Against sagat you can combo into EX palm, dash, walk forward, crouch fierce into Demon flip. wee.

Check your execution and timing…

Believe it or not you are probably inputing too fast… try slowing it up and the 3 hit Ultra should connect instead. I normally watch when Gouken turns around before I input my Ultra and it connects about 90% of the time. You can do the motions pretty slow and still get it off…

I’m having trouble with gouken’s 3rd normal trial canceling his heavy kick into his super. I’m assuming its and issue of me being to slow with the inputs but i just wanted to see if any one had any tips for this

edit: playing on an ex2

Do one qcf before you pressing HK, then just do qcf punch after you hit it to finish the super motion. Dont forget its the first kick thats cancellable

Is there any other way to FADC out of a Tatsu into Ultra other then :mp: :mk: :qcf: :qcf: :3p: ?

For whatever reason I just cannot get the dash ever if I am facing right =\

Thats pretty much it unless you connect tatsu further away and dont cross under. I’ve given up on that all together and just go for the fp reset as it sucks getting dash under->ex counter

Are you guys doing the trials on stick, controller or both for Gouken’s trials? I’m up to Hard #4 and just wondering if I should hang up the TE stick for a minute and do it on a controller or just stick to the stick (pun intended)? What’s the success rate for you guys: stick vs. controller? Thanks.

HARD #4 Progress Report Day 1: I can get to the focus cancel portion at this point ~3/10x but can’t seem to churn out the Ultra. Had to stop due to hand cramping after a 3 hour non-stop attempt last night!
Progress Report Day 2: My progress has fallen off a bit. my st.mp just doesn’t want to link to my cr.lp and my Ultra still isn’t coming out, if i do get the first 5 parts of the string. A matter of fact I feel like I’ve gotten a bit worse because I can’t get the Ultra out even if I start with the cr.lp…to Ultra! Using some hype juice (Red Bull) to see if the twich factor makes a difference. Disappointed but not deterred.
Progress Report Day 3: GEEEZUSS KRYST!!! STILL stuck on that Ultra after 2 1/2 hours of non-stop attempts.
Progress Report Day 4: Got my Ultra out…and didn’t connect.

Things I’ve Learned 1: Spliting this one up helps ALOT! I recommend starting at the c.lp>tatsu>FADC>Ultra part instead of the last three which come out relatively easy on their own. BUT, that link between the c.lp to tatsu is MUY IMPORTANTE! You’ll know you’ve got it if you connect a 5 hit combo. Mapping buttons is the best thing you can do for yourself. On a six button joystick setup I have:
l.punch, m.punch, f.punch
triple punch, FA, f.kick
The triple punch is my panic button just in case I can’t get to the top row fast enough. Round 2 tonight…for just a half hour…it’s Friday!
Things I’ve Learned 2: Slower is better in regards to getting that link between st.mp and cr.lp. Changed up my button config a bit. My tendancey, in regards to the Ultra, is that I WANT to hit 3 buttons so I changed my f.punch to triple punch. It doesn’t hinder the first element of the combo as a triple punch comes out as a f.punch. New setup:
l.punch, m.punch, triple punch
triple punch, FA, f.kick
Things I’ve Learned 3: I used to rush the st.mp, cr.lp but it wouldn’t link most of the time. I find that if it’s more “on beat” (think Sagat’s three knees to the chest throw) it links.

side note This trial has made completing other trials for other characters easy to me. Ran through several normal and hard trials as a “break” from this one.

IMO, stick is way better for everything, but that’s a question of personal taste I believe. Took me about 3 months to get that #4 trial so don’t give up yet…

I use Dash :qcf: :qcf:, just have to be fast enough to hit the motion during the dash, although some spacing helps.

I like my keyboard just fine.

I think FADC or playing Abel would be a nightmare with a keyboard.

I haven’t bothered with Hard Trial 4. It’s absolutely worthless, for one. If you land that j.hp, then you can follow up with a far, far more damaging EX senku juggle. You could probably get close to that amount of damage without needing a corner or FADC as well. Some of the trials are challenging for the sake of it, rather than to actually be useful. Not to mention the utter absurdity of pulling off a backwards quarter circle, then a precisely timed dash followed by 2 qcf’s in the span of about half a second.

