GODSGARDEN RETURNS! Q&A session open!

The translation will be up soon, give me another day or so. Sorry it’s been taking so long… holiday season and um… Final Fantasy 13 lol.

The interview is online! Sorry for taking so long… work swamped me, and I had to get Azrael to help me out because of how busy I am. Hope you enjoy it!

http://www.versuscity.net/2009/12/27/daigos-godsgarden-interview/

Here’s a portion of it… the interview is fucking LONG so its best to go to my site to check it out.

Thanks for the translation.

Lol Daigo, what have you just started. This will usher in a whole new era of excuses and retarded match commentary.

“And Justin drops another combo. Must be all the salt forming around his joints from those Pringles he had before the match”

With regards to this quote:

What do you think he meant by, “Everyone just doesn’t know.”

Doesn’t know what? Is Daigo implying that most people just don’t know how to use Claw properly or is it just that most don’t know how to play against Claw?

If it is the former, I’d love to know what secret techniques the Japanese have discovered. I view Claw as I do Dictator: very basic with very few “games” or gimmicks. (Well, I suppose Claw has more tricks because of Izuna…) As Daigo said, almost everything has already been discovered for the both of them. That’s another discussion for another thread.

Anyway, good read. Thanks for these interviews (and translations)!

I think he means that people aren’t aware that Claw is doing great in tourneys in Japan.

Don’t take this the wrong way, I think it’s great that someone went through the work of translating the whole interview - but I’d just like to advise people not to take the translation to literal. It has a lot of rough spots, stuff is left out or simply mistranlsated at times. Just saying, as I already saw people getting hung up on such a mistranslation over at eventhubs.

What Daigo said was that Claw [and other underused characters] often performs quite well at tournaments since most people don’t really know how to play against him.

edit:

It’s not blood “pressurizing around joints” but blood being needed by the stomach (thus lacking from the brain, resulting in reduced concentration).

Sorry, I thought that was the most provoking thing that he said. I’m kind of surprised people haven’t pointed out that Daigo doesn’t seem to mind anything really overpowered or super strong. It’s an interesting opinion for a champion but one that’s been ironed out by years of playing all sorts of games. It looks like SF4 is the least powerful/broken game he has ever played.

He also endorses more useful moves as well. Looks like he wouldn’t mind the entire cast getting new and useful moves that are “damn strong.”

Ohhhh snap! Mueti, you’re on SRK too? :bgrin:

On topic, I disagree with Daigo on that “in order to get to high level play, the players need take the game less seriously” bit.

Look at Marvel, USA has that lock downed, and the environment is very similar to what he said was bad, but it seems to only make everyone get better and play better.

But then I’m not a top player, so I guess my view is bit…off?

The reason why Japan Marvel isnt at the level of US Marvel is because most of the japanese doesnt like or play that game.

Voting is now open.

In Japanese though.

when will Gods Garden #2 take place?

6th March

“How do you deal with characters you?re not used to at tournaments?
If I only have one shot at victory, then I just have to rush them down. It?s impossible to try and come up with a strategy. But if its double-elimination, then I can expose some openings and observe how my opponent reacts. When Justin decided to use Fei Long at Seasons Beatings I decided that I?d go down to the losers bracket. If I just tried to fight normally it wouldn?t work, so I watched and then worked out a plan. With America?s rules, with a strategy then I have a good shot at victory.”

lol… this guy man, you think he really “decided” to go down to losers to gain more experience against Fei? who does that?
