o well at least i have all that great footage to BlitzBrag about

Best of luck in your future endeavors Chris, TFNS can always use a hype man and a man with an action plan like yourself you are more than welcome to come work with us if anything.

Pownz did alot of great things for the community, cant wait to see what you’ll come up with next.

First Tournament

Wow, I can’t believe this happened. This is the place were I had my first tournament matches, and got me really involved with the Street Fighter community. Sorry things had to go this way Chris. Best of luck.

Pownz is a huge part of my teenage/highschool years, its sad to see it go. Good luck on future endeavors Drekken you did a lot for the community :frowning:

I want to first thank you all for your kind words, it took a while for me to hit the submit button on the original post because doing so made it feel official.

For those who know me closely, Pownz Gaming centre was my baby. My first real business venture and my pride and joy. The centre’s business model, and design was inspired from the loss of Hamilton’s Cove an arcade facility located in Mohawk college where RPGv2, RXS, Hijinks and other Hamilton favorites took my money in 3rd strike consistently.

The competitive end of it was born from my love, facination and envy of the Korea Starcraft scene as well as my original ambition to be a progamer. But my Parents killed that dream quick saying “there is no money in it”.

so the mission was simple… Make a way that the path was viable for players in Canada .

I took many detours, and the centre over the years lost that mission and in the end I was able to pull it back on track at a heavy cost.

I want to make something clear though, that it’s closing doesn’t mean my exodus from the community or ventures with competitive gaming, believe it or not I have been on SRK since 2002 lol, it wasn’t until I started organizing I started to feel apart of the community. I know I didn’t go to casuals or practice with my home scene as much as I wanted to but I felt that the sacrifice was worth it so that events like the Toshiba circuit could come into fruition.

When it comes down to it, I still have a mission to complete and the loss of the Pownz centre though detrimental it isn’t a nail in the coffin. For those who don’t know I was never rich, nor did I have better credit. I created Pownz right after college with my 15k + OSAP debt fresh off my heels, I did it with sheer determination to create something and perseverance to never give up. Something I still believe in to this day.

Side Note: I updated the sales info after OP

Chris; do you have an inventory of the games you’re selling?

Hmm, I’m thinking of picking up one of those monitors. Will this be ran in the form of an auction? Or is it first come first serve?

unfortunately i don’t have an inventory of the games, we had ALOT of games. , everything is first come first serve, cash only.

I hate to see this place go. So many fun times, and it was the closest tourney venue to me. Thanks for everything you’ve done for us Chris.

There’s been a few questions as to why this thread hasn’t been merged with the Hamilton thread. The thread will be merged eventually, I will do it by the end of the week on Sunday. It’s open for now because:

It answers questions people had about the ESC Champ Circuit.

It clears up questions people had about a popular tournament venue.

Chris worked his ass off for the SF community with little to no returns, and the least we can do now is show him some respect when it didn’t turn out.

It provides an opportunity to complain to Chris about the ripoff $1000 drinks that were sold at POWNZ.
So as I said, i’ll keep it open until Sunday. If you have any complaints about it, PM me please.

Those reasons still don’t justify why the thread is still allowed to remain open. How can you keep this thread open yet the ever popular Gety thread is not allowed?

shut up dennis

This is powerful. Quoted for more power.

Shut up Dennis.

And with that I baptise thee as our new moderator.

A few words from MTL
Its sad to see POWNZ close like this … i wish you luck for your future plans
MTLSF HQ is always ready to work on future projects with your ideas as we spoken in the past

Good luck

Next time when you say first come first serve, you might want to stick to that and not just have garbage left over for people to buy. Guy I talked to said most of the stuff went yesterday. Waste of complete time…

I’m willing to be that wasn’t Chris’ fault, Javid.

Javid it was first come first serve someone came right at the beginning and bought alot of the best stuff. Bought all the chairs, games, monitors and etc in 1 sale.

I Also mentioned before I do not control prices nor did I control the sale.

keep ya head up nigga. good times at pownz best of luck

If that is the case than my bad. Now I’m curious as to who this one person is…better not find everything on Kijiji triple the price.:xeye:
