Got in an hour of ULLLLtimate so far. Impressions

Offtopic… but Mariodood, you featured in Max’s video? 1:23, seems like he’s got a ‘4 bar connection’ to you. How was that, if you remember? You guys are on opposite ends of the country right?

EDIT: Sorry for hijacking an awesome thread.

You can get max dmg on a pad by mashing H. No awkward positioning involved.

Well I’ve had around 4:30 hours with the game as of now and here is what I can say about it:

First of all, hitstun decay is more of a factor than I though it would be. MANY of the things I use to do with Zero is gone in almost every situation. Heavy revamping of combos is going to be needed. Now for the Zero stuff (some of these stuff might be guesses of what I felt feels different, but most are confirmations):

Zero

  • Buster drops people faster to the ground. This is a huge nerf because in many situations that we could confirm buster into Raikouzen are now impossible. Combos involving Buster>:l: Raikouzen are much tighter as well. You can’t link s.:m: anymore from almost anywhere, s.:h: works 70% of the time. For the other 30% or so of situations, I found that if you plink your dash and s.:h: you can sometimes reach them from very far.
  • Sougenmu seems to last less.
  • :s: might have gotten an increase in the horizontal hitbox.
  • I feel cr.:m: a bit different, maybe slower?
  • DarkDeath loops is more strict than before.
  • Rekkouha actually might’ve gotten a tiny bit faster.
  • :h: Setsuizan range is pretty good now, but the recovery when landing is noticeable in some combos (even though :m: Setsuizan still is very fast).
  • :h: Hyenkyaku goes up more so it lasts more in total. :m: and :l: are both unchanged in the air and on the ground.
  • :h: Ryuenjin into buster is a little bit tricky to get apart from the basic s.:h:>Shippuga ground chain.
  • j.3:h: still has the same amount of hit stun in the air.
  • XF: Zero in XF lv.1 has basically the same speed as vanilla Zero in XF lv.3. The speed he gains is huge and just makes Zero better on point.
  • XF: Damage after air grab into XF combo is noticeably lower (around 820k maybe?)
  • XF: In XF lv.3, you can now link a cr.:l: after a very low the ground Setsuizan for the relaunch.
  • Unblockable during Sougenmu are still possible.
  • All the Sougenmu combos from Vanilla also work in this game (EX1: s.:h:>Shippuga loop, cr.:h:>Shippuga>j.:m:>j.:h:>j.:s: loop, Ride the Lightning, and D-Loop)

Okay, now for the combos.

j.:h: (2 hits)>cr.:l:>cr.:m:>cr.:h:>Shippuga (all hits)>:s:>SJ Forward>j.:m:>j.:m: xx :h: Setsuizan>land>NJ Back>:h: Setsuizan xx Buster xx :l: Raikouzen>(move back a bit) cr.:h:>:s:>j.:m:>j.:m>j.:h: (3 hits)>j.:s:

Now that above is right now my basic BnB in the corner. Now these are the different versions of to end the combo.

  • j.:s:>Rekkouha - Dmg: 603 Meter: 1
  • NJ Up Back>:h: Setsuizan xx Buster xx :l: Raikouzen>:h: Ryuenjin - Dmg: 588.400 Meter: 1 2.5/10
    +land>call Dante-a + TK :m: Setsuizan>:s:>NJ Up>Buster xx :l: Raikozeun>land>TK :m: Setsuizan - Dmg: 729 Meter: 1 5/10

Midscreen this combo, as of now at least, doesn’t work. You are going to have to stick to the DarkDeath loop or 2 loops of the Shippuga loop. The damage is not that bad at all, but assists increase the damage pretty good. Will try to find a more reliable combo midscreen when I get the chance.

Now for partners and assists.

Strange: They are very good together from what I’ve seen. Eye of the Agamotto allows you for a FULL Steb combo ender, that means double raikouzen and stuff (it even lets you do it a bit slower). The lockdown on the assist is great but it might scale combos significantly. Also, this assist appears right below you, so it can only be used when you are already near the them. Another thing, their DHC like we all knew are amazing. From anywhere, Rekkouha into Spell of Vishanti(?) works. Also one little trick: if you DHC almost immediately to Strange after Zero’s Rekkouha, Strange actually finishes his super quicker and allows for > Rekkouha>Strange Super>Strange Super.

Frank: Shopping Cart assist is very good. Not as good as Tatsu in vanilla, but still good enough. I has long lockdown and keeps the opponent standing. This assist also allows for the lite version of the Steb Combo ender (1 Raikouzen and using :m: Setsuizan to OTG ). Frank>Zero DHC is pretty damaging, but Zero>Frank not as much. The Zero to Frank DHC is kind of lacking. I haven’t found a way to level up Frank with Rekkouha THC or with assists. Frank appears to not use Zero’s assists that well for combos.

Strider: Oh boy. First of all, like I imagined, Legion>Sougenmu sets up the unblockable very nicely like Hail Storm and Round Harvest do. Strider’s Vajra assist is very good in general, and Zero has some uses for it. He can use it as combo finished (land>call Strider-y + NJ Up Back :h: Setsuizan xx Buster (Strider hits) xx :l:Hyenkyaku>Rekkouha. Now, I got very hyped when I heard Strider’s assist was a hard knockown because that meant Zero could get a full combo out of it. Well,it’s not that good. It’s pretty hard to get a confirm because of the Buster>Raikouzen nerf, but I’ll keep experimenting for more. BTW, Wesker + Strider seems a very good duo (new Wesker+Haggar). Zero can DHC from Strider in the corner, but the Zero>Strider DHC sucks in the damage department. A bit dissapointed but will keep experimenting.

Vergil: Haven’t tried him yet. Only thing I wanted to point out is that you get a full Steb ender with Vergil’s Rapid Slash assist.

Dante: DHC into DT got a bit weaker because the OTG guns don’t connect anymore. Jam Session has a bit more startup as an assist. You can now only do the lite version of the Steb ender, but managed to get :s:>TK :m: Raikouzen xx Buster xx :l: Raikouzen>land>:m: TK Setsuizan to work like twice.

Will try testing more of the new character later. Right now from what I’ve heard and seen: Strange, Dante, Doom, Hawkeye, and Vergil are pretty good partners for Zero.

Zero overall, got nerfed. The buster cancel from specials is nice, but needs more experimentation. Hitsun and Buster>Raikouzen nerfs are the biggest for sure. One thing I like is the buff in Zero’s solo damage. I see Zero competing with Wesker for the best meter builder I think lol.

BTW, tip for tomorrow. TURN THAT AUTO “HOLD S IS COOL” SUPER JUMP. Hate that shit.

Just like Akuma said, “[SIZE=3]私はより多くの訓練を必要とする” (I need more training),

What are your tier list opinions?

I was so happy to be in the video. I’m like  I’M ON TV!!!

I messed up a Hulk combo though. And I got raped by XF3 Doom. lol

Anyway the connection was great even though we’re across the country. I’ve fought a couple of west coast players, all of the connections were awesome IMO. I have FIOS though so your results may vary.
