Gouken AE Match Ups. MASTER Thread

yeah I tend to do independent paragraphs on each mu in detail. to simply put numbers and no reasons to why wouldn’t do it right. but if you want me to I can do #s for now

Because nobodies updated the gouken threads, I will do so.

So, you, on your own, are going to rewrite Gouken tech for each character rather than try to get the community to take pieces to work on and update what is already there? Okay dude. I respect your initiative but just don’t be surprised when people question your strategies and doctrine.

Thats what I had to do for the oni forums on some match ups T_T. Its what happens when nobody posts/plays your dude. I say go for it, any information can be good. Even if its questionable/flawed it gives a base for someone to build off of rather then having to teach yourself everything.

I think we are here to help each others, so I can take a cut of what ever it’s going to be done. Just a reminder, I work and do some others stuff, so my time is limited for playing video games!!!

Okay, but that base already exists and it’s pretty good. Updating those pages for Ultra is a great idea. Rewriting the whole thing is kind of crazy.

Please don’t overlap the match up info with the standard BNB/combo info. BnBs should work on anyone for the most part.

As far as the. MU’s it might be easier just to add any changes from Ultra and how they now apply/affect MU. Then you could just quote or copy the info that is still holds true from the existing threads. (See the master thread and the link to the Super/AE data. That I overhauled).

I believe another patch is coming out so you might want to wait, bc if that changes it will kinda change some aspects.

Definitey break the MUs up per character though so info isn’t lost and is all in one place as it is now.

Hi. I’m making a match-up post in a few character forums because I’m looking to run some sets. I’m a US, East Coast ER player. I don’t play ranked but I usually give or take in sets with players 3.3kpp to 4kpp for what it’s worth.

Gouken gives me a bit of trouble when i run into a good one, so please add Dragon Metsu on 360 or DragonMetsu on ps4 (I say ps4 because I do not own a ps3 copy of the game). Feedback after the sets (win or lose) is appreciated.

^I don’t have PS4 and I live in europe, so I can’tplay with you. But Evil Ryu should do well in the match-up, it’s at best even but probably an advantage for ER. Gouken will try to zone you (that’s where Gouken is most comfortable against ER IMO) but focus dashing through fireballs (or just letting it rip in mid range) is such a good tool against that strat. Don’t jump, be patient and approach him on the ground using focus and your good forward dash and walk speed. Maybe you’re already doing this stuff, IDK. Just thought I’d try to help.

I need the Gouken brain trust to help me out with the Dudley match up. I can’t throw fireballs from midscreen or at all if he has ultra 1, close range he can blow Gouken up, he can anti air easilly and shut down demon flips. wat do? All I’ve found so far is jab is pretty good at shutting down duck unders, charging lp fireballs can mess with his timing on duck unders, and low parry can catch his overhead.

Dudley uses a lot of standing normals in his footsie game, so our own standing normals like st.HP and st.HK should be used as primary tools, IMO.

This is very easy to forget, but if we’re getting out-poked, then we should “poke” with a fireball from slightly further out, but the spacing might lead them to jump in though, so it should ideally be spaced right ouside of say Dudley’s f.HP range, or Vega’s cr.MP range.

Against his ducking dashes, I sort of preemptively use cr.LK->combo – Dudley is also kind of preemptively using those ducking dashes against fireballs, so both parties are kind of gambling.

Stand your ground (don’t back away) with st.HP/ st.MP, and use cr.LK->LP Palm if it looks like he wants to ducking dash in.