Abel is easy peasy on a keyboard, and FADC is cake if your keyboard doesn’t suck. Just takes skill and practice.

I did it! 5 days! Studied, visualized, focused, materialized!Hard #4 is in the bag!:smokin: Thanks for all your input. :china:

You can see my progress in my previous post. It breaks down a bit more of what I learned here, how I implimented and conformed it.

Hard #5 was actually fun after my victory over #4. All in all it took me about 15 minutes to beat it after breaking it down. 10 minutes last night and only three times this morning before getting it.

Start with the cr.f punch>EX Senkugoshoha>EX Gohadouken>Ultra (shouldn’t take long to get this; you’ll see why with my button config). Get that first. Then work on the timing of the fully charged light Gohadouken into focus. I found that if you start holding focus a milla-second before your Gohadouken comes out you’ll get that link. Wait for Gouken to flash white before you let go or you’ll just get a Level 1 focus and Dan won’t crumple. You have to dash, between the focus and the cr. f punch.
My button set up for this was just the bottom row:
l. punch, focus, triple punch (again triple punch comes out a f. punch so it’s really only one button for everything after the focus attack)

Good luck…(Abel Hard Trials here I come).

I just finished Abel Hard Trials. If you like 1 frame links, you’re going to love Hard Trial 5.
To use his f.mk dash and follow up with a hard punch, make sure you press mk ONCE and are NEUTRAL when you press hp, if you have the stick/ d-pad in any direction, it won’t come out fast enough. A lot of people have trouble with that. But unlike Gouken’s Hard Trial 4, it actually makes you learn and combine important techniques for Abel, and I got way better with Abel after finishing it.

I haven’t worked on Gouken Hard 4, does anyone have more ideas for that? The link is a pain and the FADC is a pain. Probably plenty of threads about it too.

I know it’s off topic Mods…sorry, I’ll move it to the Abel thread after this but…I think you may have just helped me with my problem with Abel Hard Trial #3. I’ll give it a try but after the FADC to c.hp I keep getting a Falling Sky instead of c.hp. I’ll try getting it to neutral before attempting the launcher into Ultra.

Breaking it up is what really worked for me. The last part first…starting with the c.lp…>Ultra. Then try the j.hp…>c.lp (think Sagat’s three knees to the chest timing for this) slower is better than faster for the link between st.mp and c.lp.
Try changing the button config if it’s about beating the trial rather than mastering Gouken.
Like you said the Hard Trials are just that and don’t seem viable in matches (at least #4). I thought I’d be a Gouken God after these trials…err, not so much. Unlike Abel’s where I’ve seen these moves in matches and I feel they’ve actually made me better with him. Good luck.

I think i might have found something with Gouken and i dont see anyone ever use it so im assuming that nobody knows about it.

When your opponent jumps in use hp gohadouken, fadc, ultra. Just a useful tip i have abused this a lot Lately.

Edit: About Gouken Hard Trial 4 if you don’t feel like earning it the hard way, you can pause the game in between attacks.

What are some of Gouken’s useful links?

you can chain c.lp’s together and into c.lk, that is useful, but not a link.
other than setups requiring counter hit, you can link c.lp or c.mk after close mp.
that is about it.

Counter hit far fp to sweep is a good counter hit link, other than that his links consist of s.mp to c.lp or s.mp to c.mk. Gay.

One other link that i have found that works in the corner at least (not sure about midscreen) is L.FB > c.HP. I think this is a loop that can be done a couple of times before you are pushed back. Not really that useful and it’s difficult to pull of. There are youtube vids of this.

Gouken dosn’t have much variation when it comes to combos. The main ones I use is s.HP xx ex palm > palm/dash tatsu/fadc ultra and cross-up j.MK to s.MK xx l.Palm rest of my game is grabs, resets and counters.

I almost never use tatsu unless it is after either back throw or ex.palm, way to unsafe and I suck at hitconfirm.
