Dj does good damage… I’ve been able to punish peoples pokes with c lp c mp xx a lot instead of trying to always jump in and stuff oh well
DJ does decent damage, but not good compared to other characters. Ryu can do more damage with easier links, and even more damage with harder links, and has much harder punishes. I wouldn’t say DJ has good damage output, unless we’re talking EX MGU > dash U2. That’s guuuud.
I don’t want to turn this into yet another matchup thread, but there’s no freaking way that Balrog is a 5-5 matchup. Dee Jay has such problems with Boxer it’s crazy. No effective zoning ability, inferior pokes and footsies, sobat’s pretty much useless… the only thing you can really do is cross him up like a madman and try to get a vortex going.
Am I missing something? Does DJ have a special taunt that turns Balrog into Dan?
Hmm, Deejay getting more fun for me. I think he compliments my Bison main pretty well. If you don’t know, Bison can’t properly AA consistent against some of the more popular characters (trades a lot because of distance+hit boxes). I’m finding upkicks to be suchhhhh a relief after two years of SF4 Bison AA options.
I honestly wish the Deejay forums had better representatives who post more often.
Some of this info is plain wrong, and it will confuse people who don’t know.
I’m not a great player but if I really get into Deejay, I’ll attempt my best to contribute too. My Bison forum track record’s not too bad :d
We’re doing our best here, buddy.
If you see info that’s wrong, it would be a huge help if you could post it up for us! If you’re seeing a lot of it, maybe a “DJ Myths debunked” thread would be good, too!
First off the tier list goes by match up data. doesn’t mean the character at the top is the best.
Although deejay is higher than some characters i believe
Adon, Viper, and some others have the potential of going further than him in a tournament because they are better overall characters despite their matchups.
I don’t think T Hawk is a bad matchup. You can carefully lame him out. If you stop zoning you will lose.
^There’s always a dick headed twerp who will take general statements personally.
Balrog is a 5-5 match up and so is Bison… EVERYBODY is just doing it wrong right? =0\
Who made the tier list? Does anyone of the people main DJ or even play with them in a high or competitive level?

The Iplaywinner one has the name “Fiipino Champ” stamped across the top.

I knew that but none of the people who helped with the list main or uses DJ as an alternate.

i think tyram uses deejay out there, dunno if he had any influence on the list.
with regards to the topic in question in vanilla i mained bison with rog and fuerte as alts, so i do go back to them every now and then.
For super it’s either between vega and honda as my main alt, whichever i get better with first.
Maining Honda it looks like the bad match ups are the same, ones that cover honda’s are viper, Abel, fuerte, Seth, dhalsim, akuma.

I use to main guile, but I’ve been sticking with Deejay lately. Working on Rog at the moment.

It’s funny. I main Vega and was thinking of picking up Dee Jay because he’s fun (and so happy). Though I’m probably going to force myself to use a shoto just so I can get down qcf and dp motions better. Maybe OP could pick up Vega as an alt

Don’t expect to have an advantage with Abel in a match-up just because he has one. You have to understand him and your play style has to work with him.

There is no one character that covers all of Dee Jay’s bad matchups because he has so many of them. If you’re looking for a secondary character to cover matchups then Dee Jay as a character isn’t for you. Having said that, the right answer is pretty obvious, it’s Dhalsim.
Dhalsim’s weakest matches are (in rough order). Cammy and Rufus who squash him. Fuerte and Vega (both quite frankly ridiculous matches) and Viper and Abel just on principle. Dee Jay does decently on Cammy/Rufus, even or better with Fuerte/Vega and doesn’t lose too badly to Viper. The only overlapping problem for the two of them is Abel who isn’t that bad for Dee Jay really (still a loss though). And on the plus side, Dee Jay’s worst match is either Guile or Dhalsim, and Dhalsim beats Guile for free so that’s nice.
The problem though is that if you do this, you’re a Dhalsim player who switches to Dee Jay for team divekick and will be spending the vast majority of your practice and play time on Dhalsim.
