made a number of mistakes but I did even out the match with some decent combos.
P.S I medium punch to ultra as a signature move for me. I noticed some players dash to ultra after palm which is decent but it could be unaccurate at times for me, so in others word I implemented my own flavor thats all l
nice solid gameplay, i hope to see you and shine in the futue BFA tourneys.
small tip i notice not many people do against rog. Gouken standing FP stop Rog’s random rush punches. i tend to do it at the start of the round, just to test the waters and see if they’ll go for a quick rush punch and then try to turtle back.
ummm i think imam watch these vids again lol, nice to see people from the Gouken forums repping the big G-UNIT lol
HEY ANY ONE ELSE FROM THESE FORUMS GOT ANY TOURNEYS VIDS/OR RECENT XBL FIGHTS RECORDED PLEASE POST UP IF IF YOU LOSE, JUST POST EM PLEASE.
@KillerKelley where yous Gouken vidoes, ive tried to look you up but cant find any
Yeah, in a tournament match, the j. strong helps a lot because it guarantees the full ultra. Only problem is that it scales the ultra even moreso than if you did the combo without the j. strong.
Osirus, that match against smooth viper was great. I liked how you kept your space and played very safely rather than rush in and did the demon flips to make opportunities.
whats the goal of the standing short reset? you cancelling into something or dashing past or what? this is the first ive heard of a standing short reset, which is why i ask
I never get any of my matches recorded. i dont have a camera either, so that doesnt help. Ill see what i can do, but honestly you arent missing much. i feel im average at best. Which means i should prolly get footage soon cuase i could use some critiquing.
Ive got a REALLY old replay on live and also some SUPER old matches on youtube that show my gouken in its early stages. They dont reflect anything of how i play now though. i look at those matches and just laugh at all the shit i wasnt doing and all the damage i could have gotten. lol
erm.
if you consider the entire spectrum of levels of street fighter ability, i think that you can admit, even with modesty, that you are far above average.
replays depend greatly upon the skill of your opponent.
a lot of people post videos of themselves winning while doing complicated combos in this thread.
that looks great, but it doesnt show much unless you are overcoming the solid strategies of a good player.
when you think about it, because of his damage, a gouken player could double perfect a really good player without playing well at all.
“oops, i guessed wrong twice. you must be the best gouken in the universe so go post your video in the gouken thread.”
Raun are you trying to down play my technique by claiming some one else such as killakelly is the best with Gouken? How does that sound ? In this case Im not offended he probably is, but trully the purpose of this forum is for the less skilled to watch videos learn and then apply. I dont have time to critique someone elses game style Im to busy whoopin ass when I can. And two perfects against a noob possible. Against a Pro come on you got to be kidding me
P.S. Raun you didnt even pay homage to my Gouken which leads me to believe there some hate especially asking in the other post why I j.MP before Ultra live and let live dude sheesh you dont see me commenting about SHines Gouken or anybody elses at that.
lol, i didnt say anything about you.
i was not talking about everyone who posts a video in this thread.
posting videos of tournament play is always a good thing, win or lose, because the players are there to win and believe in their ability.
you need to calm down and respect yourself.
i heard you get upset about people talking about shine when you were at the tournament as well.
it just makes you look like a douchebag!
when i asked why you used j.mp, it was out of curiosity.
i wanted to know if there was a reason other than style.
i thought you played very well!
do not worry about what i think of you brother.
if i mean to say something to you, i will address you directly.
i will not snipe at you through a statement to someone else.
You can use close standing short to reset. I use it mainly because of how low to the ground they get reset, possibly messing up reversal timing, and also because if you follow up with an immediate crossover it cannot be reversal anti-aired by anything and does not autocorrect. This works well on Cammy, who literally cannot do anything about it without putting herself at risk or puts you in a better position. There are a few things you can do during the crossover to mix it up. If you do j.forward, they either have to block the crossup or will be crossed up and reset while executing their reversal. You can use d+forward divekick also, and this will either be a very ambiguous crossup (this varies depending on character fatness), or will safely whiff if they perform reversal dp/uppercut/AA/whatever which then gets a full punish. I’m currently trying to work in Air Tatsu.
Really surprised to see someone else trying to use it.
I found it myself after trying to find a way round Cannon Spike and still keep the momentum. It works on almost all characters with similar reversals. The only character I wouldn’t do it on is Gief. I reccommend trying it in Training mode first so you see how it works.
Raun Im well aware of subliminals you might not call people out or even mention them directly but let me the bigger man about this and forget what you even posted. Comments are all good at the end of the day, and yes I did comment about Shines Gouken at the tournament because the Host Tri-force asked and I quote " Osiris are you here to replace shines Gouken?" and I said “Ive been playing Gouken before I even knew Shine and or have seen any of his videos.” I also spoke to another tourny player because he mentioned that Shine got away with alot of parries I said “Ive seen all his videos and wondered the same thing, considering the fact there was some serious competition.” Thats all and you say Im a douchbag for saying that huh. Raun pay your respects and kneel before your master.
i wish i could show you guys my footage maybe someone on PSn will record me one day and say wtf.
killakelly honestly plays too safe IMO, that i have seen. he like… DOESNT use kongoshins. when you get someone in a corner with at least 2 bars they know even guessing a jab right could end about 60% of thier life, that saying if they think they are about to get countered, they usually try to empty jump, which, be smarter, know it was coming… boom ultra AA.
unless its a shoto, which my buddy usually will just air tatsu out and take the palm.
also, know the matchup and see whether you can safe jump or demon flip to beat tiger opporcoats or srks, this is where i get most of my damage my option selecting/ punishing backdashes.
also if they guard, try simple mixup games. cr.lp walk up to bait a throw (i dont know this is what i like to do) jump cancel EX palm to whiff through throws, or just forward grab since BACKGRAB IS GARBAGE AND NEEDS TO BE FIXED CAPCOM ARGGGGHHHHH
also, i hate zangief he makes me pick balrog or sagat lol -.-
