With Dudleys counter being rumored to not be armor breakable, and Seth confirming Juri’s “dodge counter” is no longer on the FA system, we can only pray Gouken is free of this shackle…
EDIT: link to source
If Gouken’s Parry is still bound to the FA system, I’ll want to scream, in Gouken fashion: NOOOOOOOO!!!
Seriously, Dudley’s Cross Counter isnt bound to the FA system, and now Juri’s evasion move isn’t either, and it supposedly BUILDS METER if she whiffs it. With Dudley, at least he takes some of the damage from the move that hits him, half of it I believe, and he deals the full amount to the foe.

Looking forward to what other changes will be made before deciding my take on this. Right now it looks quite bad for us:
Since denjin is unblockable at full charge…I wonder if maybe ex fireball fadc denjin and charge up will be any difficult to get around, if they don’t have any ex bars? Probably it will since so many characters have ways of getting around fb’s…

“Of course the three new SFIII fighters are big, but otherwise tweaks to the entire cast were ongoing up until the final build.” The game isn’t being balanced anymore? What are they planning for March and April? Mostly advertising?

To be fair, they don’t say Juri’s counter isn’t armor-breakable. They just say it doesn’t absorb damage. It’s still possible it loses to armor-breakers.
I do hope they looked at Gouken’s list of moves that “almost work, most of the time” though. Would like a bit more consistency out of his moves. Counter randomly losing to certain 2-hit normals and specials, opponents falling out of EX tatsu, predicting a fireball and palming and STILL getting hit, and so on. The overlap between low counter and tatsu is pretty infuriating, because it effectively removes Gouken’s best reversal from play when crouch-blocking. Shortcuts are known for causing input errors, but nothing as egregious as with Gouken, where it causes a physical impossibility in move execution.
Games are usually finished at least 6 weeks before their launch date. It needs to go through Xbox and Playstation certification, non-Capcom testing, the games need to be pressed and distributed, the press and strategy guide makers need time with the full game to make reviews and guides, etc. A lot of paperwork and red tape.
You are correct, I am getting ahead of myself. Even so, if that was applied to kongo, it would mean kongo would be viable at low life. As of now, it is not thanks to being tied to FA.

Quoted for truth.
Even though you said you were getting ahead of yourself I think you were quite in the right place when concerning Juri, but we still have to wait.
Anybody knows if there’s any big event coming so we can get more gameplay footage(even though few people play the old man)?

In the one video that showed his Cross Counter (I think the cut-together match that came out just after his reveal, against Sagat) it looked like he took full damage from the hit he countered. If it wasn’t full, it was pretty decent damage. I’d take white life damage over that any day.
Supposedly March 10th the embargo is lifted from the “beta testers”, so you should have all the information you want in 2 weeks.
Why would a counter move without super armour lose to armour breaking attacks, when the purpose of armour breaking moves (a system based property) is to counter super armour (a system based property)?
Logically? None.
Why does Ryus j.mp juggle into everything and Goukens not? Logically? I don’t know…
Why does EX air tatsu for Ken and Ryu have nil or close to nil recovery but Gouken has 3 years? Logically, don’t know…
Why does a move, based upon prediction, still lose to certain moves flat out, even when properly predicted? Logically? Again…

The j.mp thing is outrageous indeed, his game was kinda rushed out, they were afraid of making him too strong obviously.
The reason why cr. mp doesn’t combo with fireball is probably the fear of cr. mp xx fireball fadc cr. hp xx ex palm being too strong.
Same fear for j. mp, fireball, ultra or something like that.
Same fear for st. mp, cr. lp. tatsu fadc ultra on crouching enemies.
I kinda agree he would be too strong with all those things(non focus system parry, cr. mp xx hadou, j.mp, less recovery on air tatsu, reversal ex tatsu), but I doubt allowing a couple of those would take him straight to the top.
Question: is sagat able to link cr. mk, lk tiger, fadc, cr. mk, ex TU, ultra?

Did anyone read the latest Seth interview about Juri? She has a counter move and the latest builds stopped doing grey damage to her while she performs the move. It gave her more “options”.
Fuckers buffing up the new chic that hasn’t had widespread play and Gouken hasn’t gotten love. Oh, he’ll be getting love from Juri’s NON-grey damage encountering counter and be taking it right up where the sun don’t shine.
There are actually reasons for all of those. All system-based.
What I’m getting at is this assumption from players of what is to come without any basis on fact or, in the case of a fighting game, it’s rules. Juri evade move thing no longer having super armour but doing what it says on the tin anyway, and then people thinking "oh, armour breaking moves will still probably beat it’. Why? Why would it? It’s not got super armour. You use armour breakers to BREAK super armour, that’s the reason they have that property.
Exactly thanks for putting out what I couldn’t have worded better.
And no need to buff anything else with Gouken, he just needs FIXING.
That’s right, fixing. Like many people said before, give him at least a 2in1 (cr. MP to hado, cr. LP to hado -which I do alot) OR jabs linking into… palm ? (yeah I dont think there’s a decent move Gouken could link into, maybe that was the problem the devs were facing I don’t know).
I’m convinced he doesn’t need anything else. He’s a peculiar shoto and I love him for his peculiarities. Ok maybe his tatsu hitbox needs debugging but thats about it really. Fix his links Capcom !
Yea howling you’re right, that character was kinda rushed out and probably they were afraid of making him too strong.
I sometimes play Ken as an alt in order to satisfy my ‘links into super moves’ NEED : )
Gouken is up on the main site guys, and it looks like he recovers fast enough after Denjin to tack on at least a LP Palm.
Man, I can’t wait to try it out.
I wonder why they showed Gouken and Akuma’s ultras much later than the others. I’m hoping it’s an implication that development spent extra time tweaking them.
Ugh, roflcopter is still there
Agreed, really looks like a palm follow up is possible.
I’m hyped for this ultra. Depending on if/how it can be set up and maybe juggled it could be better than ultra 1 in some situations.
I’m just hoping that Denjin iflicts Stun. To be honest that’s he only thing, other than its easier combo-ability, that’s making me want to try it out. Gouken has very good Stun combos, especially in the corner, and if he gained access to a few of them mid-screen, it might help him out, apart from the actual buffs/fixes he needs as well.
I’ve also been thinking, if getting Denjin to full charge doesn’t take too long, would using EX Palm, start charging Denjin, then release a fully charged Denjin on the foe’s wakeup be a legit tactic, ala SAIII Ryu? Like I said, this will only be possible if Denjin reaches full charge fairly quickly, at least faster than his current normal GoHadoken anyway.
