Good partners for Dormammu?

Remember to use heavy gun a lot to help you get in. It’s probably the strongest move he has that none of the Doom players I’ve seen are really employing yet (well for the few that dont just use him for HIDDEN MISSILES). It’s a projectile with a lot of active frames that if you use with a regular forward jump will cover a lot of the screen very quickly. Being a projectile it basically will stuff out all non projectile based attacks and if you hit the opponent out of the air it will put them in an unrecoverable juggle state that can set up combos. If you call it with an assist it can be hard to deal with because if the opponent air blocks or regular blocks it and tries to advance guard you away your assist can lock them down and allow you to dash in and push them towards the corner easily. The only issue you really have to worry about with heavy gun is that it has no projectile durability so if people start spamming shit at you, just switch it up to H plasma beam or H molecular shield to break things up then go in again.

Once you push people in the corner with Doom they are dead cuz he has 100 percents on pretty much everyone with a touch towards the corner.

Have the same team as well, but with Doom using Plasma Beam. Dormammu can do M teleport crossups with Doom’s beam.

I’m looking for a new point or anchor. I’m running Ammy (cold star) and Dorm (dark hole). I want to put Dorm second and I’m thinking Ammy on point and I like playing her as rushdown, but I think I could throw her as anchor if I found a good point char. Any recommendations?

Im runnin’ Trish/Dorm/Tron w/ Assists:Peekaboo/D. Hole/G. Fire
Great team synergy
Dormammu
Peekaboo+Flame Carpet =P
G. Fire combo extender for Dorm
Trish
D. Hole lets Trish control certain areas of the screen she normally can’t control w/ her traps
G. Fire helps her rushdown… as if it needed any help =P
Tron
D. Hole lets Tron get free drill attempts
Peekaboo doesn’t really compliment Tron IMO, but it does serve as a pretty good OTG =/
DHC well into one another, any order really…
Any criticism is much appreciated…

So I think i’ve finally settled on a team of Dorm/Hulk/Taskmaster (give or take order I’m still fiddling a little bit).

The one question I still have is has anyone found a suitable followup for Hulks AA assist? Task has the up arrows, but I haven’t got a thing for Dorm. It’s absolutely beastly in the keepaway game (who doesn’t like armored assists that cover 4/5 of the vertical range?), but I’m striking out on hit confirming anything off of it. I have been using the opportunity to put out a stalking flare, but I really feel like I’m missing out on damage I could get if I just went with gustaff fire like everyone else.

Perhaps you could just jump up and do a j.mmhs? I’m not too familiar with hulk assist ;o
If not you could do a purification tower. Or get 1-2 dark magic charges.

I think Wesker and Dormammu compliment each other well on both ends. Teleport mixups from both of them, unblockables with low shots, and Dark Hole is good pressure. Wesker is a great point character and he doesn’t need meter to be great. So what you are looking for there is a good sweeper or a great assist to cover the other two. Doom’s missiles and plasma beam are great, but he is a meh sweeper. I use Taskmaster but his arrows seem lacking against the beefier projectiles in the game, but he is pretty self sufficient.

I am currently running Dante/Dormammu/Hulk with a/a/b assists D.Hole helps Dantes Rushdown (can make the teleport safer) and Hulks AA-Charge is a nice “get off me” assist for both dormammu and dante… but then again I am not really good at this game

It was just a 30-day suspension. My account is now functional once more.

Hulk seems to be gaining in popularity recently…

After 2 weekends trying to find a team where I could use Dormammu, I think I found my team. I’m running Storm (whirlwind)/Dormammu (dark hole)/X-23 (ankle slice).

Storm works as a battery, DHC’ing from Hail Storm to Chaotic Flames when she’s done (or it is needed to kill a character). Dormammu have some good mix-ups with teleport + X-23’s assist and Storm’s assist helps him at the keepaway. When needed, I can DHC from Floating Bomb to Silent Kill (X-23 lvl 3), which is really tough to escape, or from Floating Bomb to Hail Storm, which deals a huge chip damage. At last, I can DHC from Hail Storm to Weapon X if Dormammu is dead (it hits with the correct timming XD)

I have to test a few things next weekend. These assists are not the best option for X-23, I’ll look for better ones, maybe using Dr Doom beam/missile instead Storm and go X-23/Dorm/Doom. Also, I’m not sure how good is the “unescapable” Silent Kill, I might change X-23 for Wesker, to keep Dormammu’s mix-ups. Any suggestion is welcome.

In my mind there’s not a better keep off me assist. It’s just about instant, has armor and covers an angle that dorm has issues with (sent flight/ dante teleport both eat it to hulk). Hulk on point is another matter as you really have to bank on whoever your third character is to get mileage out of hulk, IMO Dormammu’s assists don’t help him out much.

Well, I think there are plenty of better “get off me” assists, but Hulk definitely has a solid one. Have you tried calling Dark Hole at the same time you attack with Hulk? I call Dark Hole right when I use Sentinel’s s.S, and Dark Hole doesn’t interfere with the launch if its successful, but it begins right after the kick finishes, making the recovery safe and putting my opponent in blockstun so I can make another approach.

I have been trying to build a team in the game forever and still have no luck. Taskmaster is my point character no matter what though. I just started using Dormmamu and hoping he will my next dedicated character. So I’m trying to figure out who would mesh well with Tasky and Dorm. I know it says Dorm should have a beam assist but Doctor Doom is not my best. I’m decent with Iron Man but not really. A good keep away assist would be nice now since I’m new to Dormmamu but once I get a handle on him, I’ll try something else. I tried Tron for a while and her assist is nice but I’m not sure how I feel about her in general. I could maybe try out Haggar. I don’t know. I’m open to suggestions. Anything you think would work well with Taskmaster and Dormmamu?

