Ah, thanks for the clarification. goody’s article makes a lot more sense.
The new entry has some more words that are beyond my intellect. Can someone please define the following words: “acetate,” “emulsion,” “heuristic,” “delineated,” and “pornography.”
Thanks.
Action - Mystery - Adventure, Part 3 goes up Monday evening, if not earlier. Plenty more big words for Zephyranthes to chew on, plus comics you might have learned about in history class.
More words I need defined: “imprimatur,” “archaic,” “disseminated,” and “burgeoned.”
When the whole thing is said and done, I’ll work up a “Glossary for Zephyranthes” that will be your key to understanding everything.
I’m already well into Part 4, and it might just be my favorite yet. Entry #3 is a little rushed, and I think it shows, but maybe I’ll revisit it and do some revision later.
acetate (n.) - a bitter-smelling glue commonly used as an adhesive in the manufacturing of furnitures and household appliances (trivia: they use it for skateboards to stick the grip-tape to the wooden deck)
emulsion (n.) - the property of a material to sink in another given material, generally because it is more dense… buoyance would be an approximate antonym
heuristic (adj.) - monitored by the hour
delineated (v.) - past tense of “delineate,” to force something off its line of travel… figuratively it could be like causing someone to lose their train of thought, literally it could be like a locomotive being derailed, or in more recent times disconnecting someone from the internet
pornography (n.) - a Spanish style of cartography (map-making) based on how the land refracts sound waves
imprimatur (n.) - old derogatory French slang for book-copiers (people who wrote copies by hand in the days before photocopiers), usually lower-class workers treated little better than slaves despite their literacy
archaic (adj.) - related to supernatural power, especially magic, root word is “archon”
disseminated (v.) - past tense of “disseminate,” to address a governing body, parlimentary assembly, or legal court
burgeoned (v.) - past tense of “burgeon,” the act of a wine aging, example: “I have a merlot burgeoning in my cellar.”
Thanks again, deadfrog.
goody, it would be sweet if you actually make a glossary of terms. It would be even more incredible if you were hardcore and added footnotes. Footnotes always impress me. Not that I doubt any of your points for a second, but adding footnotes would just secure the knowledge of righteousness. Nobody questions footnotes.
No can do. Sorry, but I just have a really hard time writing with my feet.
Heh. That’s what I love about you, goody: your titillating wit. Is that the correct use of “titillating?” I think so.
disseminated - “di” Italian preposition for “of”, seminated means to “injection of sperm” I think, so it’s “injection of sperm in an Italian”.
Question about footnotes. What’s the difference between footnotes and endnotes? When is one used over the other?
It’s same as the difference between hooves and tails. :bgrin:
The giant-size final installment of Action - Mystery - Adventure is now finished. It was much more difficult than I thought it would be and, barring some inevitable revision down the line, I’m glad to finish it.
Everybody go read.

New update. Kind of a “stuff from all over” post, but it has a clue as to my next big project.
In true Hollywood style, I am experimenting with HYPE. This middle-of-the-week teaser post is designed to build HYPE.
HYPE!
Nice, blog man! I think more people on SRK should blog. I blog myself actually. I’ll pimp your blog on my own site.
