Going to Evo on a budget?

I know there are some McDonalds on the strip but if anyone knows cheap eats walking distance from Rio, i’m interested.

There’s a Sonics next door to the rio.

And a TGI Friday’s across the street. If you’re looking to get drunk that’s a good place to start, bucket of beer (5 bottles) for $10.

I want to go to EVO but the flights are very expensive. I haven’t even considered the hotel reservations and food. Looking into the prices for flights I got a price range from $550-$600 round trip when traveling from NY to Vegas. These prices were from JetBlue and American Airlines. Is there any other airline I can try that is cheaper? Do the prices go down after a while?

I wanna go but if I add the round trip, food, and the evo ticket,oh and hotel, thats about 600-700 bucks an I need a partner to hang with my friends are broke lol unless I try to hang with tokido lol

There is a nice buffet @ the Gold Coast, its 10 bucks for like a day or something like that.
The Rio has also The All American Bar & Grill which its pretty cheap and has good food in my opinion. I am sure that with that buffet and this restaurant you should be able to eat good for like 25 a day.

I usually only take about $300 to EVO and only end up spending about $200. I usually spend like $60 on just T-shirts from Meatbun and other venders so really it’s not such a crazy pricey trip if you could be careful with your money. Me and my buddies also usually take a loaf of bread and peanut butter to any tournament we go to just to take care of snack cravings during the day. It’s not really necessary but it does help save some bucks just in case of an emergency. But honestly though, food in Vegas is pretty darn cheap. Not much money is going to be needed unless you want to hit up some bars or Little Darlings… :3

Lots of small-time nearby casinos have food deals to try to get you in the door. Stuff like $5 steak and eggs or $2 burgers. Some places even have various $1 alcoholic drinks.
I did some footwork last year and mostly ate at at those places. There is one major downside to all of this though – the deals are usually during certain hours, and sometimes the lines can be long.

Not entirely applicable, but still.

play the penny slots at hooters casino if you want to get drunk for like 4 dollars. It’s so small the servers usually are back around to you before you even finish your beer.

I like to say I’m the king of Evo budgeting… but I know there are people out there for manage to spend less (usually the local players)

Food: Try to bring snacks with you so that you don’t starve your stomach during the day. Water will always be available, so gulp down on that free H20 and you won’t be as hungry. You’ll be running to the restroom a lot, but the pros there are: hydrated, won’t be as hungry, helps lose weight while in Vegas ~ if you’re the type who was looking to lose a few pounds, and its free! I tend to save money for the dinner get together with friends and a few beers/alcohol.

Room: I usually don’t even stay in my room! I’m always out, so I’ve always roomed with other people that I have in the past and the cost was split. I don’t care about bed space or where I sleep, so it is really a preference for some. Just as long as I am able to clean up, change, and squeeze a few zs, I’m good.

Entertainment: Free! BYOC, sessions in people’s room, enjoying a stroll down the strip… unless you want to catch a few shows or gamble, that’ll cost.

Transportation: This is usually the most expensive aside the hotel room. Book early if flying, and if you know anyone that works for an airline, you can get a discounted flight. Driving or carpooling is another option. Splitting the cost of gas is great on the wallet, but the cons are being able to sit comfortably for XX hours, taking turns driving, and B.O., lol.

I try not to spend more than $300 each year. I can spend more if I wanted, but you just got to know how to have fun with little money and stretch that ish! Girls…you don’t need money to pull chicks, but a lot of guys aren’t strong with the force if you know what I mean. Anyway… hope this helps a few people at Evo.

Excalibur has 24/7 Crispy Creme and McDonalds too! So hit up that $1 menu, son!