I don’t think Dorm needs at all costs a beam assist. I’ll try to make up some teams with Task/Dorm:

Task/Dorm/Amaterasu (cold star): A team which is hard to master and need perfect assist cover and opponent reading, cold star is a good assist that can aid both taskmaster (for zoning) and Dorm (for mixups). Ammy can DHC with all the team and is the best char to defeat Sentinel.

Task/Dorm/Akuma (Tatsu): Akuma is a beast himself, he’s got huge comeback potential and is one of the scariest char on Level 3. His tatsu assist can hit confirm for both task and Dorm hypers (Tastsu - Dark hole - Chaotic flame = big damage) and absorb some projectiles. On the other side if they catch you with an hyper when Akuma is out you’re done. Akuma can DHC with great damage with all the team.

Task/Dorm/Haggar (Lariat): Super lame team. If you make a mistake and let them get close Haggar comes in and beats the shit out of them, then you can start your combo. This is a weird team because when you got Task on the ground there isn’t an assist that can help you zoning but there’s always Haggar for a good get off me. A flaw of this team is that Haggar alone is not so good and can’t DHC well.

Task/Dorm/Sentinel (drones): The most obvious choose. His assist is great and keep the opponent in block stun for so long you can do great mixups with Dorm. The drones can also offer a valid help for zoning with Taskmaster. You can’t dhc with him outside the corner unless for some reason you got Sent for second, in that case you can do the first hyper with Task, DHC into sentinel Force and then immediatly DHC into Chaotic flame. This way the drones have all the time to reach the opponent (the drones come out also if Sent is called out immediatly after the animation).
There’s also a trick not everybody know: with Task if you call the drones right before doing the otg air hyper then you can continue the combo because the last drone keep them in hitstun.

I use Taskmaster (H. Arrow)/Dormammu (Dark Hole)/Shuma-Gorath (Mystic Ray) as one of my teams, and I am pretty satisfied with it.

Thanks for the tips guys. I do like Amterasu but I feel cheap using her. I know I get sick of people spamming fwH on me all the time. Sentinel is a character I have never really used yet. I’ve seen enough tournaments with him, that I feel like I could pick him up and have a good grasp on what to do. Shuma is someone I was looking at. I noticed his Mystic Ray assist is great. I just suck with him is the problem. I have a hard time doing the:b:Charge:f: moves.

I’m just basically trying out a bunch of options at this point. Sentinel would probably be great for teleport crossups. Mass change works great on people who like to spam. You pretty much need an assist to cover your ass there.

This may be a little off topic but does anyone else get annoyed by the people that just spam random shit all the time? I’m so sick of stupid Akuma players jumping all over the place and have no idea what the hell their doing. The sad thing is it actually works(against me, at least) Too often, I’m getting my ass kicked in the corner by Akuma. The guy is like on crack, all over the damn place. I have a hard time zoning him. I’m at least getting better at punishing people who use Amaterasu. I don’t let myself get caught in that stupid fw H bs anymore. I can respect a good Amaterasu player that actually uses weapon changes, but to do the same bullshit move over and over is just so damn annoying. Good thing though is if they let me get a hit, I’ll make sure that bitch dies.

I’ve been working with a team of Dorm A/Iron Man A/Hsien-Ko A recently. I know it’s kind of unorthodox for Dorm to be on point, but he builds meter quickly and with reasonable safety by crossing up using his B teleport and Iron Man assist. Hsien-Ko is for the “get off me” assist which I think works slightly better with Dorm than Haggar.

Forgive me, there are definitely better assists in the game, but for a keepaway character like Dorm who has really only one gaping hole in his projectile to normal transition (teleports and SJ to directly above where c.M and the l. purification miss) Hulk closes that gap the best I’ve found. I personally rate it much higher than the rest because most people fail to factor in the armor.

As far as Dark hole, it’s great for fixing your opponent to a position, but lousy when it comes to opening them up. In my mind nearly any assist used correctly can put your opponent in blockstun, few of them actually assist in the attack. In my mind Hulk is best paired with an assist that’s either hard to track (slow moving like Tasky’s arrows or Dooms Rocks/Missiles) or that hits high or low to set up damaging unblockables since he has almost no rushdown game himself and can be kept out pretty easily.

Most of the time I find myself using a aerial exchange combo from Dorm to Hulk when I have them near a corner (either down or the direction that puts them with their back to the wall) it generally only works once, but there’s not a whole lot more you need with Hulk.

I’m a scrub at this game right now, but I’ve been running wesker(samurai edge)/dormammu(dark hole)/skrull(tenderizer). I use wesker and doorman as meter builders and then split meter usage between skrull and doorman. I don’t think it’s the greatest team, but tenderizer assist seems to work pretty good keeping people off doorman with a flame carpet out, and I absolutely love getting 400,000+ damage off his elastic slam combo (and hearing people bitch when they get thrown from across the screen is pretty funny.) But skrull is way too heavy of a meter user to have on the team with any other meter user; there just isn’t enough to go around if I even plan on using skrull. I really like the wesker/doorman combo, but I need someone with a better dynamic, specifically I want to know who works best with doorman assist-wise. anybody work really well for covering over his head?

Okay, so I went with Sentinel. He’s a character I never really wanted to use but I actually like him. I’m definitely not the best with him yet though, but his assist does a nice job of covering Dormammu. Luckily though, I have been destroying people with Taskmaster and Dormammu so I never even get a chance to use him.

I still need a lot of work with Dormammu though. I get rushed down a lot and get killed so easily. I think the more I play with him though the better I’ll get.
